Hi everyone... I just wanted you all to know that Ireland's had an accident. She needs a little pixie dust sent her way. She will need my care for a while, so I'm not sure when I will be back online. We just arrived home from the hospital, and I have to tell you....it was absolutely heartbreaking. Hearing that your child has been in an accident is just about the worst thing... I'm tearing up now, just thinking about how terrified I was..I won't go into detail, but to make a story short, while my Mom was watching her, and I was at school, she took out her bike, and had a terrible fall. She wasn't wearing a helmet. We live at the top of a hill, on a few acres, so thankfully she fell in the driveway and not in the street, but she lost consciousness and didn't know where she was or who she was. My mother had to carry her into the house. She wound up with a broken thumb, split lip, huge road rash area on her cheek and chin, which is really swollen, huge lump on her head, a concussion, and fluid in her elbow, that is supposed to go away. So my little darling will be out of commission for a while. Take care all and say a little prayer for her, and I think Santa will be buying her elbow pads, knee pads and a helmet..and maybe put the training wheels back on...:sad2:

Ohh I am so sorry. Pixie Dust for quick healing :tinker:
My DD had a similar fall in the spring. She wouldn't ride her bike for a month after that. Hope Ireland feels better soon. :grouphug: Hugs for you and your Mom that must have been very scary.

I just called the store that I bought my sewing machine from and they have a gathering foot and ruffler foot in stock....and I am going to drop by sometime today to pick them up...for some reason, I thought those foot runs hundreds of dollars? The lady that I talked to said that the gathering feet is $10 (and I may need an attachment for it for my machine which cost $8) and I believe she said the ruffler foot cost about $40 (not 100% sure since about that time my 2 yo started whining for something!).

I second the recommendation to get the ruffler foot. I think I paid $30 for mine.

When anyone here finds a fabric they like, but don't really NEED for anything at the moment, but decides to buy it for 'someday', how much do you buy? DH thinks I'm nuts, but I figure if I dont get it when I see something I like, it may not be there later.

It depends on how much I like it. If I think it will be a good mixer, but not necessarily a primary fabric in an outfit, I buy a yard. If I think I want to use it as a primary fabric in an outfity, I buy two yards. If I love it so much that I'd be heartbroken if I never find it again, I buy the whole bolt! Or 5 yards, depending on the price. I ALWAYS buy what I like when I see it now. It's just frustrating to try to go back and find it again.

Okay, I was finally able to upload pics. Here are two I made for DD4:

Don't know yet how I feel about the Minnie but she absolutely loves them both so I guess that's all that matters! And YES!, she thinks she is a model!:rotfl:

GREAT JOB! She looks to be very happy with her new outfits!

ABOUT THE TOY RECALLS! DO NOT throw the toys away. The toy manufacturers have stated that the toys need to be returned to the company and a replacement toy will be issued. I work for a major charitable organization that is highly visible at Christmas. We are having to go through every single toy that we give away at Christmas to make sure that it is not recalled. My understanding from our instruction is that disposing of the toys is against the law (someone could get ahold of it and get hurt). If you return the toy to the manufacturer, they will issue a credit for another toy.

I am so mad about this! My DS has been begging me for these and I bought some on Monday! I put them away for Christmas but I almost gave him them on Tuesday so he would leave me alone. It just makes me mad that they are making toys with such toxic stuff!

THankfully I didn't give them to him. He would have put at least one in his mouth. I will take them back to Toys R Us on Friday.
(Sorry I needed to vent):scared1:

Oh, the poor baby!! :grouphug: and :love2: from all of us. I feel so bad for her, you, and your mom!! Tessa shut her fingers in the bedroom door when she was 1 and had to get 2 of her fingers stitched up. I think I cried more than her (and she cried a LOT). I can't imagine how I'd feel if my kids got more serious injuries. Here's a  just for you.

Hey! :snooty:

We will be there the 24th through the 26th, shoot. Teresa mentioned you might swing by Tampa, is that a possibility?
You know I say those things just to get a :snooty: out of you!
I would love to meet up with some of you Floridians when we're down there. We'll definitely have to plan on it!!

Thank you! ONE YEAR OLD TODAY! Guess I need to change my siggy!
:cake: :bday: to your little cutie! And a :grouphug: for Mama. It's kinda sad when your youngest turns 1!

Sorry Steph, but that is just :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

If you find some of that Mickey snowball fabric, let me know! I'd love some and my WM doesn't have it!

