Hey everyone - I'm on a quick break at home for lunch. Since a few people posted and sent me PMs, I'm going to head over to Tampa tonight after church and pick up some more Little Einstein fabric. I might just buy the rest of both bolts, because there is not "that" much left.

So far - here's who I have:

bsusanmb - 1.5 yds of each
spongemommie05 - 2 yds of each
can't wait to go! - 2 yds of each

If anyone else wants any, send me a PM. I think that it may still be 30% off (I'm not positive though), and I'll only charge what it cost me, plus shipping to you!

And, I will be taking the requests in order, just in case I have more requests that I can get of fabric. I'm glad to help out my fellow DISers!!!

Oh, you are a doll! What a good friend you are. I really appreciate it! Let me know and I will get the $ out to you.

Makayla will LOVE it!

Susan

If I were attempting to make those without a pattern, I would say:
1. find a pattern for pants that are big in the legs (there's one on YCMT)
BEFORE stitching the inner or outer seam:
2. cut them off maybe a couple of inches below where you want them to end (so that they will kinda flounce like you're seeing).
3. Gather the bottom where you cut.
4. Make a band for the bottom. I would do this by figuring out how wide the pants are after being gathered at the bottom. Add one inch for seam. This will be the length of the fabric strip. Figure out how tall you want the band to be. My guess is that it is about 2" tall. Double that amount and add one inch for seams. Fold this in half (from top to bottom) and iron.
5. Attach band to the gathered pant leg.
6. Stitch inner or outer seam (whichever one you left open).

I may be completely off, though. That's how I would attempt it.

This is exactly what I was going to say too!

Okay, so, a while ago, after Heather finally got some more brown sparkly fabric, I found it! And I was so excited, I had to buy some, even though Heather already had hers! :rotfl2: It just suddenly seemed so rare and valuable! Then I started thinking, well, I have about one more week of fall before we switch over to Christmas attire, I should probably do something with that fabric. No way was I going to try to applique Cinderella, so I thought I'd just whip up what I call a "one week outfit". She'll only wear it for one week so who cares how it turns out. So I turned to my new favorite, the stripwork jumper and thought, hey, why not make some pants to go with it. How hard can that be? And I can just use my scraps, so it will be like free pants, right? I just found a pattern I had for some basic capris with one harmless ruffle and decided to ADD MORE RUFFLES! I don't know what I was thinking. Figuring that out and all that extra gathering was a lot of work for a one week outfit! (OWO). Then, since I was in experimental mode, why not try some fancy action on the pants leg? (Don't you dare tag fairy! I'd never dare to post outside this thread again!) I don't have a serger (yet:rolleyes1 another story, another day) so I wasn't about to ruche/rouche? (can't even spell it, let alone do it) a fabric strip. so I just gathered a scrap of ribbon and sloppily stitched it on thinking "pumpkin vine!" Then I went to applique my little pumpkin and realized that to attatch it to the vine and have it balance out, I'd have to attatch it upside down. Well sideways really. Oh well, OWO right? But I was surprised the applique went as well as it did. I used a narrower zig zag than usual because I'm used to appliqueing giant Mickey heads, but it turned out okay. Then I thought, I really need a peasant top to go under this! That was when sanity kicked in and I realized, waaaayyy too much sewing for a OWO! Besides, DD10 is begging for a peasant top with the pumpkin sleeves, so I'll make one for her and not the spoiled baby. Still...it would look cuter... enough already, here are the photos: (a little boy at Joanns today looked at her and asked "is that a costume?":rotfl: Kids cracky me up).

Now, these are my directions for making my own version of the Zuma Pants. However, I am apologising first because I am terrible at explaining things so people understand me...

Wow, someone's done their homework!!!! Do you have some that you can post pics of? I'm not too familiar with them, and can't decide if I like them or not.

