cute what pattern do you use for the top?
Thanks! I used McCalls 5370 (stitch n save) for the top yolk and the rest was my own. Well - I have used some YCMT patterns for skirts - I just changed it around for the top.

Okay, I've been sewing like crazy this weekend :) I finished DD10s Christmas outfit, made my first ever peasant top (yay, shirring rocks, thanks for teaching me!) And this outfit for DD2:

This is the portrait peasant dress from YCMT. You are right Heather, it was easy. I also used this pattern to make my other peasant top and just made the bodice longer (and I still need to add a ruffle on the bottom.) I was too scared to try the wonky YCMT peasant top pattern. Anyone looking to buy, I would recommend the portrait peasant dress pattern. You get the dress pattern, the rumba dress pattern, and you can easily convert it to just a top.

And here is my first ever stripwork jumper! It was also pretty easy but don't look too closely at the ruffle on the bodice. Let's just say I learned and my next one will be better!

How CUTE - I may have to get this pattern!!! I can't wait to try shirring - I have the elastic thread here - I just haven't tried it yet. I LOVE the pink and brown jumper - the fabrics you used look fantastic together! GREAT JOB!

I love this too! I'm curious, when you do the ruffles on the jeans like this (with three layers) are the bottom of the ruffles sewn to the top of the next or are they individual (so they could "flap")? I am wanting to try some like this but I wasn't sure how they were done. TIA!
Thanks! Glad you found your answer.;)

Those outfits are sooooo adorable! The pics of the girls are really beautiful! We leave in 6 days.....wish we had those cute outfits and hair bows! :cutie:
Woohoo!Have a great time

Ok so I finished my dd's skirt for our Disneyland trip. I have a few other outfits to make so we will see how those go. haha I dont know how much I like the skirt. seems likle something is just missing... what do you think?

Very cute - what a pretty color! Hmmm - maybe you could add a bow to ribbon around the bottom?

Maybe some bling on the shirt? I am not really a "blingy" person (is blingy a word?) but we should all add more bling to our lives. We need a bling smilie!

you know that is a grand idea! Like a blingy (yes, I'd say its a word. haha) crown. I will have to go look this week!

I was thinking that. I have to look for some purple ribbon I wanted to use purple polkadots or something but I haven't found some that i like.

I'm trying to use the YCMT peasant top (dainty designs) and I can't get it figured out. I even had them resend me the link, because I thought I printed it wrong, and I still can't get my pattern pieces to line up correctly. 3 out of 4 on the front and back are ok, but the one that says "place on fold" is wrong...it doesnt fit at all. And the sleeves are totally wrong, I think I've lost part of the pattern in the printing process because I don't have lines on one side, and the spot that says how big it should be cuts off in mid word. I thought I had the printer set correctly, and the one inch square is the right size. If anyone here has made this and can help me figure it out, I'd really appreciate it!

Hi Tink...I didn't know you were in Daytona...LOL...anyway I had trouble with that pattern too. The part that is the bodice, isn't right. When you make it, the neckline is way too short, so when you put the pieces together and line up the underarm seams, the bodice is shorter than the sleeves on top. If this makes any sense. Cut the bodice part, longer on the area that goes near the neck and it should work. If this is your first time using that pattern, use junky fabric that you don't really love, or you might be sorry...I'm sorry that I couldn't explain it better. Sometime we should get together and sew...LOL
2 brains are better than 1

Bummer! I bought this pattern - but haven't used it yet. Has anyone contacted them yet? I think the designer should fix the pattern - I have a hard enough time following a pattern that works.

Kell, that is very pretty! I think a bling carriage on the shirt would be absolutely perfec!!!!!!! I've seen some pretty ones on here that others have done. I have some of that Princess Toile that I HAD to have, now I can't figure out a thing to do with it. I really like your skirt, very nice job! Oh yeah, I love her tattoo!!