I'm glad you appreciate my Steph torture!

If I see that Mickey fabric, I'll pick some up for you. How much would you want? I don't know when I'll get out there again, though.

What I do is take the ruffle and go around twice with a basting stitch. Then I do the pinning method I explained before and then I gather in between the pins. I sew the two pieces together trying to remove each pin as I go so I don't run over it and risk losing an eye. Then I take my seam ripper and take out all the basting stitches. Someone mentioned once to do them in a contrasting color so they are easier to see and I do that. And that's why it takes me 2 days to do a ruffle, LOL!

I do the multiple "find center and pin" thing, too. I usually do that until I have about 3" between pins to gather. I use the zig-zag over strong thread method, though.

I hope she starts feeling better soon. Ouch! Last year on vacation, my DS5 ran full tilt straight into a doorjam and got a pretty serious concussion (almost fractured his skull). It's really scary.
EE-OUCH!!! Poor little guy!

This is the third thing that I ever sewn...and I know it is not perfect, especially the gathers but I don't think I can take it apart anymore..the fabric are already fraying!!
th_IMG_2268p.jpg
I hope you're kidding about the gathers being bad and it not being perfect. I think it looks absolutely wonderful!!! GREAT job!!!!

Happy Birthday to DD1 THat is such a bitter sweet day to me. I always spend the day thinking of 1 year a go when I was in labor etc.

For me it depends on the fabric. If it's a juvenile print I would obviously use only for my (or someone else's) kids, I usually get 3 yards. If it's a more "adult" print, I will usually buy 5. If it's someting I LOVE and have ot have, I will buy as much as 10. I know this sounds like a lot, but I like having lengths that are flexible for when I do use them.

I bought it about two weeks ago. It was on the rack with the Juvenile apparel. I usually only buy what I need for a project but when I saw it I bought it all. They also had the scottie dog with the plaid that someone made an oufit out of.
Thanks!! I didn't see it when I looked at juvenile apparel at our Joann a few weeks ago, but they might have stuck it somewhere else. I'll have to ask them. :rotfl2: :lmao: Oh, I'm just too funny! Those ladies will tell you they don't carry anything if you ask. Maybe if I slip them a quarter (I'm a big spender)...

Tessa has been begging for aquadots since she saw the informercial. Luckily, I haven't bought her any (but I WAS going to get some for Christmas)! I'm sure Sawyer would have put them in his mouth, how scary!

I was going to look this up after I checked the DIS this morning, now I can just keep DISing!!!   My Grandma called last night. Of course my DD has this and was making a picture just yesterday. I am so over all of these recalls on toys. My grandma said that she refuses to buy any toys for the kids for Christmas this year. I am starting to feel like I agree with her! We have had some of the recalled toys already, but this is a down right deadly one!!!!! Especially with a one year old in the house.
Thanks for posting this.
I'm so sick of these recalls, too! How dare they sell us dangerous stuff for our kids!! We had to return some of the kid's favorite toys to JCPenney after they were recalled due to lead paint.

Great pictures and I LOVE the outfits! Uncle Jessie from Full House??!

I'm sure I did it wrong, but I just cut two pattern pieces one out of the cotton Spiderman fabric and one out of the fleece lining. I then just sandwiched them together and treated them like one piece of fabric. Except for the hood, I sewed the lining and cotton hood pieces together seperately then sewed them together so I could hide the seams (I'm explaining this really badly, sorry).
No, you explained it really well. Thank you!!!

   Look I even did three of these guys, I can fit in here if you help. :thumbsup2 :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
Good job on meeting the banana quota!! I haven't made any outfits specifically for Disney yet. But, I'd just say go with your gut for things that you think would be cute in a specific park. Obviously, a lot of people do animal print stuff for AK. Teresa is going to make ice cream themed skirts for all of our girls for eating at Beaches and Cream. So, just use your creativity and you'll come up with a great idea!

SO cute! I love the donald outfit!! And my dd thinks she should be in all pics, and poses for them all, too. :) Very adorable.

 and :tink: for Ireland & CastleCreations. How scary! I hope she's feeling better soon.

When I first started out (just a few months ago), I would just look at the pics that others posted here and would take note of what I really liked and wanted to CASE (copy and steal everything). Then I'd go buy the fabric and give it a shot! Now when I see a fabric that I like, I buy it. Sometimes I know what I'm gonna do with it, sometimes I don't. I know that the inspiration will come to me. I look all over the place for inspiration (catalogs, ebay, pics here). When I find something I like, I save a pic in a file for future reference.

