CASTLECREATIONS

I have really been affected by your story. I truly hope lil Ireland is back to herself real soon. I will be saying prayers for her every night untill she is well again. Please pm me with your address cause I would love to send her some get well wishes in the mail.

We should all send lil Miss Ireland a get well/thinking of you card. Just pull together and "shower her with cards". What lil one dosen't like mail? That is of course if Castlecreations wants to give me her address. I would be happy to do the honors of sharing her address, so that she can use her time with her daughter. If your interesed please pm me and I will get that address when and if it is shared with me.

This story is really pulling at my heart. I couldn't imagine that happening to one of my 4, but could see it happening to anyone. GOd bless!

These photos aren't the best, when I get a chance I will upload my photopass pics.

Here is DD in her Peter Pan skirt. I had intended to make an empire waist sundress but wound up doing just a simple skirt.

We had breakfast at Ohana before we left and Lilo loved her outfit, I just didn't get a good picture of the two together.

I love pics from the World! Great outfits. Love the Peter Pan fabric. I don't think I've seen that before. And the costumes are very original.

This is such a nice thing you are suggesting. I would be happy to participate if Castlecreations is open to this.

I love it! I bought Ariel fleece and a pattern (simplicity 5362) for a hoodie for my daughter. Now I am wondering if I should line it. Now that I read the pattern I see there is no instructions for lining it. Did you figure it out yourself? It sure is cute!
I'm sure I did it wrong, but I just cut two pattern pieces one out of the cotton Spiderman fabric and one out of the fleece lining. I then just sandwiched them together and treated them like one piece of fabric. Except for the hood, I sewed the lining and cotton hood pieces together seperately then sewed them together so I could hide the seams (I'm explaining this really badly, sorry).

I love that pattern and I had forgotten about it until now! I love seeing pictures of your little cutie, too! What kind of fabric is that on the outside? Is it just a cotton and then you line it with the fleece? If so, Steph and I need a tutorial on how you line it!
Thanks! It's just a cotton fabric with a fleece lining. It kind of looks a little strange, almost like a quilt, but it is warmer. And I figure he's still too little to be embarassed by wearing homemade clothes.

Hi everyone... I just wanted you all to know that Ireland's had an accident. She needs a little pixie dust sent her way. She will need my care for a while, so I'm not sure when I will be back online. We just arrived home from the hospital, and I have to tell you....it was absolutely heartbreaking. Hearing that your child has been in an accident is just about the worst thing... I'm tearing up now, just thinking about how terrified I was..I won't go into detail, but to make a story short, while my Mom was watching her, and I was at school, she took out her bike, and had a terrible fall. She wasn't wearing a helmet. We live at the top of a hill, on a few acres, so thankfully she fell in the driveway and not in the street, but she lost consciousness and didn't know where she was or who she was. My mother had to carry her into the house. She wound up with a broken thumb, split lip, huge road rash area on her cheek and chin, which is really swollen, huge lump on her head, a concussion, and fluid in her elbow, that is supposed to go away. So my little darling will be out of commission for a while. Take care all and say a little prayer for her, and I think Santa will be buying her elbow pads, knee pads and a helmet..and maybe put the training wheels back on...:sad2:
Yikes! Poor Ireland! She's in my thoughts and prayers for a quick recovery. My 3yo broke his arm pretty dramatically this summer and it was terrible for DH and I. The amazing thing was how quickly he bounced back. They really do heal so quickly. I hope you are able to keep her taken care of and not get too behind on school (you're in nursing school right?).

Here's a picture of the Christmas stripwork jumper that I made dd. The strap are just safety pinned for now...I haven't decided if I want to attempt button holes or just put sew on snaps on it... it is a size 5, and I thought it would be roomy on my dd, but it really isn't all that big. I think I should make a size 6 next time...anyone knows if the sizing runs slightly small.

This is the third thing that I ever sewn...and I know it is not perfect, especially the gathers but I don't think I can take it apart anymore..the fabric are already fraying!!

IMG_2268p.jpg
This looks great. I was really afraid to make buttonholes too but I was surprised just how easy it is with the newer machines. But I think snaps would be a great "cheat" too.

