Hello Everyone,

I recently booked another vaction to Disney this time onsite at Port Orleans :cool1: .
I was told they have a Pirate Cruise pirate: for the kids ages 3-10 at the Grand Floridian Marina.
I decided to reserve it for my boys but I am having second thoughts on my youngest.
My youngest is 4 and could not hear up until 1 year ago.
Now that he can hear he is learing to talk but is delayed to that of a 3 year old and the same with his overall mindset and behavior.
When I found that it is a 2 cast members to 24 children ratio I had a second thoughts.
My point is I'm scared he might get distracted and loose the group.
I know it sounds a bit far off but I know he is distracted by even the littlest things.
Can anyone tell me if they have done this with their children and the details??

Thanks A Bunch!!! :goodvibes

I wish I could tell you about it, but last June our Pirate Cruise got rained out. They stayed at the Grand Floridian and had The Treasure Hunt in the resort. But my girls 10 and 7 had a good time.

My 6 yo DS went this past Feb. He was a little nervous because we sprung this as a surprise and he worrys about not knowing any one. There were 3 adults on the adventure, the Captian and 2 crew members. I didn't count the kids. I tried to look though my pictures but I still could not get a good head count. Before the boat leaves the Captain makes sure they buddy up. I believe most of trip is on the boat. They do get off on the beach at the Poly to hunt down the treasure chest, but then are back on the boat to eat their lunch. I am sure if you got there early you could mention your concerns to the crew and make them aware of the situation. You might also want to post over on the theme park and attractions board. I think you would get more of a response. Good Luck!!!

I let my 4 year old do this in January, he also is about a year behind in his speech developement because he has had undiagnosed (until just now) fluid build up behind his ears causing not complete hearing loss, but partial.
His cruise got rained out, so they toured around the resort instead.
Afterwards I wasn't able to get much out of him as far as details go (part of the trouble with his speech problem) but I did get that he had a BLAST. He loved it, was very excited about it, and wants to do it again. And he was all in one peice and the cast members said he was one of the cutest kids in their group.
I would trust the CM's, as hard as it is when you're the parent of a kid who might be slightly behind his peers one way or another, or a parent of any kid for that matter.
If there are any problems they do give you a pager when you check your kid in so that they can get ahold of you if the need arises.

I have not done this yet, but from the ones who've discussed it on the boards, the children have a great time. They get pirate mickey ears hats, and search for loot at different locations. They are also fed PB&J sandwiches, goldfish crackers and maybe gummy worms and a drink. We're planning on doing the Jester's cruise, much like the Pirate's cruise that apparently sets sail from POR.

We just retuned from a disney cruise. and I was concern with my DD's going to the kids clubs, and I beleive it was 1/25. They were very well originized in their check in /out and very safe. So I know from experience, I would not hesitate puting my DD's in something such as the pirate cruise. I bet You could call and get more info.

I wanted to send my son on this cruise but he has a peanut allergy. He can be around peanuts but can't eat them or peanut butter. Do they have an alternative meal (since peanut allergies are so prevalent :confused3 or can I pack something for him?

What a great question. I hope someone can answer it better than me, but if I remember correctly when booking it they asked if there were any allergies and listed specifically the things they would be eating to be sure. I'm sure if you call and ask they might be able to tell you what can be done if there is an allergy problem. It's Disney so they're likely to have an option for children with allergies. I'd call 407-wdw-dine (one of the numbers I know you can book from).
