OOOOHH OOOOOH OOOOOH!!!!!! I love Davy Jones!!!!!! I was SOOOOOO excited when I got to see the concert last year!!! He came SOOOOO close to us!!! I kept smacking Brian to take a picture, but Brian just sat there all awe struck as well!!! I mean he was THIS (I'm holding my arm aabout two feet out so you can tell how close he was) close to us!!!!!!!! :cloud9: I loved the Brady Bunch! I kept picturing him with the big old headphones on, one hand on his ear, singing.
I love him! And the monkees (Monkey's?) Every single song of there's is catchy and fabulous!
Ok, it's my turn to vent......

Yesterday, while getting ready for Rylee, my freezer stopped working and everything was melted!!!!!!!! I thought maybe Abby didn't shut it all the way the night before when she put her milkshake in there. Nope, the whole thing is dead... fridge and all!

THEN.... DH arrives with everyone (7 total!) and tells me that the van battery has been going dead on him consistently over the weekend!

THEN.... I call Sears b/c our fridge compressor is under warranty, they inform me that the service tech has 24hrs to return my call. 24 HOURS!!!!!!! So it could be 5pm today before I hear from him. So, we took everything we could save to my neighbor's spare fridge in their garage which just happened to be empty!!! My silver lining? Maybe!

THEN... While making tortilla chips, I splattered hot grease onto my hand. It's ok, it was only a few drops and only hurts when I wash my hands in hot water. :headache:

If we weren't already scraping to get by, this wouldn't be a problem. But, since dh just all of my trip savings for going to WV and now to buy a van battery, I'm a little upset.

On the upside, RYLEE IS HERE!!!!!!!!!! She loves the Thanksgiving dress I made for her and she told ds "Daddy look at my dress, it's for Thanksdinner!" She crackys me up! I'm most definite that I will have more great stories to keep you ladies entertained for the next few days!!!!
Sorry about your Series of Unfortunate Events!

I agree, this is a great time of year for expensive repairs and replacements!

Love it! But does Megan have more clothes than she can even wear? :rotfl:

Those 10 year old girls are SO ruthless! DD was excited that even her former best friend who now "hates" her told her her shirt was cute. I think that made her day. Those girls are pretty mean to her. She has a new friend this year though, so that definitely helps!

Girls are so mean to each other at this age! As a former middle school teacher, I have seen girls be so ruthless to each other. Just keep telling your daughter that it will pass and to be nice to everyone, it truly is the best bet. I am still best friends today with my two best friends for over 25+ years. We met in second grade and are still the best of friends. We made it through those 5-8 grade years (although I really don't remember us being mean to each other, just mean to others). I'm sure it's hard as a parent to watch this and not have negative feelings for the other child but you never know, next week they may be friends again! Got to love hormones!

Yes, he was on the Brady Bunch! He played at Marsha's prom & made all the teacher's swoon! Then he kissed Marsha & she said she'd never wash her face again. :cloud9: It was cute!

I watched the Monkees as reruns in the 70s as a girl.:hippie: Davy Jones seemed cute at the time because he was boyish in a manly/sexy way!:cloud9: Now as a mature woman, I sooo don't get it:confused3 ....until I found this, it brought back that girly butterfly in the tummy feeling!:hippie::rotfl: Beware all you Monkee swooners......
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dRr-sNlddRo&feature=related

oh let me say that I love love love davy jones. he is so adorable! I remember my very first record ever given to me was The Best of the Monkees! I still have it!

For those of you who were wondering, Davy Jones (from the Monkees, not POTC) had a guest star role on the Brady Bunch. Marsha, Marsha, Marsha got him to come and sing at her school for Prom, I think? He was at the Brady house too. Lucky Marsha! She got all of the guys!

OK, from the movie, right? I get it. Just a little slow on the uptake.

Now even though I love Davy and Barry, only Barry makes it on my top five list (even though my husband insists that he is not the least bit interested in anything I have to offer). My freebies are:

Bono (from U2)
Sting
Barry Manilow
Richard Gere
George Clooney

Richard and George are periodically taken off and someone else put on, but normally this is my list. Bono is definitely my #1 with Sting a close second.