WELCOME! I hope you find the perfect outfits to create!

This is what I do. I have a HUGE pic folder on my computer of things I really like & want to make someday.

$40 sounds a little steep! You either have a slant shank, a low shank, or a high shank. So, if you find out what one you have, you could look online to find one. If you need a low shank, Joann has them for $14.99. I believe they are $30 at Hancocks. I found my slant shank on ebay for $15 w/ shipping.

When anyone here finds a fabric they like, but don't really NEED for anything at the moment, but decides to buy it for 'someday', how much do you buy? DH thinks I'm nuts, but I figure if I dont get it when I see something I like, it may not be there later.
I buy at least 3 yards! When I started, I'd only get 1 yard and I now realize you can't do much with 1 yard.

I hear you I was left out also. I think HeatherSue is playing favorites.:snooty:
Well, I never! :snooty:

Awww it doesn't work the more you post the more they post and we never move up on the list.:lmao:

No kidding I am starting to think instead of multi quoting this whole thing I should have just done seperate ones to cheat.:lmao:
Hey, it takes a lot of work to be this obnoxious with the posts and get to #11!

She IS a model!! I love the pointed toe. Is she taking lessons from Josephine?

ABOUT THE TOY RECALLS! DO NOT throw the toys away. The toy manufacturers have stated that the toys need to be returned to the company and a replacement toy will be issued. I work for a major charitable organization that is highly visible at Christmas. We are having to go through every single toy that we give away at Christmas to make sure that it is not recalled. If you return the toy to the manufacturer, they will issue a credit for another toy.

I 2nd that!!! If you throw them away, the toy company won't have to pay for their mistake, either! It really irks me when people throw away recalled toys instead of making the manufacturer give you your money back! We need to make it hurt so they'll be more careful!!

Hey, it takes a lot of work to be this obnoxious with the posts and get to #11!

Hey this post puts me at 99 I believe. :snooty: :lmao: I am impatiently waiting for the mail person to get here to see if I get my spotty dotty envelope from one Heather Sue. :rolleyes1 I just hope my sewing machine survives me adding the ruffle to Megans overalls this morning. :lmao: :rotfl: :confused3

Love both of the outfits but Donald is my favorite. You don't see us doing too much with him so it's nice to see something different! Great Job!!!

Thank you! She loves Donald and begged me for an outfit!

GREAT JOB! She looks to be very happy with her new outfits!

Thanks!:)

i love them both , i especially have to CASE the minnie one:rolleyes1 i love that you added yellow ruffles i just got 10 yrd of the minnie dot because my DD wanted another outfit i only paid $5 it was on sale for 50 cents a yard.. whoo hoo:idea: thanks for the inspiration..

Thank you and WOW! Great deal on the Minnie dot! CASE away!

This is so cute! My DD would love it. How is the Donald on the shirt? Is it an iron on or an applique?

Thank you! Well, I cut him out of fabric, then used heatnbond lite and them went around him with sparkly fabric paint! That shirt was such a pain though, because I messed up so many times and I finished it once and then took the ENTIRE thing apart and started over!

:cake: :bday: to your little cutie! And a :grouphug: for Mama. It's kinda sad when your youngest turns 1!

Thank you! It is sad to think I won't have any more babies!

These are adorable I love the Donald Duck! The yellow ruffle and the rick rack on the skirt are fabulous!

Sooo sweet! Thank you!

SO cute! I love the donald outfit!! And my dd thinks she should be in all pics, and poses for them all, too. :) Very adorable.

Thank you!

I love these. I think the Minnie looks great!

Thanks!

She IS a model!! I love the pointed toe. Is she taking lessons from Josephine?

Thank you! And she does look at all the pics on here, so it is very possible that she is!

I used to buy a yard but now I buy two. I used to worry about the waste but now I take my scraps and make a strip skirt so I don't feel so bad!

I love everyone's creations! I want to make some pants for my dds, just cotton with the ruffle on the bottom. What pattern do you guys use?

I have a pattern for capris that I use a lot, but I have used butterick 3955 for pants and it was very easy. It has cute variations: ruffle, front slits and bow, contrast hem bands and trim, etc.

Aw, she is so cute with her perfectly pointed toe! She and JoJo can go on the road together impressing everyone with their cuteness!

Oh, great job on the outfits. I think you'll get a lot of attention with the Donald one, since you don't see it every day. The Minnie one with the yellow is so cute!