Well, Tessa didn't get any fillings. They just did x-rays (were perplexed that the original dentist didn't do that) and looked at her teeth. She has more cavities than we thought. I'm embarassed to say how many... She goes back in on the 27th to fill some of them and than again in January to do the rest. :sad2:

Heather I feel your pain on this one, my DD had 3 the first time she went to the dentist, 3 more six months later, 1 more that they just found at her appt on Monday. She also has to get two fillings replaced, one fell out and another one is loose! I don't feel like we should have to pay anything for the 2 replacements neither one is more than a year old!!!! I am very embarassed by the amount of cavities that she has had, my DS only a year younger, has had 1 cavity. I don't understand they eat the same things, I brush their teeth the same way DS must just have better teeth than DD! DS must have teeth more like mine, I didn't have my first cavity until I was in 6th grade, my DH on the other hand(as does my MIL) has a mouthful of fillings....it must be somewhat hereditary! Hang in there with Tessa, I know my DD HATES the dentist now. She is just terrified at what they are going to do, she will barely walk in the door for a cleaning!

This is gorgeous! I love everything about it! That's one heck of a one week outfit!

"Wow, that's a cute outfit!" Megan said as she walked by. That is pretty fancy for an OWO (I love that and I am going to use it)! I love how the pumpkin and vine turned out!

M's kindergarten teacher asked when she is going to start seeing Christmas outfits on Megan! :scared1: I guess I'd better get going!

That's funny! I sort of think of Megan as not the queen but the princess of the stripwork jumper!

My son went to the dentist for the first time in April (he was 5) and he had 8 cavities. He had to get 4 silver caps and have 4 baby root canals. I felt like the worst mom in the world. Don't feel bad!!! I learned that day that having bad teeth can be heriditary. I also learned that day that my MIL went to the dentist once and had 40 cavities. Yes, I said 40! 20 on one side and 20 on the other. My husband's grandmother had all her teeth pulled for false teeth at 35 years old b/c hers were bad as well!

My DD has one cap from her first group of cavities and then she had a horrible experience with the second group of cavities. She ended up with a gum boil after she had her tooth filled(the filling is now loose), which then led to a baby root canal. They told me Monday that the filling that fell out now needs a root canal too...
I am glad to hear that bad teeth are hereditary, they just make me feel like a bad mother for letting her teeth get that way! Thanks for the encouragement there!!!!

My internet has been done and I have now close to 200 pages to read! We will see if it happens. LOL

Here is what I have been working on.

My 4 year old dd has 4 caps/cavitys. Her dentist won't fill them because he dosen't want to tramatize her and get her scared to goto the dentist. So, he caps them, and then they will fall out. The cap stops any farther decay. Her twin has no cavities and I brush them both the same. The dentist says that one just has more enamel on her teeth and the teeth are just stronger. This is common from what he tells me.

I have nightmares about going to the dentist when I was a kid...there was no fluoride and we had an old Navy dentist...I was 6 and had a toothache...my mom sent me to the dentist alone. He said he was going to have to pull my tooth and I said NO...so he pulled my ponytail and tied me to the chair with a sheet! and he pulled my 6 year permanent molar....I have that space to prove it to this day...

and I always had tons of cavities every visit...and the old drill, no speed drill no water with it...I HATED IT....

my kids got sealants on their teeth and we have fluoride in our water...they never had one cavity ever....

so, do they still do that? I thought they would have horrible cavities like I had...a mouth full of root canals and crowns...how I hate the dentist!

aimmeeg - Love the outfits!!! Is cinderella an applique or a panel?
the christmas skirt is very grinchesque!

jham - it is so cute! she still has 8 days to wear it!

Aimee, These are gorgeous!! How have you found time in your busy season to sew too?!?! Only a couple more weeks until your Dec trip isn't it? If I remember right you were going the same time that we were going to go....Great job!:thumbsup2

Oh Susan,

THAT IS TRAUMATIC!!! My poor DD is scared of the dentist and she goes to a fun pediatric dentist, where she watches TV and gets lots of little prizes for doing good. As for the sealants yes, the do still do them and I definitely plan on getting them for my DD, with the amount of cavities that she has already had it will be well worth it!!!

Yes, I do like them, they are so easy! It was funny because she was just walking by and casually gave her opinion. She also said, that's the little girl you like so much, isn't it? She's so silly: I love all the little (and big) boys and girls here.

This is gorgeous! I've missed you: I was hoping you were busy with your business, glad you are back. Your daughter looks so grown up with her hair pulled back like that.

So on Sunday we went to the zoo. I made these little pants to match her fall shirt. My husband asked if it was something I wore as a kid! HEHE
oh and these are kim possible pants and shoes I bought last fall and were big then and fit perfect now!