Who does everyone else have? I know, way way way off topic!

My list is:

Kevin Bacon
Brad Pitt
Dave Foley
Johnny Depp
Weird Al

Ok, I admit I have weird taste. Other people end up on and off my list, but Kevin Bacon, Dave Foley, and weird Al are always on there. I like my guys geeky.

OK, You ALL know there's one really old or DEAD guy who would be on your list in the height of his popularity. I have two.

Sir Lawrence Olivier
River Phoenix

Here's a great link to some heart throbs in a musical slide show. YUMMY!!

http://youtube.com/watch?v=bDl2Uz5rIbo

Now, I probably need to go hide my head in shame...:rolleyes1

I know, I just don't understand why they have to be like that. I keep telling my daughter the same thing, just be nice, but she has a temper and has a hard time letting things slide. She never starts anything, but she's usually in the middle if there's trouble. Sigh. I keep telling her, ya still get in trouble (at school) whether you start it or end it. I also tell her that some of those girls don't always feel so good about themselves and the only way they can feel better is to make someone else feel bad. I worry more about dd5...she has the sweetest disposition and is always so kind to other kids. She's going to get eaten alive...:sad2:

Okay, for you Webkinz owners....yes this is ot, but don't forget to log in sometime on Thanksgiving. You'll get a little surprise gift for the holiday. They won't do it the next day so don't forget. Sometimes the servers get busy, so if it says you can't log in, keep trying. Usually for each major holiday they give something fun away that you can't buy at the w-shop. Sometimes it's food and a piece of clothing...for Halloween they gave out food and a monster/frankenstein hat. Cute.

Have fun!!!

:goodvibes As far as my girlhood puppy love male stars:
1. Donny Osmond (loved the purple socks & the rebel in him "A little bit Rock N Roll")
2. David Cassidy
3. Sean Cassidy
4. The Bay City Rollers
5. The youngest of the 8 is Enough kids-Adam? Actually saw him in Disneyland!

Flash forward to present day & these guys did not age well! I think I was high on all the Tang & Oscar Meyer my parents fed me! :lmao: I sooo don't get what the deal was with them.

The only man who does it for me nowdays is my main squeeze/hubby/best friend! :cloud9: He is the sexy man alive as far as I'm concerned!!! :lovestruc He is aging perfectly & I'm more in love with him than the day we met! :love2: And no-he is not watching over my shoulder making sure I type this!!!!:rotfl:

I'm not sure I have five, but my biggie is

Mandy Patinkin

I know, none of you know who he is....Inego Montoya from Princess Bride. Dr. Geiger from Chicago hope? Rube from Dead Like Me? Lately he was on Criminal Minds....I've seen him sing seven times, everytime he comes to Dallas Ft. Worth I'm right there!!! I've never met him, talked to him or anything, but I have been so close to him onstage I've seen the spittle fly out of his mouth. Oh my I think he's cute...

And my other biggie is Hugh Grant. I love his eyes. Dh has sweet eyes like that.

I can't really think of five. Lame, I know.

From the front bib to the back bib. On my first stripwork jumper I just tacked the straps down and did "for show" buttons. My DD was able to get in on over her head with no problem. On the second one, I wanted a little stretch in the straps so it would be even easier to pull on. I just measured the length of the strap on her other one from bib to bib and cut my elastic that long. I didn't cut the strap fabric any longer because it was already a bit long and I didn't want the total scrunchy look, just a bit of stretch. So the elastic is as long as you would want a fabric strap alone to be so when it just hangs, it doesn't ride up, but when you pull it over her head, they stretch out enough to get it on easily. Hope that helped. I've only made two.

Thanks! That's what I'll do, then. Front bib to back bib. I'm so excited to make this!

I saw them on the When Hell Freezes Over tour, which everyone thought would be their last reunion?

I just noticed DAVY JONES is going to be at EPCOT during Teresajoy's May trip. I think we should have a meet.......... But not during the show-I LOVE Davy JONES :)

Cindee
Gotta say i too thought you meant dead pirate Davy Jones, but as soon as I saw the Barry Manilow reference quickly realized you were talking about the Monkee. And even though I'm far too young to know who these people are or any of their songs I would gladly come over if you guys are gonna have a big pow wow at Epcot.