I LOVE this. DS would love it if I made him something like this. Was it hard? i have never done a zipper before either!
I was surprised just how easy it was. Zippers aren't really as bad as I had made them out to be in my head. Anyone who does fabulous appliques like you should be able to whip one right out!
If your child has any of these "Take it away right away!!!!!". It seems they can turn into the date rape drug GHB once ingested!!!!!

Cindee
Wow, that is so random. I mean Aquadots turn into date-rape drug if you swallow them? What's next? It's a shame I can't just get my kids clothing for Christmas. But, I think they would be a little disappointed if Santa only brought clothes :santa:

These photos aren't the best, when I get a chance I will upload my photopass pics.

I love these outfits! They are great for the older girl. I would love to make some of these for my 11yo step-daughter Tessa. I love the Peter Pan fabric, was it vintage?

Wow beautiful daughter, and great job with all of the outfits!

I love the idea of sending cards. I would be willing. I know my dd4 loves to get cards and things in the mail, it makes her feel special!:flower3:

If I sound totally out of the loop here, but I just recently stumbled upon this thread and would love to learn how to do all of this spectacular stuff.
But first off, how do you decide which outfits to where....where? I mean, do you just browse the photos on here and decide what patterns you like and then find fabric that would go with it, or are there certain prints you decide for the kiddos to where at each park/character meal etc. ahead of time, due to your ADR's iteneraries??????? The photos(which really is my real passion-scrapbooking/photos etc.) look soooooooooooo awesome when everyone wears coordinating outfits, and I saw in one photo the Dads/Grandpas also blend nicely by just wearing the same color scheme! I am soooo impressed.
We are doing in Dec. and it is my 10th trip (I think) but first expanded- extended family trip. I want us to ROCK like you guys!   Look I even did three of these guys, I can fit in here if you help. :thumbsup2 :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

I feel like I've been gone forever and I'll never catch up with everyone's wonderful Halloween costumes and beautiful customs. You ladies seriously rock!! So great to see new posters too! WAAHOOO!!

I've been sewing like crazy because I'm starting to feel the crunch in getting everything done before the trip. Only 30 more days!! :cool1: I was starting to feel like maybe I was crazy for killing myself to get all these outfits done, but then I see the fabulous Disney pictures and I'm encouraged again. Thanks for sharing ladies!!

Hey!!! We'll be at the Poly too!!! I'll make sure to post my stuff when I get it done so you can look for us!! I had thought we might just hang out at the hotel on the 11th, find the pool and all that so maybe we'll see you checking in!!

Okay, so I'm pretty much on target with my thoughts. I love when that happens...:) And is the pool warm enough if it's cold? My girls are fish and I'd love to be able to take them to the pool..I had heard it was heated....

Are you making dresses for Ella? I was thinking of making one, but how to you make it warm enough for them if it's cold? Same as a skirt maybe?

I hope we see you all!!!

Maggi

I've made a couple of dresses/skirts for her, I'm planning on long sleeve tee shirts for underneath and tights or leggings also. DH now thinks I'm absoultely nuts because I keep making the kids customs for the trip. I do feel like maybe I've gone a little overboard, but that's part of the fun!

I also feel like I'm going to need about 40 suitcases. I'm kind of an over-packer anyway and when you add customs and all the weather possibilities into the mix, well, let's just say the people on the flight with us will probably ask if we're moving to Florida! :rotfl:

We will be at the WL Dec 8-14. SIL, BIL and my neice and nephew will be with us. I'm making Mickey head t's for all 4 and a few customs for the girls. I've even made a couple t's for me and one for SIL. I'm also hoping to make myself a pair of decoupage capris. Sounds like we're all thinking along the same lines as far as clothing ideas for the unpredictable weather. My kids are also determined to swim and we're from Maine, so I'm hoping it will feel warm enough for them.

DD10 on the chaise at Minnie's house--No Sewing Machine at Disneyland!!! and Minnie's house will be closed when we go to Disney World! What am I to do?

Your photos are great and your children are all beautiful. I had to quote this picture because I'm currently CASEing this top for my Dniece (10). I knew I was stealing an idea from someone here, but couldn't remember who. Thanks for the inspiration!! :thumbsup2

where did you get that fabric! I have to have it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That Ariel pic brought tears to my eyes!!!! And there is that super cute princess outfit that I want to CASE!!! Would you remind me what pattern you used?

