Ok, I know this is not Disney, but Morgan wants to go to Grinchmas (She thinks the grinch is nice ) this year. I can't find any Dr. Suess fabric. Has anyone seen any lately?

Here's a picture of the Christmas stripwork jumper that I made dd. The strap are just safety pinned for now...I haven't decided if I want to attempt button holes or just put sew on snaps on it... it is a size 5, and I thought it would be roomy on my dd, but it really isn't all that big. I think I should make a size 6 next time...anyone knows if the sizing runs slightly small.

This is the third thing that I ever sewn...and I know it is not perfect, especially the gathers but I don't think I can take it apart anymore..the fabric are already fraying!!

Hi everyone... I just wanted you all to know that Ireland's had an accident. She needs a little pixie dust sent her way. She will need my care for a while, so I'm not sure when I will be back online. We just arrived home from the hospital, and I have to tell you....it was absolutely heartbreaking. Hearing that your child has been in an accident is just about the worst thing... I'm tearing up now, just thinking about how terrified I was..I won't go into detail, but to make a story short, while my Mom was watching her, and I was at school, she took out her bike, and had a terrible fall. She wasn't wearing a helmet. We live at the top of a hill, on a few acres, so thankfully she fell in the driveway and not in the street, but she lost consciousness and didn't know where she was or who she was. My mother had to carry her into the house. She wound up with a broken thumb, split lip, huge road rash area on her cheek and chin, which is really swollen, huge lump on her head, a concussion, and fluid in her elbow, that is supposed to go away. So my little darling will be out of commission for a while. Take care all and say a little prayer for her, and I think Santa will be buying her elbow pads, knee pads and a helmet..and maybe put the training wheels back on...:sad2:

Lots and lots of prayers coming your way! I am so sorry and can only imagine how scary it must have been.

That being said, Dallas doesn't want his training wheels off and I don't want to ever see him fall, so for now I guess they'll be staying too!

ok, here two more I finished today. the lighting was horrible tonight! Really bad, but now she is super grumpy and in a bath thank goodness!

Um, Lori, are you a sewing machine? I log on each time and see 1 or 2 new outfits for JoJo! They are darling as always!

Are you all sick of this pattern, yet? One last hoodie. Jack is in love with Spiderman right now!
th_brothers5421.jpg

I LOVE this. DS would love it if I made him something like this. Was it hard? i have never done a zipper before either!

Okay, I finally got my Disneyland trip photos photobucketed.

Here are the kids outside of California Adventures. They turned the letter A's into candy corns. I appliqued DD10s Halloween Mickey head shirt, DS8 and DS5's Jack Skellington shirts, and DD2's Mickey head Halloween shirt and I made her patchwork twirl skirt. You have seen them all before! I couldn't find DD2's black shoes (until I cleaned the playroom yesterday  ) so she ended up wearing the utterly unmatching (to my dismay!) pink crocs.

Here are the kids at Ariel's Grotto for breakfast with the snotty Aurora

And the sweetest Ariel ever!

Here is my family with Peter and Wendy at Mickey's Halloween Treat. Peter and Wendy were playing tag with some cast members and no one even noticed them! Costumes were purchased before I took up sewing and this is the end of the night where hats have been shed and sweatshirts donned. (And DS8 is sick of photos and just wants a soft pretzel).

Oh that is so sad, what a scary thing for both of you! I hope that she makes a speedy recovery. We will be praying for her!

I love the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse one!!! My kids both love that show. BTW, using buttons isn't cheating, it's just being creative!!

I really love that fabric!! Did you get it at Joann's recently? We have a black schnauzer and she looks kind of like a scotty (with longer legs).

I bought it about two weeks ago. It was on the rack with the Juvenile apparel. I usually only buy what I need for a project but when I saw it I bought it all. They also had the scottie dog with the plaid that someone made an oufit out of.

When you are making some outfits for a future trip where your little ones might be a size bigger, are there specific measurements to use? My daughter is 18-24months now but will be either 2T or 3T on our next trip and was wondering what measurements to use. Thanks!

