Kmart Toy Sale - has it started in your area? **Update - it has started!**

Hello to you guys! I did a search and didn't see this already posted but I apologize if I overlooked it!

I know Kmart has an awesome toy sale around the 4th of July and I'm expecting it momentarily. I googled the search and it mentioned it starting around June 28th. I thought it was after the 4th of July but perhaps that's just when I found out about it the last 2 years.

Has anyone seen the sale start in their Kmart? I don't shop at our Kmart (I'm a Target girl ) but for this sale - I definitely go over there. I was thinking of running out on my lunch break to check. I called the store and unfortunately they weren't much help

I went Sunday to check and ours was not running the sale yet. I also though it was the week of the 4th last year.

I can tell you it wasn't in our sale paper this week, but I'm planning to stop in there on my way home from work today (they have their 2lt pepsi 10/$10 and I have a bonus points offer I want to use, as well.)

I've never looked for this sale before... exactly what level of "deals" should I expect? I HATE it when you see something marked "clearance" with a big orange sticker, and it's like 15% off...

Update!! It has started!! I looked at the piece of paper in one of the aisles and the fine print had 7/1-7/7.

Of course - Kmart is completely un organized. I know from the last 2 years, not many things come up the way they should - heck in the past, they usually came up even better than the 50% off the clearance price. To be clear - it's 50% off the clearance price which should have a yellow sticker on it. Some items are gathered in one aisle but most are just in the difference aisles.

I'm sorry this is so quick (trying to get back to real work ) but I did find some smaller Pirates of the Caribbean Legos (#4191) reg $11.99 for $4.50. I also found some of the Crayola Color Wonder sets (Cars, Toy Story and one other I can't remember now) for $1.00 and $2.00 from around $8.00 so those were a great deal. I also got a Little Mommy baby doll that was reg $22.99, clearance price $17.00 but it rang up $6.00. I got a few small Strawberry Shortcake figures for my niece for $2.00 and then a Cars playset that was reg around $32.99 (?) on clearance for $25.00 for $12.50.

THE BAD NEWS - again, most of this stuff did NOT scan correctly so when I checked out I told the cashier, she confirmed the sale and had to wait on an override for each one. It took at least 20 mins to check out so I hope your stores have the prices programmed correctly.

I'll definitely go back when I have more time but at least it has started. I'm going to edit my original post to add that.

I am going to call the ones closest to me and check. There werfe not signs at 1 of them Sunday. darn The closest one is 45 minutes away so I hate to waste a trip. I am going to call right now.

When I called yesterday they also told me the sale hadn't started yet and if it did, it would be a Sunday. I was in the area at lunch so decided I had nothing to lose - but time! I found it interesting it had started Sunday, 7/1 and she had no idea.

Just at our local Kmart, and no toy sale there at all.

I'm sorry strange some might have it and others not huh?

For the past 2 years, Kmart has done their big toy sale at the same time at Target - at the end of July. Kmart does mark things down here & there ahead of time, but the huge clearance isn't for a couple of weeks yet.

I read another thread the Target Toy sale had also started. When I was googling info about the Kmart sale earlier I came across info that said Target was starting their sale earlier to not be behind Kmart and Walmart this year - not sure if true but I did find that.

I do know for my Kmart it has always been around the 4th of July and never at the end of July. Perhaps they do vary slightly?

I did find good deals today so I hope others do too!

Hmm... the target by my work had plenty of toys "clearance" at 30% off, and a few that were 50%, but the Kmart near there didn't have anything going on yet.

The Kmart near my house wasn't doing the 50% off the clearance price either, but looking at what little they had, I can't see me going back when they do.

I think you are confusing the initial markdown (which tend to be smaller) with the actual big clearance sale that most bargain-hunters try to hit. Both Kmart & Target start to mark things down for the month or so leading up to the big sale, but the prices don't hit rock bottom (usually around 75% off) until the end of July.

Kmart always publishes this big sale in their flyer, so it is definitely not here yet.

Actually our Kmart has been doing their 50% off toy sale the week of the 4th for several years. Maybe they do them at different times in different locations? (I haven't been this week to see if there is a sale or not)

Target's toy clearance sale has always gone 70% off (used to be 75% off but they changed it last year) the last week of July. All stores either mark down toys on Weds or Thurs. according to their mark-down rotation.

I saw someone post on a local coupon group in Facebook. Planning to hit both in my town when my husband returns from work. I'd love to get Christmas for my nieces, nephews, etc. done and put away!
