I've heard people say it's quite rough but others say it's not. Any expert opinions please? We've got a lunch ADR at Tusker House and love the sound of the food that is on offer (got a healthy appetite!) but I am prone to motion sickness....and well, you know.

Thanks in advance.

It's bumpy. There is a lot of side to side rocking as it's going over uneven terrain. I'm not prone to motion sickness and I'm trying to think of something that would be similar to give you to compare but I'm not coming up with anything. Sorry.

I don't remember it being especially rough. I don't know if I just don't notice such things or if it's because on our last 4 trips we've been in the front seat area. Maybe someone else with more experience can chime in with info as to whether the front of the vehicles are less bumpy.

I'm prone to car sickness, but this doesn't bother me. It's bumpy, but the open air vehicle helps. And you're distracted looking for animals. If you're very sensitive just give it the swim rule. What is it, wait 30 minutes after eating?

I get motion sickness in cars in the back seat and going through the mountains no matter where I sit. The safari ride did not make me sick at all. Its like riding down a bumpy dirt road. They drive slow too

It is rather bumpy and can induce motion sickness if you sit near the back rows- try to get some front seats if possible, you will not get rocked around as much and there only a very small chance, say, 3 percent that you'll get motion sickness. Have fun!

I think a PP had the perfect description with it being like "a truck ride down a dirt road" - and it is slow. So for me it is bumpy/jerky but not something that would bother my stomach, no matter how full.

Avoid the backseat as much as possible...the best seat for motion sickness is front row, you will not feel the bumpiness as much...my daughter and I always ask for the last seat because we go airborne a couple of times and she loves that :)

I'm very prone to motion sickness in a car and the safari didn't bother me in the slightest. I think it would be more of a concern with someone who has a sensitive back or neck because it can be jarring but the acceleration/speed that I think is really what causes motion sickness in most people is absent.

We're traveling to WDW with friends in October. Most likely, our female friend will be four to five months' pregnant at the time. Go or no-go on the safari for her? I've never been pregnant, so I don't know a lot about this.

I saw an old thread about that kind of topic- I think someone was pregnant and their doctor went to WDW a lot, and said it would be fine if they rode in the front or something. I can't quite remember. But I personally suggest asking someone who's been in the same kind of situation if you can find somebody.

Just did some research. It should be fine if you ride in the very, VERY front seat!!(do not do backseat. You will get thrown around like clothes in a washer.)And stay as far away from the dinosaur ride at AK as possible. And most likely, big thunder mountain(I got thrown around on that...a lot. I had to have a friend help steady my walk in after the ride).

Per WDW:

Kilimanjaro Safari

For safety, you should be in good health and free from high blood pressure, heart, back, or neck problems, motion sickness, or other conditions that could be aggravated by this adventure. Expectant mothers should not ride.

I would suggest that your friend discuss with her OB which rides at WDW should be off the table for her trip. Some women might be willing to risk the bumpiness by riding in the front. But the warning is there.

Allears has a pretty comprehensive list of rides that have safety warnings: http://allears.net/tp/rr.htm

I am also prone to motion sickness, especially on stop-start car rides, and I have no problem on the Safari. It is bumpy as PP mentioned, but slow, no hair pin turns or anything like that. We have done it right after pre-park opening brft at Tusker House and had no problem. It is one of our favorite experiences at Disney, so I wouldn't skip it. Seeing the giraffes and elephants is awesome, and we've actually caught the male lion sitting up a few times, and pacing around once at the end of the day. If you are worried about the eating part, try to wait longer afterwards to ride, or ride earlier in the day if you can(earlier is better for animals being active anyway).

we rode multiple times this past week. The absolute back row of seats was quite rough (quite fun really)
