OK, I say this is kind of OT, but it's really not....DH and I are really trying to watch our fat and calories and are going to make margaritas tomorrow evening, since we can't be at the "Mickey" party at Margaritaville. Do any of you have a good recipe for a margarita using natural juices and no added sugar or maybe an artificial sweetener?

Thanks in advance!:)

Ingredients:
1/2 tsp orange extract
1 packet Splenda (or 2 tsp powdered)
1 tsp water
1 shot tequila
1/8 tsp lime juice
1/4 tsp lemon juice

Mix together the orange extract, Splenda and water. This pretty much is the curocao - orange extract is up to 85% alcohol. Put crushed ice into a shaker and pour this liquid over the ice. Now add in 1 shot tequila, plus the lemon and lime juice. Shake thoroughly and pour into a glass.

INGREDIENTS
3 cups water
1 1/2 cups fresh lime juice
1 1/2 cups cointreau
1 1/2 cups silver tequila
1 lime, cut into 8 wedges
coarse salt
DIRECTIONS
Combine the water, lime juice, tequila, and cointreau in a half-gallon pitcher. Stir to mix.
To serve, rub the rim of a margarita glass with lime, and dip in salt. Fill the glass with ice, and top with the tequila mixture. Garnish with a slice of lime.

You can add fresh strawberries or mangos to either above recipe and put it through the blender with ice , yummy!

Cheers!

Thanks a bunch!

I'll probably have to make the first recipe, and multiply it x however many we decide to have since I don't have any cointreau and we live in a dry county and won't travel the 30 miles to the liquor store to get it any time soon. I can go to the store and get everything else. We normally just use Jose Cuervo mix, tequila, and blue curocao, but we are seriously trying to lose a few pounds and are doing pretty well, and don't want to mess up our diet It's good to have an alternative to the sugary mixed drinks anyway. I never drink anything with sugar during the day and I should be that way with my coctails.

I'm glad you found something that will work for you two! I bet they have margarita mixers now that are sugarfree. I think I would hate living in a dry county.:rolleyes1 :lmao:

I KNOW I would hate living in a dry county!!! :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Yeah I'm a "juice" only type of drinker normally. I don't do Marg or te-kill-ya, but it looks like someone already had a similar recipe to what I was going to suggest which is mainly just a little lemon juice with a lot of lime juice.

We just had our margaritas. I had two and I'm loaded....I'm a cheap drunk because I don't drink that often and it doesn't take much!:lmao: DH had 4 and he has a slight buzz.....
