Kindergarten parents... So how'd they do?

Well my DD started afternoon kindergarten 2 weeks ago and that first day was a killer and not becasuse DH and I were a little choked up but the stupid bus never showed!! My DD was all excited to ride the bus like the big kids but instead got a car ride to school with mom and dad. ;) It is so cool to see how much she has grown up lately. Just a few weeks ago she was telling my Mom she didn't want to go to school but stay at home and play!! Now she gets up and is dressed and ready by 9 am and her bus doesn't arrive until noon!! This is the same child who we have to bomb out of bed and it takes her a good hour before she functions;) Now she gets up by herself and is ready to go!!:D Now if we could just get our DS who is in 2nd grade to be that way!

BTW your DD is adorable!:D

"PERFECT" said Brittany of her 1st day of Kindergarten! She was so excited when she woke up Wed. She pushed me out the door (our tradition) and was happy as a clam when I left her. She ate a hot dog in the cafateria for lunch. (We'll do a mixture of hot/sack depending on the menu.)

here are some pic's: (and a picture of her new bike which she got about 6 weeks ago)

No school for her yesterday (K goes 1/2 of class 1st 2 days.) Today I dropped her off at the before school program. Little aprehension, but no tears.

She's such a cutie!!! She looks so proud that she's going to Kindergarten!!!

My DD's were born almost a year apart but both were 4 on the school cut-off date so they both started pre-K this year. I asked that they be put into separate classrooms. I really debated this issue but decided that as nice as it was for them to have a special person with them all the time, it was more important they make their own way.

DH and I dropped them off and went back and forth between their classrooms to get them settled and to say good-bye. I looked at DD5 to see crocodile tears streaming down her face - that silent cry that tears your heart out. Both girls have gone to a home day care since they were babies, but I think the newness and excitement got the best of Hannah. We got started to do a puzzle and she was o.k.

We kissed them good-bye. When I went to pick them up DD4 didn't want to leave. The teachers said they both did great - no trouble at all wanting to be with their sister. They get to play together every day on the playground so they do see each other. DH told the girls to watch out for one another on the playground. Emily told us she took good care of Hannah.

Wednesday was fine, but then Thursday Emily said she wanted to come with me. She wasn't uspet, just didn't want to stay. I tried to get her involved with a game, but she insisted. The teacher's aide saw my struggle and came to play the game with Emily. She was fine then. She catches on quickly, though, I hope she doesn't pull this every day to get extra attention from the teacher.

The school doesn't provide transportation to pre-K, so next week we will be car pooling with another little girl and her parents. It will be interesting to see how they do with someone else dropping them off.

Thanks for giving me a chance to share this. I am so excited for both my girls.

Awww, Rebecaa is adorable, as are the other children whose Moms posted pics! :)

Drew started on Monday, and so far, so good, I think. He is a boy of few words unless you are talking about soccer, swimming, or watching cartoons. :p My oldest was just the opposite, so eager to go to school, but this little boy, he mostly likes to play. :) I did meet the teacher and I'm glad to say she is young and energetic and seems like she will be a good match for all the kids.

I did take pictures, got to upload them this weekend.
