ok, totally stupid question I know! Anyways I lost a formula I had. Have been looking for it for an hour!
Help ladies!!!!!!!!
ok I want to make the stripwork jumper dress. but instead make them patches. what is the formula. I know it is first layer __in then the second layer add.... etc etc. Help please.
Lori

There a few formulas in the bookmarks too. If you search for patchwork, it will bring up a couple.

And it will be our last trip to WDW probably for a couple of years so I'm leaning towards going but I'm so frustrated! Sorry for the rant I just needed to share!
That has got to be so frustating and disapointing! Your family can't be the only ones that had already made plans, I bet there are a lot of upset families in that company right now! I hope you go anyways, and it will probably be even more fun with your husband with you! But, I don't blame you for being upset about this!

I want to thank everyone for their encouragement on the dress! We leave in 11 days for our 1st trip to WDW. I am excited about the trip as well as the outfit I have made. You guys are great & I appreciate all the help in figuring out how to do this stuff. When I get back, I hope to post some more pictures of my newest outfits. I hope they are more like the ones I see on here. :cool1:

We can't wait to see more pictures! Have a great trip!

I almost forgot! I made this last week!! This was actually my second custom...thanks again to jham for the patterns and inspiration!

Buttons SCARE ME! IS there any secret to the button holes? My machine probably does something, but, I'm clueless! And by hand was NOT fun! HELP!!!

That is so pretty! I love the fabrics you are using! Buttonholes really aren't hard at all. There is probably a buttonhole setting on your machine. Look in your manual, and it should tell you how.

And, you can check this out "Buttonholes are our Friends" it was in the bookmarks: http://indietutes.blogspot.com/2007/07/buttonholes-are-our-friends.html

Lovin' all the new outfits ladies!!!

Welcome to all the newbies as well!!!!

We got some snow too! We were soooo excited, we haven't seen this much snow in the 4.5 years we have lived in Atlanta.

snow10.jpg

And to keep the pics Disney related -- Parker is wearing a Minnie Mouse hat!
snow4.jpg

Great snow pictures! Looks like everyone is having a blast!

:rotfl: I'm so jealous of all of the snow pictures. Living in Dallas we hardly get any snow. I'm from the St. Louis area where we usually got some snow every year so I kind of miss it! I'm really not a winter person, I like it nice and warm but I do miss it and my kids have never really seen a measurable amount on the ground. Dallas winters are kind of yucky IMO. We aren't nice and warm like FL, everything goes brown and dies and we don't get any of the fun winter snow. Today we are cold for here, around 43 degrees. I know to many of you that seems warm but here they won't even let our kids out for recess :rotfl: ! And we still get all of the yucky winter colds (three out of four of us have them right now), flu, strep throat (my personal favorite!), runny noses, etc. Send some of that snow our way please!

After living away from snow for 7 years...and living in CRAZY hot weather, Ft. Lauderdale for 4 years,...then mildly heavenly weather for 3 years, southern California...it was GREAT to come home to real seasons and real snow! I missed Christmas/winter feeling like Christmas/winter! Living in FL was hard because I thought I was on vacation all the time! And the humidity about killed me DEAD! Coming from the desert (SLC, UT) made it super hard to deal with! CA was much better, but, still missed the snow! I feel your pain!
Just had 4 kids home for most of the week w/flu and colds. FUN FUN FUN! Especially since they're missing next week for our trip! The school LOVES me! Good luck! Hope everyone's back to feeling normal soon!

Does anyone have a Janome 2049? I am trying to figure out the best stitch for applique, and I lost my manual for the machine. I cannot find the perfect stitch for the applique. If anyone has any suggestions that would be helpful. I have never had the need to use more than a regular or zigzag, and I can't figure out how to get the zigzag close together. TIA!

We've had a pretty snowy winter this year and I live right by the mouth of a canyon, so my house gets more than most areas and I love it but I'm sooooo sick of it right now! I'm getting spring fever. Maybe I should go to Florida!:rotfl2: It is supposed to be hovering somewhere around zero degrees when I drag my 4 kids and DH out at 4:30am to get to the airport!

soooo cute! and patterns? what patterns? :rolleyes1 Bring your stuff over here to do button holes my new machine is soooooo cool at button holes. It has a place in the foot to plop the button so it automatically measures the length and then if it is a 2 or 4 hole button, it can sew your button on for you! So where did you get the fabric? I'm always on the lookout for pink and brown (and blue and brown now!) and never find it. I'm sure we shop at the same Joanns.

We have had to battle a second round, even Seth, who never gets sick, has a runny nose. Did you know our (her kids are in the same district as mine even though we don't live very close by each other) school district has a form you can fill out when you take your kid out of school for vacation? They allow up to 10 excused absences for travel. It doesn't count as an absence if they complete and return their homework within X number of days from getting home or they do some kind of report or project on their vacation and present it to their class. I DID NOT KNOW THIS until yesterday.

2 gymbo boards I belong to often place group orders for pettiskirts.. I believe they are Sams Pettis. the problem is they take so long to get to you... 6-8 weeks I think I read, and thats a rush order:scared1: but you can order any size, length, color combo. they all get shipped to whoever places the order than you have to pay for shipping again to get them to you. I can't decide what color to get.. I want them all LOL
here's a pic so everyone knows what I'm talking about..
thumb.asp

I know there are 2 options... 1 is fuller than the other. if you want I can post more details ;)

Another gymbo addict here. My DD's wardrobe (aside from customs) is probably 95% gymbo. Love their clothes. Though I'm trying to cut down and be more reasonable on the amount of money I spend there.

I'd love info on group buys. I've been in on a few of them, but I'm always in the market for a new petti!