OKAY...grrr:mad: I found the jolly christmas patterns on a website the other day (did I write it down....NO!) for $7.50 a yd. Now I can't find the same site and they are 9.50 everywhere else not to mention I can't seem to find another site w/ all 3 fabrics. Any of you ladies have a good source for Marcus Brothers fabrics? Hook a sister up!!

Thanks for all the compliments on the Halloween ribbon shirt! You all make a girl feel good! And the litte girl is my niece. We don't have kids yet, so I just spoil her. I really want to get better at sewing so I can make my future children awesome outfits like you all make!

Thanks Lisa...I have looked in our Joann's and both Walmarts to no avail. I may order it online??

But I have bigger problems....I just started my second twirl skirt (boy are they a blast :yay: to make!!!) and my feed dog is barkin...it actually is going "bang bang bang". I changed needles cause the last one broke when I tried sewing through too many layers of elastic and now I think I did something terrible to Mr. Reliable Feed-Dog......ohhhhhhhh the humanity of it :scared1:

Any suggestions????

I think you are referring to the elastic thread above??? If so it is NOT on a regular spool like thread. It is kind of long cardboard spool and in with the notions at my JA. The employees of JA had trouble locating the first time I went looking for it...shocking I know!!!:lmao:

As for the machine trouble I had that problem while making Halloween costumes and it was some thread that had gotten stuck down under the plate. I had to take the plate off and get some knotted thread out. HTH

SO cute!
I have the coordination of a drunk moose but I hope that my DD is able to find some graceful movements in her blood somewhere. I would love for her to dance, tumble or cheer in the future - she's a bit young for all of that still but maybe we'll try tumbling next fall.

You might want to check out a gymnastics studio, some will start them at 2 and when she turns 3 she can do dance, cheer or gymnastics! There is so much cute stuff to get little girls into!

I wonder the same thing. Has anyone heard anything from YCMT? I have that pattern, and I have only used it once for an order from a customer. I did have to tweak it a bit. When I just went on YCMT, I didn't see the pattern on the site. The only one I found was for the portrait one. Maybe they pulled the pattern?

You know this is starting to bum me out... I was planning on making that peasant top for little's christmas dress. :confused3 has anyone NOT had problems making it??

Thanks Lisa. Man I wish I'd written down that other site when I found it.

I made it for my DD1 and it worked perfectly. Maybe its the bigger sizes that are a problem?:confused3 I don't know, but I need to make dd4 one and now I'm afraid to do it!:scared1:

I have some left I am going to make a top for her to wear too with jeans. I hope I have enough to put a little on ruffle on the bottom of the legs of her jeans!!

yea I am going to look for some Princess like blingage.

Oh yeah dont you love the tattoo. haha she got some Mickey Tattoos from Radio Disney yesterday, she wont put it on until we go, and wont let me take that one off it has to come off by itself .She doesnt like to be touched (she is high functioning autistic) But she loves to do it herself. haha

Wow...I just LOVE the way this turned out!!! What pattern did you use for the dress, if I may ask!! All your stuff is just beautiful, just like your daughter.

Aww what a little cutie!!! She looks adorable and those outfits are wonderful!!!

Thanks Mindy!!! I needed some encouragement

Lisa!!! I found it:cool1: its www.fasionablefabrics.com Their MM prints are like 7.15-7.50 a yd.(for the most part) COOL. I remembered that when I was looking for it I was looking for the MM "forest" print and stumbled across them. so I went back and searched for Michael Miller christmas fabric and went through 13 pages till I saw the link  Sometimes I wonder how I ended up w/ a kid w/ an IQ of 135.:confused3

WooHoo! Mostly finished with Chip and Dale dress. I have some acorn buttons I need to figure out what I want to do with.

Pardon the crazy faces she's making - we had ice cream after dinner and she's been bouncing off the walls ever since! I'm considering myself lucky that she paused long enough for a couple of pics!

Now I've gotta go catch up on all the new posts!