Thanks, that pic brings tears to my eyes too, every time I see it. That Ariel was so sweet talking to my baby like she was a big girl. My little one felt so special. Now I'm tearing up again!

Thought I'd post everyone with over 100 posts on this thread. I am adding my 139 hkite posts to my HeatherSue posts. I'm coming after you, t-beri! I wanna be #10!:

I too covet that peter pan fabric! Your DD looks great!

Thanks everyone for boosting my confidence. I was so frustrated, and told DH maybe sewing just isn't for me. You are probably right that no one will even notice the imperfections unless I mention it to them...but I am such a perfectionist and all those imperfections bothers me! Well...I am going to get more fabric so I can practice, practice, practice. Our next trip is in June, so I'd like to get my dd a few customs for that trip....and maybe my ds2 as well.

it's wonderful! I love the colors. If you don't mention the problems, no one will notice (A hard learned lesson...I was told by my sewing group). I bet your dd can't wait until Christmas to wear it!

This turned out really cute and only your 3rd thing you have sewn? Very impressive!!! One thing that people have done with the straps on those jumpers instad of buttons is make the straps double in length and then put a piece of elastic in it, they have kind of a scrunchie look. They are very cute.

Great job. It looks beautiful.

This is really cute!! Great job!
I love that idea for putting elastic in the straps...that's a good one!
Maggi

This looks great! You did an awesome job!:thumbsup2

I think it is great! It looks great for only your 3rd thing. my daughter wears a size 4 and I cut a size 5 pattern for her

This looks great. The gathers don't need to be perfect. No one is going to notice with all the twirling your DD will be doing in it. You're not a machine, things aren't going to be absolutely perfect, that's what makes it special and one of a kind.

This looks great. I was really afraid to make buttonholes too but I was surprised just how easy it is with the newer machines. But I think snaps would be a great "cheat" too.

She's so right!!! My motto on this would be "It will never be noticed on a fast moving child" You're probably your own worst critic, too. I know some of the stuff I make I can't stand to look at sometimes when I'm done, and those seem to be the things that get the greatest compliments. Go figure.

I think this is GREAT! Your gathering looks perfect to me. You should be very proud of yourself!

Ok, I know this is not Disney, but Morgan wants to go to Grinchmas (She thinks the grinch is nice ) this year. I can't find any Dr. Suess fabric. Has anyone seen any lately?

Cindee

OOH! OOH! I wanna know! I wanna know!

Thank you, I am going to try this on my next skirt. I have just been fighting with that dang ruffler foot. Hopefully I win the next fight!!! I think my problem is the stitch length! Thanks again.

No problem! Hope it works for ou!

:lmao: :lmao: :rotfl2:

Okay, so I got a ruffler foot, (actually taking it back today because I got the wrong one..grrrr). I've used the baste and pull thread to gather method before which STINKS:scared: and was looking forward to ruffling with this before I attached it....can I do that?

Absolutely! That's exactly what I do!

If I sound totally out of the loop here, but I just recently stumbled upon this thread and would love to learn how to do all of this spectacular stuff.

When I first started out (just a few months ago), I would just look at the pics that others posted here and would take note of what I really liked and wanted to CASE (copy and steal everything). Then I'd go buy the fabric and give it a shot! Now when I see a fabric that I like, I buy it. Sometimes I know what I'm gonna do with it, sometimes I don't. I know that the inspiration will come to me. I look all over the place for inspiration (catalogs, ebay, pics here). When I find something I like, I save a pic in a file for future reference.

WELCOME! I hope you find the perfect outfits to create!

About 1000 pages ago, I remember reading a motto. Better to be done than perfect. Something like that. I use it for my motto, or I should say I'd LIKE to use it for my motto. I can't use a motto if I can't remember it!

Somehow I missed this in multi quote. THE CREATOR OF THE PETER PAN SKIRT! Please add me to the list of those DYING to know where you got that fabric!

I just called the store that I bought my sewing machine from and they have a gathering foot and ruffler foot in stock....and I am going to drop by sometime today to pick them up...for some reason, I thought those foot runs hundreds of dollars? The lady that I talked to said that the gathering feet is $10 (and I may need an attachment for it for my machine which cost $8) and I believe she said the ruffler foot cost about $40 (not 100% sure since about that time my 2 yo started whining for something!).
