I saw the Buzz and Toy Story fabric on Ebay.

Jessica- Thanks for looking!

I wish I knew how to do fabric piecing and not have it look demented! I could just do that! Oh well, I'll keep looking!

I can't do faces well, so that limits what I can make. I can do Mickey and Minnie okay but the princesses forget it! Mainly humans I can't do.

I have a huge stash of fabric under my bed. I just love it, buy it, then decide what to make with it some day down the road. I sell some of it eventually. I had a 2 yard piece of the Woody but I must have sold it. I remember thinking how low it was going for. I was expecting a gold mine!

I made an outfit yesterday. I need to put the finishing touches on it, a bow and something else. It needs something. Then I'll post pictures.

I can't do faces either, so I sent my fabric panels to an embroiderer. I have four outfits left to complete for our trip: Ariel, Alice in Wonderland, Cinderella and Snow White.

Here's what the embroiderer did for me:

Ariel with Flounder and Sebastian on the jeans:

Those are awesome! I have an embroidery machine but don't have any software to do anything like that. I can embroider them all the way but I don't like it as well.

Actually, they were MINNIE appliques that came off of a winter hat. I would give it a few months and wait until people start selling winter items again. Otherwise, here's another Minnie applique:

Those are pretty much the same size as the one I had.

Good luck!

Okay...I think I'm getting the idea. I'm a little crafty but so many on this thread are awesome! Do you just cut around these fleece and all or do you try to seperate the applique from the original material?

Well, girls, I've been sewing by hand again. If I ever get a sewing machine:headache: !!!!

Anyway, no pattern, what do you think? I guess I'm practicing for disney outfits (and for when I get a machine:thumbsup2 !). This fabris was just laying around. I think I'll add the ruffle to the pants too.

is there a chart or easy way to figure out fabric size lol... my math challenged self I also get confused when i see 7/8 of a yard for example. I need a yard to inches converter.

36" is a yard, 7/8 of a yard would be 31.5".

To get that divide 36 by 8, that is the whole yard. Ech 1/8 of the yard is 4.5".

& of those 7- 1/8s or 7/8 is 7 x 4.5 = 31.5"

Hope that helps!

Great job on the hand sewing again! With all your skill you don't need a machine, but it might go faster with one. I love the ruffle!

I made a Minnie outfit the other day, so here are some pictures! I haven't made anything in a long time and just can't find the time right now to sit down. I am trying to get to making one a week! With the sale on ebay today I'll probably list it. I wasn't sure if my mom would want it for a gift or not but I haven't even showed her yet!

That is the front and here is the back! It is cute because it is so tiny! It is for a baby!

And the back! I love the back!

I wanted to put more ribbon on it but then how does it wash? I made it so you can take the bow off. Does anyone know or is it then handwashable only?

Very cute!!! I like it. What kind of stitch it that you do around the letters? I bought material and want to start practicing lol.. so far I sewed my daughter girl scout patches on. I wonder how many other people this thread has inspired to start sewing.

Do you have a printable pattern for the mickey ears?

So cute. If you ever want to make a pair of jeans for a bigger girl like that let me know :rolleyes1 My dd would love that and I seriously lack the skills. I am learning fast through this thread.

I just use a zigzag stitch and adjust the length and width to my desired likeness. I don't like them on top of each other and I like them long, makes it easier for me and seems to add a cute borderish like thing on. It really is only a couple of mm difference though.

Well. . . . can we?:confused3

:lmao: Sure...I live in Wisconsin....It's almost 90 here today, so I don't think anyone would want to come visit.

Seriously, though, when buying on Ebay, I have run into so many sellers that have such junk for products. It's taken me awhile to find *the* ones, KWIM? Unfortunately, alot of the sellers for boutique clothing are so outrageous when it comes to pricing, that I've had to do it myself. :rolleyes1 We have replicas...;) You wouldn't know by looking at the outfits which one sold on Ebay for $400 and which one I made myself. I love that! :woohoo:

thanks.. i really like the way it looks also

Here is DD's Snow White costume that her grandmother made. She's going to wear it on the cruise for formal night I think. I mean, other than Halloween and DisneyWorld, how many chances does a girl get to dress up like a princess!? princess:

So I am getting into this sewing outfits thing! I am just glad I missed all of this before we went to WDW this year- I dont think the budget could take it.

At WalMart today I saw a lot of "base" pieces that could be made into outfits. Cute red and white sailor pants, overalls and dresses. Start with one of those and just do the decorating! That is my plan anyway...

Here is my ?- Our next Disney trip wont be until 2009. Could I look for "base" pieces at the end of this season- but in the size DD would be then? I think it makes sense- but has anybody ever had a child really change their growing pattern from almost 2 to almost 4? My son didnt- but are girls different? Right now she has always been on the small side of clothes- and I figured if I stuck to dresses and swing tops- those can really cover a range....

I would think if you stuck to dresses & tops you would be OK. I know I thought I would be so smart, buy at the end of the season to save money, etc...

It never failed by the time the season rolled around, the clothes were too small for pants! Usually the length was never right, so I gave up & got smarter. I pay more but I buy at the beginning of the season, have her try them on and then buy them long because otherwise 1/2 through they would be too short again.

Tops/dresses -- I definitely could get away with but never any type of pants/shorts.

I'm trying to figure out how to make stuff for myself and an older DD she will be about 15 by the time we go. :lmao: I'm loving this thread though (and going broke just buying fabric for "I like this I'm sure I'll do something with it").

I just have a hard time sewing onto say a t-shirt. I bought one for myself that's big so I could practice sewing the fabric pieces onto it and I found it difficult since the shirt was already put together. I'm still working on making decent shirts, maybe when I have time. I'm hoping this summer I have more time to play with the sewing. I did manage to make DD these 2 dresses (not Disney related at all so am just linking it) --

I figure if I can do that, I *should* be able to get this applique stuff down but it's taking me a while. I'm not that good & both those dresses have TONS of mistakes on them but since they were both pretty much wear once type dresses & for my DD it was OK.

With that hair she looks like snow white! The dress is beautiful!

Sorry, forgot earlier. I just look around the house usually for something with mickey on it and then scan it and resize in paint for the mickey head. If I am being lazy I'll use cans and make on until it looks good, it isn't too hard, just empty out the cupboards finding the right size. I have found stickers to be good for templates.

I don't have any particular one I use and never know where or what I used for the last one so spend more time getting one sized right. I waste a ton of paper printing it out until it is the perfect size!