I do too, but don't tell anyone! I am a little embarassed especially since he's old enough to be my father! I have seen him in concert once about 15 years ago, it was fun!

On that same topic, I am also a FANILOW (Barry Manilow fan). I am going to see him in concert in February here in Dallas. It will be the third time I have had tickets and I haven't seen him yet! The first time my DH "Had" to go out of town and it was on Father's Day (we didn't have kids yet) so none of my friends could go and the second time he had hip surgery when we were supposed to see him in Vegas and the show was cancelled (we didn't end up going then either, uncle died - poor timing!). Hopefully third time will be a charm! My DH is so embarassed to go, I think he is hoping that a giant hole will open up in the ground and he won't have to go with me!

So you don't think I'm a total nerd, I did go and see the Police in concert this summer and it was fantastic, a total dream come true for me to see them together! Hopefully that will redeem my music taste a little!

The police can only so much, sister.

Oh, you poor dear!! They always kick you when your down, huh? Well I hope that you have a wonderful visit w/ your darling Rylee regardless of the fridge/battery situation. I know she is thrilled to be visiting and I bet she is beautiful in her thanksdinner dress. Well, darlin', it can't rain all the time! I'll be keeping my fingers crossed for a speedy recovery for your fridge.

I am wondering if turkey fabric is on sale??? I am broke so will get totally flamedfor buying fabric, but now I am getting jealous. Besides, she's itty bitty, it won't take much. But I hate the thought of ruffling anything right now. I need to buy a new ruffler...and have someone show me how to use it... any takers? I'm willling to drive to O-town or Palm Harbor ;) !! I don't know where Milton is, but I'd probably drive there too!!!
I think I'll run by Joann's after work and see if there is anything good.

I could only dream LOLOL.. Sad thing is he is older than my father:scared1:

I am hoping for a tour next year because of the new album but it doesnt look good. I already have my Eagles tickets change jar started.. since I know It will run me $500-$600

The one I saw was Farewell Tour 1 believe. I have also seen him alone 2 times.

I have also seen him alone 2 times.
Un, huh...I think they're might be a cover up here!!:scratchin Did his lawyers get to ya? :cool2: You said you had 2 babies & met him two times? Old enough to be your father or not-Picasso fathered kids well into his 80's!!!:rolleyes1

Weloveprincesses- I'm sorry that your dd's don't like your fabulous creations. After making the KaChow! shirts for my ds's this weekend my oldest (autism) doesn't want to where it because "it's too scratchy" (he has sensory issues). That made me want to cry! Partly because I didn't think of that & partly because of the work it took to make it.

Is it because it is scratchy on the inside? LisaZoe recommended something to put on the inside of the shirt after you applique if it is scratchy. I don't remember what it was called but I think she said that you get it in the section with the stabilizers and underwonder. It is just a soft backing that you iron on the insided of the shirt, kind of like what you have on the inside of store bought applique shirts. I hope this helps, I have a horrible headache and can't think very clear right now....

Oh, I'm so sorry your son can't wear that cute shirt! What kind of stabilizer did you use? I tried two different kinds while testing out my appliqueing abilities (or lack of in my case) but honestly, the thing that worked best without the little scratchy things on the inside, was a coffee filter! Sorry I can't remember who recommended it here on the boards. Dd9 hates stuff that's scratchy and I've bonked my head against the wall many a time frustrated because she won't wear something that bothers her. The coffee filter left virtually nothing behind and tore out very easily, maybe that would work for him too? (that is if you haven't already tried it!)Maggi

I'm not 100% sure why appliques bother him, it's sensory based. For the past year he only wears plain, no graphics, no silk screen, no applique boring shirts. Nothing that adds any weight, texture or anything-can he tolerate. No tags in anything either, since he was a baby. Use to be only 100% cotton for the longest time, but I think he's building a tolerance. because our Disneyland shirts were 50/50. His senses in his skin are in overdrive & what doesn't seem like anything to most is horrible for him. :sad1:
