If you're fine with the Golden Corral, I can't imagine you'd find much to complain about at Disney.

When we ate at 1900 Park Fare, the family next to us witnessed children picking up dessert toppings, putting them in their mouth, and then back in the tray. Then they saw the CM step right up and discard the tray that the kid had messed with, so I'd say you're just as safe as you would be at any other buffet, but most likely much safer!

I've never been to a Golden Corrall. However, I ate at Tusker House and Crystal Palace for breakfast last trip and enjoyed the food, didn't find either dirty or unsanitary, and would have no problem returning.

Hollywood and Vine.. another story. But even then it wasn't disgusting.. just not really for me (and the restaurant itself was mobbed, so it was messy).

Just my take on things, but the buffets aren't a horror show by any means.

We don't have Golden Corral or any such buffets around us but I have been to WDW buffets for years and have never gotten sick.

I have however been in line at a WDW buffet and had a child put their fingers in something and I stood there until I could get the eye of a worker and told them they needed to replace that item and what happened. They immediately took the item from the buffet.

This has not deterred me from going to buffets as I hope others who see something like this would do the same thing.

Disney has the most sanitary buffets I've ever seen, they usually set out only very small portions of everything and replace them often so everything is always fresh, and there are usually CMs there watching them.

One other thing to be aware of if you're used to Golden Corral or someplace like Sweet Tomatoes is that the buffets are physically smaller--partly because the portions are smaller so they can fit more different types of things in the same space, but it's nowhere near the enormous selection you might find at some non-Disney buffets. So if you eat at buffets a lot, the ones at Disney might seem small to you.

I've never noticed any sanitation issues at any WDW buffets I've been to. All the food seems to be kept fresh and at an appropriate temperature so I doubt there'd be much chance of any food borne illnesses resulting from the buffet setup itself.

That said, there's no accounting for anyone else's personal hygiene so we always sanitize our hands when we return to the table from the buffet and it's utensils that are handled by so many.

Likewise, we often sanitize our hands throughout the day to guard against germs from ride railings, handles, seats, etc.

If you've been eating at Golden Corral you should be immune to food borne illness lol. I think you will find the Disney buffets very clean. There are attendants around the food all the time keeping it clean. By the way, we like Golden Corral too.

I've never gotten sick from a Disney buffet. I HAVE gotten sick from standing behind people that refuse to cover their mouths when hacking up a lung in line.

If you're worried about food safety, we ate at the character breakfast at Cape May Cafe on Saturday. I witnessed a CM walking around the buffet sticking thermometers in the food, to make sure they were the appropriate temperatures

where is there a golden corral in the philly area?

and are your local chinese buffets always in the same strip mall with a petsmart like ours?

We have a Golden Corral in Lebanon, PA. It just opened. It's kinda eh. Okay, not great.

For a great buffet you have to make the trek to Ephrata, PA for the monstrously awesome Shady Maple Smorgasbord.

Will agree with everyone on here, that if you eat at Golden Corral, you will be fine. Last time we ate at Golden Corral we got food poisoning and saw some yucky stuff going on.

Disney buffets are watched more thoroughly as there are CMs there to attend to them all of the time, and this is a great plus as far as I'm concerned. There are still some yucky things that happen from time to time, but as mentioned, they are usually handled very quickly.
