How large are the kids meals at table service restaurants? We are on the dxdp but will have 2 children that are under the age of 3...my husband thinks they will be fine eating off our plates, but I think that they (especially our 2.5 yr old daughter) will want what their big brother has.....just wondering what the portion size is for kids. Thanks!

definetly!!! fine eating off your plate!! IMO i have 6/9 past three years we have done dxdp and wayyyy tooo much food. At your childrens age they will be ok eating off your plate or sharing one meal. Not too mention you have to tip off the total of the meal and with dxdp it adds up to a good $50 a day. plus i dont think they offer it for under 3 yr old. save your money. but that is just my opinion! either way have FUN :-)

The kids meals are not large enough to split with an older sibling. Chicken nuggets are 4 nuggets and some fries. However with that said, you will have plenty of food. Normally our older child eats an appetizer from the adult menu with a portion of our food and then the kids meals are split between our younger two that are too young for the plan. Our oldest DD likes this plan because she knows if she is still hungry she gets to have a snack sooner. (Which honestly she would rather eat anyway!)

We found the total amount of food on the DxDDP to be plenty for sharing. Sometimes our toddler would share off of the adults' plates, other times she'd have part of her sister's kids meal, and sometimes older DD would decide the adult food looked better so she'd share with one of us and pass the entire kids meal along to younger DD.

To some degree it will depend on restaurant choice, but generally speaking with two adults on the deluxe plan you will have plenty of food to share down the line with your child and your two under-threes.

Guess it depends on the kids! My 6yo and 4yo could probably share that plate. Quite often, they eat about 2 nuggets and a couple french fries each as a meal, with some fruit for a dessert.

The kids meals are about the size of most restaurants, so it would be roughly the perfect amount for an older kid. The adult portions however include large appetizers, entrees and desserts. You will have plenty to share with someone else. If any of your kids are adventurous, I would say you share with that kid(s), and let the more picky one(s) have the kids meal. Your older kid can give some food to the younger ones if he is willing to eat some of yours. If none of your kids like more adult fare, then order two kids meals (one for the older kid and one for the younger kids). The younger ones may have food leftover, but at least your older one should get his fill. You would have to pay for one kids meal in that scenario, but the waitstaff is good about splitting checks between non-dining plan items and items on the dining plan. I have never had a table service meal on the deluxe dining plan without having a lot of food leftover, so I always suggest sharing when possible.

If you are concerned, you could always try to include a buffet once a day, since they can get whatever they'd like that way.

If I am reading correctly, there are three kids, two under 3 and one over 3. So, there would be three kids sharing the kids meal? Probably you would need to order one more kids meal. I agree with your feeling that the 2.5 will probably want what the older brother has, especially when his dessert is sitting there. Or you could go from DxDP to DDP and upgrade the 2.5 to a child? Otherwise, buffets will be your best bet. However, as you probably know, buffets are difficult and not at all relaxing with lots of little kids- especially when the kids out number the adults..

I would agree that there is 'enough food.' Even with my older sons, we could share between two of us if we wanted - but they would not share dessert! The problem with sharing an adult meal is that sometimes what the adult really wants to order will not be what the toddler will or can eat... You know your child best. Look at the menus. If the little ones can eat what you are DH will order, no problem.

The kids meals are really very tiny. 4 nuggets or 1 chicken leg is not usually enough to share. If you are buying a drink and dessert for the little ones OOP anyway it's only a dollar or two more to just get them the whole kids meal. Even the scoop of ice cream is a small size. I can't imagine being able to get away with not ordering almost 3 year olds any food unless they will eat what you like. I'd hate to have to pick something I knew the littles liked all week. You are spending so much for the trip with DxDDP it's probably worth the $15 to just order them each a kids meal. If you eat at signature places the desserts are really cute but usually not shareable because they are decorate your own type things like a paintable white chocolate mickey puzzle.