Part 2:

DD could not stop dancing in her princess outfit!

th_DSCN2782.jpg

We waited over an hour at Princess Fantasy Faire and I am SO glad that when we got to the front of the line Lily's beloved "Lella" was there!

th_DSCN2799.jpg

Last one, I promise! We were exiting Space Mountain (where there was no line :cool1: ) and found Mickey and Minnie off in a little corner by the bathroom. I looked over and Minnie was peeking under the hood of my stroller waking DD2! (She'd had a long nap and looooves Minnie so it was all good!) We were practically the only ones around except, oddly, a family that lives in our neighborhood at home. :confused3 Sorry, my red-eye fixit tool went a little whacky.

th_DSCN2815_edited-1.jpg

Thanks for playin'! Now I get to sew! My fabric just arrived today from Yummy Fabrics.com--so excited! (and it only took 3 days :confused3 !)

Wow! Cute outfit! I love all the pictures!

My sister is pregnant. They have been trying for almost a year and a half and finally after one IUI cycle - they are pregnant!:cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

She is due in May and now I have a baby to sew for. They are not finding out the gender. Which means I must find all gender neutral things for now. Here is my first project. Both sister and BIL are Irish so the flannel fabric seems appropriate.

Drama queen Lauren wanted her picture taken too.

Great idea! And love the drama queen photo!

Ok, more picture from me!! These are from Halloween night with their costumes.

Nana made the Mulan dress for Emily (before broken arm). And, I spent ALL night Halloween eve making Madison's witch costume!! Nana hasn't even seen pictures of the all-night witch costume yet!!!

You'll did a great job! I love that Mulan, you don't see her often!

This is the third thing that I ever sewn...and I know it is not perfect, especially the gathers but I don't think I can take it apart anymore..the fabric are already fraying!!

th_IMG_2268p.jpg

it's wonderful! I love the colors. If you don't mention the problems, no one will notice (A hard learned lesson...I was told by my sewing group). I bet your dd can't wait until Christmas to wear it!

This turned out really cute and only your 3rd thing you have sewn? Very impressive!!! One thing that people have done with the straps on those jumpers instad of buttons is make the straps double in length and then put a piece of elastic in it, they have kind of a scrunchie look. They are very cute.

LisaZoe once posted a size chart. I think it is in Teresa's bookmarks but I couuld be wrong.

I was going to look this up after I checked the DIS this morning, now I can just keep DISing!!!   My Grandma called last night. Of course my DD has this and was making a picture just yesterday. I am so over all of these recalls on toys. My grandma said that she refuses to buy any toys for the kids for Christmas this year. I am starting to feel like I agree with her! We have had some of the recalled toys already, but this is a down right deadly one!!!!! Especially with a one year old in the house.
Thanks for posting this.

Prayers and hugs to you and your family. What a scary experienced for both you and Ireland.

Many people have recommended Simplicity's Simply the Best Sewing Book and I bought it and read it cover to cover! It really is good!

This book is WONDERFUL! Highly recommend it.

What a scary year this is for those of us wanting/needing to buy toys this year. You really don't know what you are buying and if it might harm your child. :confused3 :confused3 :confused3

Hi everyone... I just wanted you all to know that Ireland's had an accident. She needs a little pixie dust sent her way.

pixiedust: I'm so sorry to hear this! I know we don't know each other, but we send her lots of well wishes for a speedy recovery...What a scary day, lots of :grouphug: going your way...

Welcome maggi!!!

THANKS!

A gathering foot is NOT the same thing as a ruffler foot. I believe the one that most of us use is the RUFFLER foot. I end up calling my a gathering foot most of the time, because that's what I use it for. HOWEVER, when you go to purchase, you need to ask for a gathering foot. I couldn't sew without mine! It's absolutley one of the best investments into this hobby that I've made!

Okay, so I got a ruffler foot, (actually taking it back today because I got the wrong one..grrrr). I've used the baste and pull thread to gather method before which STINKS:scared: and was looking forward to ruffling with this before I attached it....can I do that?

Ok, I know this is not Disney, but Morgan wants to go to Grinchmas (She thinks the grinch is nice ) this year. I can't find any Dr. Suess fabric. Has anyone seen any lately?

Two years ago I found some lime green grinch fabric that I made the girls some little sundresses out of...I may have some left but it wouldn't me much, couple of strips and an applique...MAYBE. IF I can find it, I'd be happy to send it your way...it's definitely NOT Christmas fabric.

OMG we have like a ton of these!!! My girls just love this toy, we've made probably twenty things out of them....Thank you for posting this...now they have to go in the trash. :sad1: I'm pretty sure my girls wouldn't ever put them in their mouths, but I can't take that chance...and what if Baddog Bob gets them in his mouth, he's constantly cruisin' the floor for leftovers. Not that my floor is EVER that dirty mind you.... :rolleyes1

Hubby is coming back in town today, leaving again Sunday morning....I feel pretty certain I won't be here alot till after he leaves...(like you'll be waiting or something...ha.) He's got a couple of crazy weeks so when he is home we'll be spending a lot of time together. I don't think cruisin' the boards is technically "quality time".:rotfl: But, my scrapbooks are finished! Can I get a :woohoo: :woohoo: and I CAN'T WAIT to get started on my sewing again! Finally!!!

Cute:cutie: Okay spill what is your secret ? Do you have a sewing fairy? because everytime i get on here you are posting 1 or 2 outfits. :goodvibes You Go Girl:banana:
Well just had a baby that took a few naps longer than usual and I have been concentrating on sewing. I have to get some boy outfits done now, so look out for those!

Wow, love the snow one...very, very cute. I have some of that fabric, might have to do something similar!

I love that fabirc. it seems to be out everywhere now. hope everyone got it while they could!

Another vote to be careful with sleeve length!! The short sleeves are usually ok around here, but the long sleeves are definitely too short. ALSO, the neckline is tricky. I've found the best way to do it is by shirring instead of making a casing for elastic. I've also used the binding method and it works ok, but I still prefer shirring. If you've not tried that yet, it is SUPER easy to do and much easier and faster than elastic.

:bday: Baby!!!!!!!

Well, I have never shirred (word?) before so this will be my first time! Thanks for all the advice, it will definitely come in handy! And thanks for the birthday wish!

Which do you think looks better on a Minnie shirt...

1) an appliqued bow in coordinating print like this...

OR
2) a real bow made with ribbon

I finally made a patchwork Minnie skirt for dd7, now I just need to do the shirt and I can't decide which one to do and wondered what the majority would do.
I did a real bow made with ribbon only because I can't applique! I think they both look great though!

I can't believe this! My daughter has been wanting these FOREVER! We actually went to buy some, but she changed her mind and saw something else she wanted! I am so thankful we didn't get these! My dd1 puts EVERYTHING in her mouth!:scared1:

I think it is great! It looks great for only your 3rd thing. my daughter wears a size 4 and I cut a size 5 pattern for her

Do you use a gathering foot or a ruffler foot?

Also for those of you with the ruffler foot, when you ruffle the tiers for a tiered twirl skirt what kind of settings do you use? I just can't seem to get the settings right and have my layers match up! TIA

For all those using a ruffler foot here is a little trick I've started doing. When you ruffler fabric that has been pieced together, such as in a patchwork twirl skirt, the seams seem to make the ruffler skip a little so it doesn't quite ruffle as well. After I ruffle the fabric with the foot, I go back and do 1 line of basting stitch, this way I can hand adjust the gathering where maybe the ruffler foot skipped due to all the seams. It has worked well for me and saved me some headach.

Hi everyone... I just wanted you all to know that Ireland's had an accident. :

Hope Ireland gets to feeling better. Thoughts and prayers to all of you.

This looks great. The gathers don't need to be perfect. No one is going to notice with all the twirling your DD will be doing in it. You're not a machine, things aren't going to be absolutely perfect, that's what makes it special and one of a kind.

These photos aren't the best, when I get a chance I will upload my photopass pics.

Here is DD in her Peter Pan skirt. I had intended to make an empire waist sundress but wound up doing just a simple skirt.
