Okay so I'm new here and all, so all I kept thinking to myself when I read this was, man I really hope Bob's a dog :rotfl2:

Okay, so here I am just trying to catch up on the thread after being at my day job all day and having a nice cup of hazelnut flavored coffee :surfweb: and after this comment I had to wipe the coffee splatters off the screen :lmao: :rotfl2: :lmao: Nana

Attention Applique-phobes...aka: those like me who are afraid to applique. :goodvibes

I found the best source for CHEAP appliques today! I noticed these lovely placemats my mom had that were covered with amazing appliqued pumpkins and other such fall stuff. She mentioned she got them at Kohl's super cheap. So stopped by today and sure enough I got a place mat covered in appliques for 1.99- I used the fall one today to accent a three piece outfit and I picked up a snowman one for the Christmas outfits I am planning!. I just cut out the shape I wanted- Heat n Bonded it down and stitched around it- very easy and pretty cute I will say! I will try to get soem pics uploaded- but just wanted to share my find!!

I would LOVE to see pics! It is so funny you mention this. I was at Kohl's a few days ago and was perusing the placmat aisles and thought, "huh, I wonder if I could use that on jeans?" I left without them (the story of my life). SO, I'd love to know how it comes out. It sounds like I need to head back to Kohl's.

I finally finished the jeans to go with my Fall Peasant top. What a job. The jeans took forever and broke one of the needles on my sewing maching..GRRR...They also have tons of hand stitching that took, almost forever. Sorry for the poor pictures. My camera is in a bad mood...and it keeps shutting off...

Love this! I need to get the move on and try to shir a peasant blouse like this.

Hi Everyone,

Does anyone know where to get the EPCOT fabric? Im not sure what it is called or anything, but its colorful and has kids faces on it.

Also, do you have a recommendation for glue for gluing gems or fabric pieces onto denim when you dont want to sew it? do the edges of the fabric fray then?

THanks so much!! Wendy
PS _did I see that there is more than 1 wendy on here?:hippie:

I think someone already answered about the Epcot fabric. As far as the glue goes - have you tried e6000? I think that stuff works on everything!

Okay so I'm new here and all, so all I kept thinking to myself when I read this was, man I really hope Bob's a dog :rotfl2:

Diet Dr. Pepper spewed all over my computer screen now! Thanks for the laugh!

Jham!!!!! Me and Spongie can't wait to meet you! :yay: :yay: :yay:

I don't get out much so this will be a treat without my kids ;)

I promise we're not psycho's (hardly at all)! :rolleyes1 Heh!

That's right everybody, Spongie and UtahMama are coming to my house tomorrow! :snooty: (I had to bribe them with fabric).

I can't wait either! I'm so excited, on my way home from dropping Dsis and fam at the airport (THEY'RE GOING TO DISNEYWORLD!--so jealous) I had to stop off at Hancocks and I was very, very bad! So even more 6x6 blocks! BTW I saw some pink fleece there with Miss Piggies all over it and had to really restrain myself from buying some for you! Not psycho here at all :rolleyes1 Sorry it won't be too much of a treat--my 4 kids will be here to drive us crazy! Maybe I can convince the big kids to watch the littles upstairs, but you know how kids get when there is company!:jumping1:

THANKSGIVING PREVIEW

DD has her Thanksgiving Breakfast Feast tommorrow morning so we finally tried on her Turkey outfit. This was the first time I cut the bottom of the jeans before I attatched the ruffle. They are a little long - looks like she'll be able to wear this next year too! Whoohoo. I made 2 of these sets (one for DNeice) and a matching set of overalls for DS. I'll post all of the kids together after Thursday!

BTW, this is my first fresh from the bath picture. I heard it's a requirement!!

And...Here's the portrait peasant dress/top (she's not going to wear it as a dress, that's why it's so short). I'll add a ruffle after thanksgiving. For now it's going under her Turkey top.

She loves this sooo much. I'm going to make her a nightgown with some flannel for a christmas present (one for her AG doll too)

Ok, I think I need to break down and get this pattern. It seems that so many of you guys have had great success with it. I guess I need to take the plunge.

I am sure she will get a lot of compliment at the feast tomorrow. After seeing all the work you ladies are doing on denims/jeans...I am going to have to get daring and try one!

Thanks for the kind words, I'm sure it'll all work out fine, I'm just bummin. I'm not sure if they'd wear peasant tops. It briefly crossed my mind when everyone here seemed to be making them....and cursing the pattern! :lmao: After that I figured it was out of my league to try it! It's definitely something I'd be up for, I'll have to ask them.

