DH and i are going to Alaska this summer. The only airlines I like are Southwest and Jet Blue (would not fly Airtran again if you paid me, but that is another story) ...neither of which are going where we are...:sad2:
The 3 airlines that are options are all priced pretty much the same.
So, between Alaska, Delta, and American, which would you prefer?

Alaska Airlines is a wonderful airline - would not hesitate to fly with them at all.

Have been on 3 Alaska cruises and used Alaska Airlines to get us from So. California to Seattle and Vancouver and back from Anchorage.

On one of our legs from Portland to Vancouver - we were on Horizon Air, which is a subsidiary airline. We had free flowing microbrew beer and wine - the flight attendant kept our cups full without even asking!:thumbsup2

You can use SW to fly to Seattle. Last year I used Continental to Vancouver and NW (Delta) for my flight home (from FAI). Booked both flights through Continental using frequent flier miles.

I'd base my decision on fares and flight times. I might slightly prefer whatever airline had more flights. Might make things a little easier if my flight is canceled.

What cruise line? What is your embarkation/disembarkation port? Reason I asked is Vancouver has something called US Direct. US passengers flying into Vancouver the day of their cruise can skip Canadian customs and get bused directly to their boat. Technically you never enter Canada. Only works if you fly with a participating airline and are cruising with a participating cruise line. You have to buy the transfers from the cruise line.

We are going through Celebrity, and going from Fairbanks to vancouver (starting with a cruisetour)
Its our first cruise, so I'm still just trying to figure out how everything works!

OP is flying to FAI and home from YVR. There aren't that many flights or airlines into FAI. Some of the flights are a "code share".

By far....Alaska Airlines. We flew to Anchorage out of Boston, bought upgrades on Ebay and flew 1st class rt for under 800 for 2 tix. :thumbsup2

You'll be booking "open jaw". Called multi city or multiple city on some search engines (Kayak).

All 3 airlines let you go directly from the ship to the airport, streamlined customs. I'd stay a night or two in Vancouver. A lot to see.

thanks for the info. we were planning on staying overnight in Vancouver. I wish we had more time, but my mom is staying here with the kids so we can go!
