I totally need chip and dale fabric for our next campfire!!! as usual Lori your DD and your creation are beautiful!
...t.

WooHoo! Mostly finished with Chip and Dale dress. I have some acorn buttons I need to figure out what I want to do with.
chipndale1.jpg

love the chip and dale! Great job, from one lori to another!

I think you are referring to the elastic thread above??? If so it is NOT on a regular spool like thread. It is kind of long cardboard spool and in with the notions at my JA. The employees of JA had trouble locating the first time I went looking for it...shocking I know!!!:lmao:

As for the machine trouble I had that problem while making Halloween costumes and it was some thread that had gotten stuck down under the plate. I had to take the plate off and get some knotted thread out. HTH

Wow what a big help you've been  !!! Thanks so much. I will have to look for the thread....duh...I was looking in the "thread on a spool" rack.

Next, I took the plate off and you shoulda seen the dust bunnies under there  I have a little cleaning brush so I cleaned it up, filled my bobbin with thread and put it all back together and whaaaa laaaaaaa    it's working perfectly now! It wanted some TLC after sewing the skirt I guess :rolleyes1
Thanks again!!!!

I found my elastic thread at Joanns right in with the regular thread. I think it was by some metallic thread or something. It is Gutermann brand.

Thanks I will have to take a closer look. :goodvibes I think the key to fabric stores is NOT to take your 9 yo, 4 yo and 3 yo with you!! :rotfl2:

Ok - here it is! I LOVE how this turned out! I think I may have to make one for Emma too! I wanted to make bows in matching colors - but I didn't have the right shades - so these will do for pics!
th_CopyofDSC_1697.jpg

Oh, I love the colors and fabrics in this! Great job!

Very cool! I keep thinking I really *should* make myself something for Disney, but then I keep buying more and more fabric for the kids!

Here's my latest twirl skirt. I was very excited to find a shirt at Target that matches the pink perfectly. Got 2 of these done today. The ruffler foot and I are slowly becoming friends.

th_disboutique090.jpg

So cute! I'm glad you're making friends with the ruffler! I think once I figured mine out, we became BFF!

ok, I have been wanting to do this design for a while and finally decided to do it! Whew, JoJo likes it. I call it Rock Star Mickey!
th_IMG_3454.jpg

want to get some better pics in it, but this will do for now!

Oh my goodness! I LOVE rock star mickey! So cool! Love the bling layer! Love her pose, too!

I finally got DD to want to "model" my Minnie set that I made.

th_HollyJollyMinnie044.jpg

Gorgeous, as usual - love the mix-n-match!

This is really cute! Love the batty ribbon! It looks like she loves it!

This is one of the skirts i made the other day. Its not Disney but I am going to make one with some of my Disney Fabrics this week for DD.

th_DSCN2458.jpg

So cute! Love how she's posing with the umbrella!

Here is something for all the boys out there!

th_104_3305.jpg

Oh, I love this turkey! I may have to CASE for DS! I love how you left the edges to fray!

OK, now back to catch up some more!

LOVE this - pink and brown is one of my favorite color combinations! Your DD is sooo cute, too!

So pretty! I think some bling would be perfect on the shirt! Of course, I am of the theory that one can never have too much bling!

Thanks everyone for the comments on DD and her dress! It always makes my day to post here and then see all the nice things you guys have to say! :flower3:

You know this is starting to bum me out... I was planning on making that peasant top for little's christmas dress. :confused3 has anyone NOT had problems making it??

Thanks Lisa. Man I wish I'd written down that other site when I found it.

...t.

I made it for my DD1 and it worked perfectly. Maybe its the bigger sizes that are a problem?:confused3 I don't know, but I need to make dd4 one and now I'm afraid to do it!:scared1:

I made the peasant top from YCMT for both of my girls at Halloween. I did think the pattern ran small in length and in arm length for both of my girls. My girls are tall but I did go up a size for each of them. For Thanksgiving I am going to just increase the length for the body part and arm length. As far as printing, I had to actually mark the box on the print menu that the directions say not to have marked (I have not idea why but I couldn't get it to print correctly otherwise). I finally figured this out after a couple of times printing the pages w/ the cut-out parts on it and comparing it to how it showed up on my monitor with what came out of the printer (I know this isn't probably making any sense but PM me if you have any questions when you go to do it and I'll try and help!). When I left the box unchecked it came out differently that how it showed it was supposed to. So check that box (I think it says shrink oversized pages to paper size). Like I said before my other suggestions is to follow the directions on this pattern (for some reason I didn't do this :confused3 ). TAPE the pieces of paper together then cut it out.

Someone earlier said that the arm pieces were wrong but mine were fine. I did find it confusing b/c it looks like the arm isn't going to attach right but the top part of the arms actually becomes part of the neckline and it works out right for me. Good luck!

Somewhere I lost my quote with my other multi-quote but I loved the Chip and Dale dress! Very original! Did you attach the skirt part to a pair of cut-off overalls? Where did you find that fabric too? Hand't seen it and it's adorable. Great Job!

Here are some of the fabrics for her outfits and skirt. the Ariel Fleece one is for her neck travel pillow and travel blanket for the car ride down to Disneyland for Thanksgiving.

Do you use a pattern for the travel pillow? Do you stuff it with batting or buy a pillow form?

