Okay, I finally finished my "casual" princess outfits! Excuse the pics but my models were completely uncooperative today!
I added Aurora to DD1's pants:

This is the outfit I made for DD4:

Maybe I can post pics of them in the complete outfits tomorrow!

AWESOME! Too cute! Are those the pillow panels?

I took the expert advise from Nurse CastleCreations :mickeybar and went to Magic Kingdom today. I am so GLAD I took the time for myself. Morgan had the BEST time. She was asked to be in the Family Fun parade. She LOVED it!!!!!! To see her at the grand finale waving an american flag in front of a crowd of people on mainstreet brought tears to my eyes. To think two short years ago this little girl was in a fosterhome a world away..........

We also saw the new lights on the castle. AWESOME!!!!! I didn't post the castle pics because I don't want to spoil it for those going to see it themselves. It is TRULY amazing!!!!!!!

My Mother called, her husband is out of surgery and doing ok. Hopefully thinks will start to calm down. Thank you for the prayers and good thoughts. Sorry for the whine:guilty: earlier.

Cindee

Teresajoy, I used to ask myself the same thing when I lived in Michigan. I would cry on the airplane back to Michigan. I used to come down here 5 times a year-it was cheaper to stay! So I did! And my annual pass is MUCH cheaper as a FL resident LOL. Oh and no state income tax forms.........and did I mention no SNOW!!!!!!!!!!:cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

I'm BACK LOL :woohoo:

I would love to see them in the complete outfits. I love the princesses on the pants. I am going to CASE that for sure: how smart!

Aw, she looks so happy! I'm glad your day took a turn for the better. Don't feel guilty about venting here, I think it's a great place to let frustrations out...

which leads me to mine! I had already cut out the pieces of the peasant top from YCMT before I read that it doesn't quite fit right so I forged ahead and it didn't fit together right. I "made" the sleeves fit on but when Megan tried it on it was snug in the armpit and I am really worried because our neighbor is bigger than Megan. I will be really sad if it doesn't fit her because I don't have any more fabric to make her a new one. I swear I am going to use the peasant top from the Sewing for Dummies pattern: it's the only one I have ever liked! I keep trying fancier ones but I am sticking to the Dummies from now on!

Because I am masochistic I am trying the corset top with shirring! :scared1: Everyone says it is easy (I am looking at you, Milton girl!) so it had better be. Maybe the beautiful corset will make up for the fact that the top is too tight! I told her mom if I screwed up the top too badly she was just going to get a t-shirt with a turkey on it. Anyway, sorry for babbling. It is past my bedtime so I guess I am getting chatty. See y'all in the morning!

Hi Everyone,

Those turkey outfits are lookin great!!!

Question for you - Remember that bright green Mickey swirl fabric? I remember some of you cut out the mickey heads and put them on jeans - now, did you glue them on or iron them on or sew them on? I'd like to do some, but wasnt sure which way would look best!@!

Thanks, wendy

That is the SAME EXACT experience I had with the Family Fun Day parade! I cried all the way down main street watching my DD waving that flag. It truly was one of those experiences that I will never forget. I'm sure to many it is very trivial. But to me, it was just amazing.

If you want to give the YCMT another try, I've got photos of how to make it work. The corset top is easy...I learned that I loved shirring on this, and even got it right on my first attempt. I did practice a few lines on scraps, so that probably helped. I was so afraid of trying to shir anything I avoided it, but it really is that easy. If you can sew a straight line, you can do it. And if you can't sew a straight line, draw the first one on in washable pencil before you start, and then just line your foot up on the last line for the next. Really easy, I promise!

We did the family fun day parade too...unfortunately I had to be in it too. I would have much rather been on the side lines taking photos...:sad2:

It's the weeks and months on end of NO SUNSHINE that really get to me! Well, that and the bitter freezing cold. But, the furnace is working this year!!!! YEEE HAAA!!!! Instant heat!

Yet ANOTHER thing we don't have in Michigan!

Well the MILTON GIRL here:rotfl:, just wanted to say thanks to all of you for your kind comments! And the top in the second pic is the ycmt peasant top. And I promise that shirring IS EASY. I have never done this before and remember I just started sewing a few months ago. I will say that I definitely had to steam the shirt to shrink it up but it truly was easy! So GO FOR IT! And I'm talking to you Stephres!:rotfl2:

Your daughter is absolutely gorgeous and I love that outfit and now wish I had bought some of that brown fabric! I'm making a Tgiving outfit for dgd and I would  to CASE that!

I knew yours would look better than mine!!!!! No fair! That applique is absolutely gorgeous!!!!!!!!!!

Yet ANOTHER thing we don't have in Michigan!

You MIGHT have a Mermaid in Michigan. My Aunt is in Michigan. There is that rumor that she was a Weeki Woman YEARS ago. I will have to ask my other Aunt what she knows about that.

I have seen lots of talk about peasant top patterns recently and it got me to thinking.
The red shirt Morgan is wearing in the parade pic is a REALLY easy peasant top. I started with Simplicity 3680. (Which is a costume dress pattern). I just made it shorter and shirred the top and sleeves. I made one for her pirate outfit and got the whole thing done in about 45 minutes. I think I have made 4-5 tops this way (One I followed the directions and used bias tape and elastic-took WAY too long) I shir 4-5 rows around the neck and 2 on each sleeve. And the pattern comes with long and short sleeves.

I know that this has probably been asked before but does anyone here only use a serger for all their sewing? If so, what kind do you use?

If you have a sewing machine and a serger do you use the serger for anything other than finishing the hems?

Thanks!
