Kids walking through quiet cove area

Not at all what I said. Rules are always rules and my being inconvenienced does not change that :) Good day to you.

i didn't quote you - I wasn't referring to you but actually someone else's post. But if you feel it applies to you well sure, maybe it does.

I just looked at PrincessShmoo's photos that she so kindly posted and the signs imply that walking through is ok, as long as you don't use the facilities in the area. Now, I didn't go to lawyering school, and my interpretation isn't a legal one, just a common sense one. However, I would still prefer children traversing the area not speak. I acknowledge it is not practical in all cases for an adult to carry them through the area, so I guess I'm ok with them being allowed to walk.

wait. what? Where are you getting the "implying" part? I am not a lawyer either but just reading the signs doesn't imply that at all.

I think they see the signs as only being on the pool and only on the Cove Cafe. They are missing the part where there are at least 3 signs that are about the location as a whole. 1 on each divider walls and then 1 on the doors from deck 11.

My apologies -- my post was the only one I saw with a definition of entitlement. I suppose we just have different definitions for that word (which is perfectly acceptable). Again, good day.

I clicked on this thread because of an encounter I saw in the Quiet Cove Café. A Mom and 10ish year old daughter came in and ordered coffee drinks. Someone sitting at the bar (NOT ME!) made a comment about kids not allowed in the Café, pointing at the sign. The Mom went off on the woman and said that as long as they were just ordering coffee and then leaving it was okay. What surprised me was that the two CMs never said a word. They just kept their heads down and made the coffees. The girl was 10 and old enough to wait outside on her own. I did wonder though what if she was only 3 or 4? I guess the Mom just doesn't get coffee then? I am thinking that the CMs were quiet hoping for a bigger tip.

The CMs are quiet because they don't want to cause any issues. The person should have asked the CM about the no child policy and let them handle it. If nothing was done they can go down to guest relations and complain.

I see this all the time and it INFURIATES me.

I am not teaching my children that rules don't apply to them....but I will teach them to make informed decisions and accept consequences when they break the rules

ETA: Definition of entitled: believing oneself to be inherently deserving of privileges or special treatment. This definition doesn't apply here, as I know the rules and consequences still apply.

I can tell that you have given this a lot of thought and respect your conclusions. How each of us approach rules and laws is one of the most profound philosophical decisions, we face in life, and it is not a light discussion that belongs in this forum. But mixing it up with entitlement is a mistake.

From my own perspective, it is somewhat painful to associated with "entitlement" as it is something I've always been very conscious about the dangers of succumbing to. I can think of few things that would be worse than some day finding myself, or those close to me, behaving spoiled or entitled. I am sure that I am not alone in putting a lot of effort into being proactive about preventing that from happening, otherwise I see a real risk that it could.

In my own experience, there are definitely people who match stereotypes, but, more often than not, we are very different and almost no one fits into some simple box. The wonderful thing is that we are privileged with the gift of being able to reach out to each other, through constructive discussion, and learn to understand each other's complexities better. It is in that spirit of learning that I approach message boards.

Thanks to those who pointed out that there is way to the 12th deck around the Cove area as I had been quite concerned about this. We obviously won't take the kids through an adult area if there is a reasonable alternative.

For those wanting to argue with another poster, please realize it adds nothing to the discussion. If you have a comment meant to address a specific poster, please use PM/Conversation instead of posting in the thread itself.
