Our first contact was 160 points at AKV. Then when BLT started selling, we bought 113 points to stay at BLT in a 1-BR MKV view every 3rd year for a week.....

We were going to wait until 2011 to stay at BLT, but we decided to use our AKV points to stay at BLT on the vacation that we just got back from. I was disappointed that we got on the waitlist for a MK view at 7 months and never got it.

Now we have enough BLT points to stay at BLT next year in a 1BR MK view and could more than likely get it, booking it at 11 months.....but DANG IT, I miss AKV. I would really, really love to stay there concierge like we did last year. And could possibly get it at 11 months with AKV points. But we have to use our BLT points with the low level of AKV points that we have right now, given the way we have banked and borrowed our AKV points.

I would love to just transfer my BLT points (338) to another member in exchange for them transferring me their AKV points. Assuming I could find somebody who would do that, how difficult would that be? I guess I could just book BLT at 11 months and get on a waitlist for AKV 1BR concierge at 7 months, but I seriously doubt that waitlist would come through.....

I really thought BLT would be my favorite since I love modern decor, but AKV just wows me more.

I understand where you are coming from. I purchased points at 2 resorts using the bank/borrow theory but I should have purchased more BCV points.

My plan to use them as purchased quickly fell apart and they are more of a booking hindrance than they are helpful. Luckily I got it right with SSR and made sure I added enough points to book a GV each year in magic season.

We really enjoy AKV aLso and made sure to add enough points there.

With the chart changes the eoy contracts will be tougher

Kidani is our home!:thumbsup2

Going to Kidani this August 3 night, then Vero 4 night!

August 2011, thinking about trying for Concierge Jambo!!!!

Have seen awesome reviews and food presentation! Looks GREAT!

How did you enjoy your Jambo Concierge???????

Much thanks!:cool1::cool1::cool1:

Your dellema is exactly why we ended up with two contracts at the same resort. We started out with 230 points at OKW in 1997, and added another 150 in 1998. We debated about adding them at BWV, but we knew we wanted access to all of them at the same place, so we ended up with all 380 at OKW. Now with our 69 point contract at AKV, we find we do occationally use OKW points there as well, and save our AKV points for concierge stays only.

I know this may sound like a strange reply, but thank you for posting this. I have been debating whether to add on more points at AKV or get more points at a different resort. It helps to see your point of view, as we would also like to stay at least Savannah View and more often Concierge.

Would you ever consider selling your BLT points to buy more AKV points? Just a thought. Good Luck! :wizard:

LIFERBABE- our plans fell apart quickly as well.......we've only been members since 2008 and have already changed our plans on how to use them as well. We love AKV!

Jerseygal- We really loved staying concierge at Jambo last year. Our room was right next to the concierge (I don't know if all concierge DVC rooms have quite as sweet a location- hopefully someone else will know). It was without a doubt the best location we have ever had- right there by the elevator, too. The food offerings were great- they had some kind of pastry with chocolate chips that was WAY BETTER than anything they had for breakfast at the Poly concierge (we stayed 3 days concierge there before checking into BLT). And the room was absolutely gorgeous. I was hoping for a savannah view room instead of the pool, but the location was so perfect and the room so awesome that I didn't care that we didn't get savannah view. Plus the pool view is really nice, too. We loved it!

Diane and DizGirl20- the issue does kind of make me want to sell our BLT points and buy more at AKV- I'm just afraid we'd take a huge loss on it- and we financed it so we're still paying on it. But, we did love the travel conveniences of the location of BLT- monorail to EPCOT and walk to the MK.

Both contracts are 12/2010. I have banked the remaining 12/2009 points since our next trip will be late May/early June 2011.

Wouldn't you want to stay at BLT at least once to see if maybe you would like it? You may find you love that resort for all different reasons. I cannot wait to stay at ALL the resorts, I think it is an adventure trying new resorts, different locations, and they all offer a different type of vacation. Cannot wait to try AKL but will not stay there until I am on a non-park vacation (which I also love)! Love DVC

We did. We just got back Monday from a split stay- 3 nights cash reservation at Poly concierge and then five nights in a 1BR bay lake view at BLT. BLT was nice- we never rode a bus. We'd walk or take the monorail to MK and we'd take the monorail to Epcot. We drove when we went to DHS and AK. AKV is just my favorite and I missed it. There was nothing wrong at all with BLT- I just prefer AKV and we only go once per year. I think I have finally found my DISNEY HOME with AKV. Although DD prefers WL, but we have never stayed in the VWL part.

We have our points in 200 SSR & new 50 BLT. Prior to our BLT purchase we stayed at AKLV at Concierge 1 BR. We had to book 7 months out. I understand I said a lot of prayers the night before my 7 month morning resie call in. We apparently got very lucky.

I wish you luck with your 7 month out resies. :flower3:

That's nice to know that 7 months can be done sometimes. Thanks for the good wishes!

You can't transfer banked points.

We were lucky enough to get an AKV concierge 1 bedroom for the last week of June in 2008 at 7 months, no waitlist.

After staying at Kidani a couple of weeks ago, we now wish we owned AKV points as well - our kids loved it there. We own at 3 other resorts, and will just have to hope for the best at 7 months out. FYI, I was able to book a 1 bedroom standard view at Jambo House for Sept a few days ago - my kids are thrilled to be going back to AKV so soon and trying out Jambo House to see which area we like best.

I don't understand what you inferred with this statement. I don't think the OP was planning to transfer points. If he banked points from his BLT contract though, he could then use them at the 7 month mark to make reservations at AKV. I really don't think it will be that difficult to get 7 month ressies except for really high occupancy times. We have routinely used some of our OKW points to reserve at AKV at the 7 month mark with no issues. We use our AKV points for concierge only, and do any other booking with our OKW points.

Will try at 11 months for Concierge August 2011!!!

Will be tough, but you never know!!!

Going to Kidani, this August 2 BR Dedicated Unit!!! Wow, can't wait, 3 Baths,
2 teenagers, 2 Adults!!!

Can't wait!!!!!!:banana::banana::banana:

I think DebbieB was responding to the following snippets from the original post:

I'm afraid I was referring to transferring banked points. I didn't realize that you couldn't transfer banked points----- I'm still learning about transferring points.....sorry for the confusion I caused.....

I have available to use 339 BLT points and about 50 remaining AKV points. I think what I'm going to do is at 11 months book the first night AKV 1BR concierge using my AKV points and then book the next 7 nights at BLT with my BLT points in a 1BR and hope that I can change those 7 nights BLT for a 1BR concierge at AKV at 7 months.

Good luck, and if it helps it seems to much easier to get AKL rooms (more inventory) then it is to get BLT if you ever have a stay where you want to go commando style to the parks! I myself cannot wait to stay at AKL heck I cannot wait to stay at all the resorts!

I'm sorry to hear about your situation, but I almost got into the same one myself. We just bought and were going to buy 100 at BLT and 220 at AKV with the same UY of course. But I started reading about the frustation that sometimes people have to have to play around with the points before every reservation and decided that for us it would be better to just buy them all at AKV and have them all ready in one resort for the 11 month and then change later if we wanted too. I'm not really crazy about the contemporary look but the location of BLT is great. That being said, I then read about the BCV where you can walk to Epcot or HS which are the DH and my favorites. Our DD is 7 so she loves MK but we only go 1-2 during our trips but go more often to Epcot or HS for us and my 13 DS. Any way, good luck and I hope you get what you want in the near future. :goodvibes
