When anyone here finds a fabric they like, but don't really NEED for anything at the moment, but decides to buy it for 'someday', how much do you buy? DH thinks I'm nuts, but I figure if I dont get it when I see something I like, it may not be there later.

Hi everyone... I just wanted you all to know that Ireland's had an accident. She needs a little pixie dust sent her way. She will need my care for a while, so I'm not sure when I will be back online. We just arrived home from the hospital, and I have to tell you....it was absolutely heartbreaking. Hearing that your child has been in an accident is just about the worst thing... I'm tearing up now, just thinking about how terrified I was..I won't go into detail, but to make a story short, while my Mom was watching her, and I was at school, she took out her bike, and had a terrible fall. She wasn't wearing a helmet. We live at the top of a hill, on a few acres, so thankfully she fell in the driveway and not in the street, but she lost consciousness and didn't know where she was or who she was. My mother had to carry her into the house. She wound up with a broken thumb, split lip, huge road rash area on her cheek and chin, which is really swollen, huge lump on her head, a concussion, and fluid in her elbow, that is supposed to go away. So my little darling will be out of commission for a while. Take care all and say a little prayer for her, and I think Santa will be buying her elbow pads, knee pads and a helmet..and maybe put the training wheels back on...:sad2:

Oh I am so sorry. Hope she gets better quickly. Poor thing.:grouphug:

OKAY everyone...i've got the address for lil Miss. Ireland. If you are interested in Showering her with a card or well wishes please contact me via IM and I will share this with you. Thanks

I just called the store that I bought my sewing machine from and they have a gathering foot and ruffler foot in stock....and I am going to drop by sometime today to pick them up...for some reason, I thought those foot runs hundreds of dollars? The lady that I talked to said that the gathering feet is $10 (and I may need an attachment for it for my machine which cost $8) and I believe she said the ruffler foot cost about $40 (not 100% sure since about that time my 2 yo started whining for something!).

I'd definitely recommend starting with the ruffler foot. I have a gathering foot and a ruffler foot and the latter is the one I use for twirl skirts and such.

I usually get 2 yards. I usually sew for a 2-year-old so sometimes I'll get 1 yard, but 2 gives me more options. I can usually get a pair of pajama pants for DS8 or DS5 out of one yard unless it has a vertical print.

Here's a picture of the Christmas stripwork jumper that I made dd. The strap are just safety pinned for now...I haven't decided if I want to attempt button holes or just put sew on snaps on it... it is a size 5, and I thought it would be roomy on my dd, but it really isn't all that big. I think I should make a size 6 next time...anyone knows if the sizing runs slightly small.

This is the third thing that I ever sewn...and I know it is not perfect, especially the gathers but I don't think I can take it apart anymore..the fabric are already fraying!!

Great Job!!! What age is the child you made it for? I am in the middle of one for my 3yo. I used size 5 also so I could have some room.

:grouphug: to CastleCreations. I hate that your daughter is hurt. MY family will send prayers your way.

I haven't posted in a few days, I have been sewing, made both dds a strip skirt, a twirl skirt, and another strip skirt! LOL! I ordered some additional feet from our fav auction site, and can't wait to get them in!!!! It will help out tremendously!

I love everyone's creations! I want to make some pants for my dds, just cotton with the ruffle on the bottom. What pattern do you guys use?

Oh no I am so sorry about your little one. It made me gasp for air just reading it. for you and   two for her. pixiedust: to help :cake: and the cake is because cake heals all. Cake can do wonders. I am sorry for her accident and I do hope and prey for a speey recovery.:cheer2:

on many occasion i too have had a craptacular sewing machine , pattern or fabric :goodvibes or maybe it was just me :rotfl:

It is just crap no guid lines. It gets jammed up sewing cotton fabric. I hate it I think my grandma found it in the broken bargin bin at the dollar store. Someone had told me to ask for a new one for xmas but thats how I got this one last year. I love my grams but I think she didn't think i was serious about sewing. My hubby is going to be a loss for words come tax refund time if you ladys know what I mean. Atleast i am not the one.

