OK, I couldn't take it anymore! I had to make a Disney outfit! It should still fit in Dec - at least I hope! I used the new Mickey fabric from Wal-Mart. I blinged the t-shirt with some iron-on crystals. I can't wait to try it on her!
It's not crooked in person, just hanging kind of wonky.

Okay, this is adorable! How did you do it? Pretend you are sewing challenged...

I was thinking of making some with a waistband as well. Could you post a picture?

Come on over! If you have any suggestions, let me know!![]()
Okay, don't laugh!
Here is my knock-off of the tutu twirl skirt. Not sure where DD will wear this but I had alot of fun making it. There are a couple things I will do different next time but for the most part, it came out pretty good. I was too chicken to make the tulle shorter than the underskirt. Once I get my rotary cutter and mat, I will try another one.

I cant get this link to work- anyone else having difficulty?
ME! Now what?
Do any craft stores sell the Mickey Head shaped crystals, I am not crafty but would love to somehow adhere that to a shirt for my DD. I guess if they don't I could do it myself.
I have two questions about making a patchwork twirl skirt:
==================
To grandmouse(?) or whoever knows about making patchwork by sewing together the strips then cutting squares.
-------------
Sewing together long strips before cutting your squares sounds like an excellent time-saving tip, but I have a question...
My mom always told me that you have to sew in reverse for a few stitches at the beginning/end of each seam to "lock" it, or else it will unravel. If you sew one long seam (on the strips) then cut that seam (into squares), the ends will not be locked. Does this create a problem? Or, do the seams lock themselves back together when you sew in the opposite direction to join the tiers?
Did that make any sense? I just don't want to have my patchwork unravel at the seams!
==============
I know what you mean, but it won't matter. First, when you sew your three squares together, (or four or more, depending on how many different fabrics you are using) you will make the strips the lengths you need. Then when you sew your three long strips together to make the tiers, you will be sewing over the seams where you originally joined the strips before you cut the squares and that will sew over where you cut. The only "backstitching" you will need to do is at the end of the seams joining the tiers (and your top and bottom hems and casing). I hope that makes sense.
