I had read that Kilmanjaro Safari closes before dark in December when the park is open til 8 p.m.. I'm wondering if anyone knows if it would still be running at 4:00 p.m. in December.

When we were there last December, I believe the last vehicle departed at 4:15.

Thanks so much! I'll try to get a FP for 4:00. I wonder if animals will be out that close to dusk?

Some do start heading back to their backstage areas.
Suppertime!

I figured that might happen, so 3:00 it is!
And a nice thing to do after that Safari is to head out to Rafiki's Planet Watch. On the train, you might be able to see the animals going back to get their dinner.

Typically you'll see only the animals that prefer to stay on the savanna in the evening. The ones that prefer their barns (and associated treats) tend to be out of sight (giraffes, okapi, rhinos, elephants, lions, and cheetahs are the main culprits). You'll almost always see wildebeest, antelope, flamingos, storks, addax, and oryx.