Cute:cutie: Okay spill what is your secret ? Do you have a sewing fairy? because everytime i get on here you are posting 1 or 2 outfits. :goodvibes You Go Girl:banana:

I would like to meet this sewing fairy. I have a few projects for her.:lmao: :rotfl: :rotfl2:

I never move up on this thread. I have to remember. Just keep posting, just keep posting. Just keep posting, posting, posting.
Awww it doesn't work the more you post the more they post and we never move up on the list.:lmao:

If your child has any of these "Take it away right away!!!!!". It seems they can turn into the date rape drug GHB once ingested!!!!!

Now this is starting to make me angry:mad: Why is it that we are so worried about aip port security but it is ok to infect 50,000 people with frozen pizza and kill our kids with something labled as water? What are these people thinking?

Im writing down that your interested, if and when she replies, I will let you know. Thanks
Please add me to the get well card list.

I hear you I was left out also. I think HeatherSue is playing favorites.:snooty:

No kidding I am starting to think instead of multi quoting this whole thing I should have just done seperate ones to cheat.:lmao:

I used to buy just a yard. Now I usually get 1.5 to 2 yards. And I have learned BUY it when you see it. When you go back it will not be there!

Don't know yet how I feel about the Minnie but she absolutely loves them both so I guess that's all that matters! And YES!, she thinks she is a model!:rotfl:

What a great job! Your DD is a cutie even when she is grumpy! :thumbsup2

Just curious how many of you are going to be at The World in May? Teresa and I (and our big 'ol family) will be there from May 3-May 17. We're staying off-site and I'm not sure which days we'll actually be at the parks yet.
I am not going then but....are you a Tour Guide Miker??? I would highly suggest joining if not....worth every penny!

We had an issue at Animal Kingdom with Pocohantas(sp?) Then she took a picture with her and off course we get the pictures back(pre-digital) and she has a snide, snooty look on her face! Luckily you don't run across this very often, it definitely takes away some of the magic!!!!
This is the problem with dealing with college kids (who play the roles)...they can be unpredictable or maybe she was pms'ing...:rotfl2: Sorry you had a bad encounter. I hope your DD didnt notice much. We had the opposite experience...the Pocohantas spoke so sweetly and spent a lot of time talking with my girls. I guess it is hit or miss sometimes.

Iam going to make the peasant top from ycmt and was wondering if any one had made this and if so do you have any advice before I get started? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Well, I am off to bed, tomorrow my sweet baby will be ONE YEAR OLD! I'm sad that my babies are growing up!:sad1:
GOOD NIGHT ALL!
:bday: party: :jumping1: :rainbow: Happy 1st Birthday Little One!!

Hi everyone... I just wanted you all to know that Ireland's had an accident. She needs a little pixie dust sent her way.:
So sorry to hear this terrible news. I'm sending you, Ireland and your family prayers. I remember doing the same thing when I was little. My parents were due to come back from vacation and I was showing off how I could ride my bike down the middle of the street really fast. Well, I lost concentration and balance and knocked my silly little head on the pavement :headache: It was the first of sevaral concussions and crashes I have made. :sad2:

Here's a picture of the Christmas stripwork jumper that I made dd. This is the third thing that I ever sewn...and I know it is not perfect, especially the gathers but I don't think I can take it apart anymore..the fabric are already fraying!!

Wow it looks just wonderful!!!! I dont see anything wrong with the ruffles and I love all of the prints together! :dance3: Great job:thumbsup2

Since I'm making one of these for Christmas, I'm glad to know that they run small! Yours is fantastic! Great job and I can't see any imperfections!

Ah, yes, this is just lovely! Are there any toys out there that our kids want that haven't been recalled? We've got the aquadots, are they taking them back so you can get your money back or are we to just throw them away (either way they won't play with them again but I'd like to get my money back). Maybe all of the outsourcing of our factory jobs to China isn't such a good idea after all! Lead poisoning, GhB, etc. Great for kids development!