Okay, I've been sewing like crazy this weekend :) I finished DD10s Christmas outfit, made my first ever peasant top (yay, shirring rocks, thanks for teaching me!) And this outfit for DD2:

This is the portrait peasant dress from YCMT. You are right Heather, it was easy. I also used this pattern to make my other peasant top and just made the bodice longer (and I still need to add a ruffle on the bottom.) I was too scared to try the wonky YCMT peasant top pattern. Anyone looking to buy, I would recommend the portrait peasant dress pattern. You get the dress pattern, the rumba dress pattern, and you can easily convert it to just a top.

DSCN2914.jpg

And here is my first ever stripwork jumper! It was also pretty easy but don't look too closely at the ruffle on the bodice. Let's just say I learned and my next one will be better!

DSCN2917.jpg
Love this! Does the pattern for the dress come in larger sizes (12-14)?

Bummer! I bought this pattern - but haven't used it yet. Has anyone contacted them yet? I think the designer should fix the pattern - I have a hard enough time following a pattern that works.

I haven't contacted the designer, but I did fix it myself. All I did was use a ruler to make the lines connect they way they were supposed to, and measured the line on the bodice sleeve seam, so I could make it the same on the sleeve...that was one of the missing parts. If you'd like, I can take a picture of it and post it here, or email it to you. Once I did all that it went together easy. But truth be told...I liked the peasant top pattern in TeresaJoy's links better.

Thanks again!!!!

Whenever my machine starts acting odd, making weird noises or not stitching right, I usually find one of 3 things helps fix it:

1) Rethread the machine - bobbin and needle thread.
2) Change the needle.
3) Clean the machine where I can get to it and oil as directed by the owner's manual.

Mine actually was on a spool--one of the longer thinner Gutermann spools.

I used their portrait peasant dress pattern and had no problems.

Pardon the crazy faces she's making - we had ice cream after dinner and she's been bouncing off the walls ever since! I'm considering myself lucky that she paused long enough for a couple of pics!

Now I've gotta go catch up on all the new posts!

Love the fabric. It looks so cute on your DD!

Love this! Does the pattern for the dress come in larger sizes (12-14)?

It goes up to size 8, but I just sort of enlarged it to make a peasant top for DD10 who wears a size 12. I made one out of scrap fabric and it turned out all right, just a few more minor adjustments and It'll be good.

Catching up on my reading...:surfweb:

She's a cutie pie!!:cutie: Love this fabric!!! It looks almost denum(sp?) like, very thick & high quality fabric! Where did you get it? Great job!

I've been recovering from a bug all week & became a temporary single parent while DH went hunting for 4 days.:sad2: I'm anxious to get back to some sewing, but don't think I'll have time to get to make Thanksgiving outifts. My sewing fingers are all itchy to get to work after getting inspired by y'all!:thumbsup2

Thanks so much!! It was actually an overalls dress that I cut the skirt part off of. The fabric is from our favorite auction site - it's actually imported from Japan and is a heavy twill/denim. It was kinda $$, but I loved it. It took me forever to get up the courage to cut it!

I think she'll wear the dress when we eat at Whispering Canyon and then to the campfire at Fort Wilderness.

Glorib- Love the Chip n Dale dress. I'm sure those 2 characters will go crazy when they see your DD in it.

I had to tackle a mountain of laundry today (no injuries occurred) so I didn't get much sewing done, just a couple of appliques for my DS.

This is for him to wear to Cinderella's Royal Table. The girls are wearing the Princess toile dresses with the bling carriage so I wanted something a little more *sophisticated* for him.

And this one is to wear at Epcot and dinner at Coral Reef.

Hope everyone had a great weekend! Only 1 month until we leave :woohoo: .

Trying to limit my big multi quotes, I think it locks up my computer (not to mention my brain!)
As well as knitting up a shawl for dd for her dress to wear for the father daughter dance her school is doing. Its so very exciting. I really amd tempted to sneak in and take a few pictures. hehehe I was going to make her dress, but she found one that she HAD TO HAVE at Wal Mart. and for $17 it actually saved me money. Its very pretty. I guess we cant make everything for the kids...can we?? At least I still have some part of making it special for her.
I wanted to make matching Father Daughter Dance outfits for my girls last year, but Arminda and Lydia found dresses they LOVED at Meijer, and since they were on clearance........ well, I gave in and bought them instead! I was a little disapointed though! The first year, they both went, I made them matching outfits. I will find my picture and contribute my own shameless post here in a minute!

Wow! Everything posted lately has been Fantastic! You all amaze me every day with your talents!

I finally got DD to want to "model" my Minnie set that I made.

;)
I thought this was gorgeous before, but ON it's truly stunning! Love those shoes too!
I love these little cheerleader pictures!!! :cheer2:

I haven't posted here since the summer when I made a couple ribbon shirts using iron on material. I actually tried to sew a Halloween ribbon shirt for my niece. I think I'll probably stick with using the iron on stuff. I really want to learn to sew like you all, but I don't have anyone to teach me!! I'm just struggling through it myself and it's so hard. Anyways, here's the shirt I made...
100_3560.jpg
I remember YOU!!! I'm glad you are posting again! I think the shirt looks great! This is a FANTASTIC bunch of ladies and guy, if you have any questions or problems, there is always someone to help you out. (Although, occaisionally, you may have to ask twice, since the board moves pretty fast, sometimes we miss the question the first time!)

Of course this could do for a girl too! I made it like the jeans where the edges will fray for a more boyish rugged look. Not sure if I'll do jeans with it or not, DS4 loves it so that is all that matters!

That is cute jessica!!!

I LOVE your applique - how do you get the circles so smooth with the thread? It just looks absolutely great!! So professonal - do you use a stabilizer underneath and then some wonder under with your pieces? Im trying to learn!! Thanks and GREAT job!!!