You aren't alone!!! I think my girls wear gymbo pretty much everyday except when we are at the world and even then my youngest will be in gymbo

are you on gymbofriens or gymborebel by chance

I'm on both gymbofriends and gymborebel. I'm revrob in both places. Any other friends or rebels here?

Well the weather here is supposed to be 74 tomorrow and 73 on Saturday. It may rain, it may not (the weather people are very rarely right LOL).

Is that warm enough for you? :) (It will still be cool in the mornings and evening-maybe even "cold")

Look what I learned how to do today!

It is much cuter is real life! Megan had it on for about 5 seconds before she threw it on the kitchen table. I would never have completed it without LisaZoe's help! Thank you so much for answering my desperate pms! Once I figured out the European pattern, it came together pretty quickly.

Cute Cute Cute!!!!

Stephres,

I think Megan and Morgan are about the same size-how much elastic do you put in the neck of Megan's peasant shirts? (Morgan is not home from schools yet LOL)

Thank you! The pattern I used said to use 22 inches for size 5, so that's what I did, lol.

A 4 is 21 inches and a 6 is 23. Hope this helps!

Yuck! Yah, I say get the sickness out before we leave! YEESH!
I did fill out the "vacation" form for the kids...learned that the other day when I called in for the 3rd time to report absences!
Got the fabric from Hobby Lobby...don't you have some very similar? I was thinking Lil's strip jumper dealie (great terminology there) had the same brown and pink.
OH! You mentioned me CASE ing the adorable brown & blue outfit from my 2 angels...HELP ME! Not sure what CASE means, but, if it means copy and steal and make myself...sign me up! I'll need your help!
Your bows turned out AMAZING, as always! I just pulled out my ribbon in an attempt to make some similar to the ones we made for the girls for Christmas. I'm going to make some for American Girl Place too. YIPPPPEEEEE!!! Just hope I can refrain from buying Saylor Bitty Baby...ugh! I want her to be excited to get it, but, I'm too excited to get it for her!!!
Okay, really gotta get to work! You guys have an incredible time! Be safe and give Florida a big "HI" for me....I'm sure it hasn't been the same since I left....hehe. OH! Hallden wants you to go to Pizza Planet for him too!!
Loveya, girl! Have fun! Let's get sewing when we get home! WOO HOO!!!

THANK YOU! You are an ANGEL!!! That link is so helpful! My machine totally does the buttonhole thing...suhweeeet! Now I want to start another project...leaving in two days...start another project...leaving in two days....
AGHHHHHHH!!!!

I am madisonsmommy77 on GR and on GF I think it's madisonsmommy7704

I just have to say I posted a similar question like my org one in this thread - on GR and and I am very surprized at the responce there most of the responces seem to think I'm crazy basically :confused3

ETA I think someone is getting a group order together on gymbofriends

So cute!!

My machine doesn't do buttonholes & they are a pain that way. If your machine does them for you, they're really easy.

Look what I learned how to do today!

Love it! I need to try that pattern. My 4 y/o loves to wear hats.

I so far behind in uploading pics, it's not funny. These are a few of the things I made the girls for Christmas.

DD4 wanted a canopy & since her bed isn't actually made for a canopy I made one with an embroidery hoop.
2007_01290080.jpg

Her doll bed/high chair/carseat set got recalled & it had a sleeping bag with it & the new one got to replace it didn't. Of course, this lead to the constant chorus of 'My babies NEED a sleeping bag'. Fine Mommy to the rescue. ;)

2007_01290081.jpg

Since she insists on wearing her summer pjs all winter too ('but they're PRINCESS pjs!') I made her a robe to wear while it's cold.

2007_01290082.jpg

I still feel like dd1 got a bit short-changed this year, but she didn't seem to notice. I made her a sock monkey (they're a bit of thing around our house & she didn't have one yet) dressed like Ariel. Yes, she does have legs & a tail under that fin. I decided I'd better make the fin removable so that when she decides that Ariel needs a dress there are legs to go under it. :lmao:

2007_01290084.jpg

I think this is my favorite of the things I made. I got the fabric to make my older dd a coat, but she got like 4 for her birthday :confused3 so obviously she didn't need it. DD1 actually needed a nice winter coat so there we go.

How cute is she?!:cutie:
Oh, she is SOO cute!! She looks like she's feeling much better! I love the outfit, it's absolutely adorable! What a great color combination!

I love the sweats! What a cute idea! I also love the cup. What brand of cup is that?

How CUTE!!! I really love it!!!

I think if you search Disney boutique clothing on eBay, you'll find stuff. I mostly lurk on this thread (I love to look at all the pictures), but I seem to remember it being mentioned near the beginning. Also, I'm sure some people here sell their things, but I'm pretty sure they can't advertise here.

Hey labdogs42!!! I didn't know you were one of the lurkers! :welcome: out of lurkdom!

I don't know if anyone remembers me but I was here alot in the summer and then we had a lot of medical issues come up and I was unable to post. I am back and trying to get through this thread! We are going to the World in March and I can't wait. My oldest two will wear customs each day we are there

I remember you!!! How are you doing?

I love the skirt and the shirts! Where did you find giraffe fabric?

You've got talent!! I love these outfits! Your DD is just too adorable!! I wish I would have sewed for Tessa when she was that little. I could kick myself for waiting until she was 4!

Would you just look at that cool rocker chick? That outfit is GREAT! I want one, too. Is it acceptable for adults to wear layered tulle skirts? :lmao:

Oh my gosh, what a great-looking bunch of kids!! How did you get them to all stand still, look at the camera, and look cute, all at the same time?

I love the valentine outfit- too cute! I'm having fun! I love that idea for the "squished penny" machines! Last time we went I used film containers, but who uses film anymore? I'm going to have to CASE that!