:lmao: :lmao: :rotfl2:

pixiedust: I'm so sorry to hear this! I know we don't know each other, but we send her lots of well wishes for a speedy recovery...What a scary day, lots of :grouphug: going your way...

THANKS!

Okay, so I got a ruffler foot, (actually taking it back today because I got the wrong one..grrrr). I've used the baste and pull thread to gather method before which STINKS:scared: and was looking forward to ruffling with this before I attached it....can I do that?

Two years ago I found some lime green grinch fabric that I made the girls some little sundresses out of...I may have some left but it wouldn't me much, couple of strips and an applique...MAYBE. IF I can find it, I'd be happy to send it your way...it's definitely NOT Christmas fabric.

OMG we have like a ton of these!!! My girls just love this toy, we've made probably twenty things out of them....Thank you for posting this...now they have to go in the trash. :sad1: I'm pretty sure my girls wouldn't ever put them in their mouths, but I can't take that chance...and what if Baddog Bob gets them in his mouth, he's constantly cruisin' the floor for leftovers. Not that my floor is EVER that dirty mind you.... :rolleyes1

Hubby is coming back in town today, leaving again Sunday morning....I feel pretty certain I won't be here alot till after he leaves...(like you'll be waiting or something...ha.) He's got a couple of crazy weeks so when he is home we'll be spending a lot of time together. I don't think cruisin' the boards is technically "quality time".:rotfl: But, my scrapbooks are finished! Can I get a :woohoo: :woohoo: and I CAN'T WAIT to get started on my sewing again! Finally!!!

Yeah, I love the idea of my Oscar drunk! Definitely not using these again!

If I sound totally out of the loop here, but I just recently stumbled upon this thread and would love to learn how to do all of this spectacular stuff.
But first off, how do you decide which outfits to where....where? I mean, do you just browse the photos on here and decide what patterns you like and then find fabric that would go with it, or are there certain prints you decide for the kiddos to where at each park/character meal etc. ahead of time, due to your ADR's iteneraries??????? The photos(which really is my real passion-scrapbooking/photos etc.) look soooooooooooo awesome when everyone wears coordinating outfits, and I saw in one photo the Dads/Grandpas also blend nicely by just wearing the same color scheme! I am soooo impressed.
We are doing in Dec. and it is my 10th trip (I think) but first expanded- extended family trip. I want us to ROCK like you guys!   Look I even did three of these guys, I can fit in here if you help. :thumbsup2 :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

I think you just have to decide what you like as far as the patterns go. The fabrics I think everyone chooses somewhat based on where they will be wearing it and what ADR's you have. Lots of people using the animal print with the Minnie dot for Animal Kingdom. My girls had Minnie dot outfits that were worn in the Magic Kingdom. For our next trip we have ADR's at the Crystal Palace so I'm making dresses out of Pooh fabric for there. People will do Nemo fabrics for Coral Reef and Epcot. Also for Epcot are the kids around the world fabrics. MGM (or whatever the are calling it now) seems to be when the Playhouse Disney character outfits are worn like JoJo, Little Einstein, Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. As far as ADR's I've seen princess outfits/fabrics for CRT and Askershus, Lilo and Stitch Hawaiian prints for Ohana, cowboy/western fabrics for Hoop Dee Doo Revue, etc. I really think your kids can wear whatever they want though. The Minnie Dot outfits and the princess or other character outfits can really be worn in any park, it's up to you. The customs seem to get a lot of attention too from others! Welcome to the thread and take a look at the first page with the photo links on them to help you out!

Love both of the outfits but Donald is my favorite. You don't see us doing too much with him so it's nice to see something different! Great Job!!!

Thanks for the compliments on the Peter Pan skirt. When we were there we were stopped by lots of CMs who loved it.

The fabric is vintage, I posted it on here way way back in the thread.
It is curtains I found at a thrift store and I bought all of them because I loved the print. It may have been bedsheets at one time, the curtains were obviously handmade.
I currently have two of the panels listed you-know-where.

I ususally get 3 - 4 yards. I f I kno it will be a trim fabric I get 1 1/2 - 2 yards