The Belle fabric is indeed the one with all the princesses on it. Sorry! I can't think that I've ever seen one will just Belle...but will add it to my list of things to watch out for when I shop. That and Grinch fabric. :)

They have tried on the skirts...they are adorable on dd5, but dd9 has her baby belly fat still and they're not so cute on her. I think that's why she doesn't like them. Can't figure why dd5 isn't excited. She's got twirly in her DNA. Thought she'd want to wear them 24/7.

I was thinking I'd sit the girls down and show them some of the things ya'll have made and see what they like. My luck, they'll LOVE Tom's stuff, and LisaZoe's stuff and CastleCreations stuff. Nothing that my poor novice brain can handle. But, I was thinking that maybe some of the vertical stripe tops with jeans they might like. It's a little more grownup ( I think) and they could still wear jeans. I was toying with the idea of deco'ing some jeans, farther up on the top, a little way's up in the inside and putting in a button on the outside and a strip of fabric with a button hole on the inside so that we could wear them as regular jeans if it was chilly, or if it was warm, roll them up and button them and there'd be fabric on both sides. Anyone think that would work? My concerns are that it'll make the jeans too bulky, and two, the jeans will be so bulky that they won't be cooler, they'll end up being hotter!!

I also wonder if they'd like the skirts if they weren't so twirly. Any thoughts on how to cut it down, like how much would you take off? I took tnmom's method of calculation (thank you for that!!), so the top strip is double their waist, the second strip is double that and the third strip is double the second strip. I like the way it looks personally, but how might I begin to cut it down? Bearing in mind, I have serged all the seams. (things that sounded like a good idea at the time.)

If you made it this far, thanks for reading my rambling post. Dh says I talk too much, guess he's probably right.

Maggi
I've been working on customs for our trip for 5 kids. 2 of them are 8 and definitely have gotten the belly in the last year. I've searched far and wide for simple patterns and ideas. PM me if you need any help/direction.

What Mickey fabric are you looking?

I made DD10 a peasant top out of scrap fabric because I was trying to make sure it fit right. She wore it to school the next day (plain pink sleeves, plain ivory bodice) and said she has never received so many compliments in her life from all the other little 10 year old girls. I made long sleeves and shirred near the top and hemmed the cuff. It was so easy.
What pattern did you use for the shirt? I can't find one big enough.

Is this the fabric you are looking for?

It's from Joann's - and it's pricey. $9.99 a yard (I think)

I ended up using the portrait peasant dress pattern and lengthening the bodice, since I wasn't putting a skirt on. DD is tall and thinish and wears a size 12 and the pattern only goes up to a size 8, so I cut out an 8 and added a buch to it, then made the practice top (it doesn't take long at all). The sleeves turned out perfect (even though I thought they looked HUGE) and the next time I will add a little more width and length to the bodice. I should probably make the armholes a little bigger too, but for some reason I can't quite figure out where to cut them bigger on the pattern to make them roomier. :confused3 It wasn't hard, but making the pattern bigger took a while. I bet Teresa's bookmarked peasant top would probably be easier.

2CuteKidsPlusOneCuteMama- That turkey outfit is adorable!!!! I love her expression with the red dress by itself....funny!

You are one talented girl!

CastleCreationsExtraordinaire- amazing! I notice when peeps try to thumbnail your pics they are "lost in another dimension" LOL! because you don't use PhotoBucket? S'no biggie, I think it's funny. Your creations always leave me speechless!!!!

This has to be my absolute most favorite fabric! :cloud9:My JoAnn's doesn't carry this :sad2:

I bet Teresa's bookmarked peasant top would probably be easier.
Somebody please clue me in on which peasant top in the bookmarks is the easiest, I'm having a hard time locating it.

First, Peasant tops are EASY! Don't let us fool you! It's just that YCMT pattern was a bit wonky. Someone posted pictures of how to fix it, you will be fine! I made one starting out using the YCMT pattern and ended up liking the one in the bookmarks better. It's really a very simple top to make. :thumbsup2

Teresajoy is totally right, the YCMT peasant top is messed up and the bookmark one is so much better, and free. :) I'm the one who posted the fix-it pics of the peasant top, you can PM me if you'd like me to email them to you instead of trying to look back through a weeks worth of pages...did anyone notice we've passed 20K posts on this thread?!!!
