Ive said before - Im not too hot on the goofy names that many people use as first names.... They just dont appeal to me. Nor does the "lets spell it funky" on traditional names....

But middle names? I think this is where folks should play - so Ive got a Quinn (who was the lead guy on the TV Show "Sliders" - which I loveeeeed!!!) for one of my boys... and my other is Anthony (only cuz THIS is what I REALLY wanted as my first name with him.... couldnt argue with ex-hubby any longer.)

So - got any cool middle names for your munchkins, with or without meaning?

DS1's is my FIL's first name, Thomas. :)
DS2's is Alexander -- we liked it as a first name but thought it was too long and would have been a PITA for him as a kid. :)

DD's middle name is Elizabeth. It's my mom's middle name and my mom's grandmother's middle name. I liked that it would skip every other generation.

The funny thing is DH has a daughter from his previous marriage and her middle name is Elizabeth, too, named for DH's mom's middle name. DD is DH's stepdaughter so it just seems funny that we did the same thing with our girls.

DD's first name is Caitlin--which may seem trendy to some but she was actually named for an ancestor I found in my geneaology.

Hannah has my middle name - Marie, my mom's name is Mary so it is after her as well.

Emily's middle name is Nicole, we just liked the way it sounded - and there weren't any other family names we liked.

My brother has my dad's first name for his middle name, my other brother has my other grandfather's middle name as his middle name.

Denae

DD1's middle name is Suzanne, after DH's mother, and DD2's middle name is Danielle, named after DH (Daniel)

Dd1 doesn't care for her middle name much, which I'm sorry for. I like it, and DMIL was delighted.

My newphew gave his son the middle name Arminius :scared:

Middle names, I think should be named after a family member, should connect a child to the past..probably because that's just the way my Mom did it.LOLMy middle name is Emma, after Mom's grandma, and my brother's each have one of our grandfathers first names.

My children's middle names have meaning to us.

DD's middle name is Lindsey. It was my Mom's maiden name, and therefore my Gram's last name as well, and it makes me happy to pass a name onto her honoring the two women I've loved most.

My son's middle name is James, which is my husband's and my FIL's first name...again, makes me happy. :goodvibes

My husband's Italian family had a thing where they named every firstborn son after the paternal grandfather and every firstborn daughter after the maternal grandmother..which would be okay, but 3 sisters married 3 brothers so they all named their kids the exact same thing. LOL Then the best friend(Dh's grandfather) of the brothers married the 4th sister (AND 5th sister after the first wife died)..so lots of the same names floating around. :rotfl:

I've got a Quinn too! :wave2: But it's the first name. His middle name is Alexander just because we liked it. My other son's middle name is Christopher named after DH's friend who died a few years ago.

I despised my middle name growing up(Emma), but when I was pregnant with DS, if he had been a girl he would have been Emma Grace(Grace after my paternal grandma)..so she may come around..it is one of my top girls names now.

DD1's middle name after my DAunt that passed away.
DD2's middle name is Maureen after DMIL.

I love that name..spelled THAT way.

We use family surnames as middle names. DD's is Davenport and DS's is Collier. I know a family that uses surnames as first names. At least their four daughters are never confused with someone else. One daughter has the same first name (a surname) as her dad.

My DS's middle name is Adam.

We love the name Adam but we could not decide if we want Jackson as a first name or Adam.
We decided that Jackson Adam xxxx sounds better then Adam Jackson xxxx

In order:
Carl
Zachery (mis-spelling intentional)
Ammon
Julian

My DD is Elizabeth- I wanted it as her first name, DH didn't.
This way, if she likes it better than her first name she can use it.
And at 11 she does! So I was right! :thumbsup2

We were having a tough time agreeing on a middle name for our son, and it was getting close to D-Day. About three weeks before he was born, Tom Landry (coach of the Dallas Cowboys) died of lukemia.

Of course all of the news had posted the records he/they had gained over the years, but every article and interview had a common theme regarding Coach Landry, and that was his integrity.

My wife and I had always been Cowboys fans since we were kids, and I always felt Coach Landry was the prime example of living your life through your faith (much better than I ever could). So that solved our name problem. It's Landry.

Now I only wish I had made it his first name. ;)

DD14's middle name is Danielle but it was never officially put on her birth certificate. I was young and dumb and filed for the cert. before I had thought of middle name. I chose it because her dad's name is Daniel. But then he named his other daughter Danielle, so DD14 says she wants to change it.

DD5 is Christine, to go with DH's name Chris. DD3 is Elise, I just loved that name! DD 6 months middle name is Brooklynn. My family crinkled up their nose at that one.

We went with family names for middle names on all 3 of our kids.

DD20's middle name is Leigh, after my Mom's middle name (although hers is spelled Lee).

DD12's middle name is Renae, which is my middle name.

We also had a DS, he passed away right after he was born and we knew it was going to happen so we picked family names for both of his names, Michael Jon. Both of our girls have said they would like to use his name someday for a middle name when they have children of their own.

My oldest DD middle name is Elisabeth after my mother and I

My younger DD is Jane after my aunt who passed away shortly before her birth.

My middle name is Gabrielle
