Congratulations on the newest addition to your family! LOL!! Which doll did you get? (And what outfit?) You'll have fun making the matching sets - it's kinda addictive!

I bought a Just Like You doll with blond hair and blue eyes. The outfit had embroidered jeans and a hooded sweatshirt along with a pair of sneakers.
She is so pretty I wanted to play with her. Instead I hid her in a suitcase! I will probably get her out to show DH later today.

I just about finished the set! I still have to do her eyelashes, by hand. Wouldn't you know it I can't find a needle. I plan on giving this to my almost 2 yo. neice for Christmas. Is it ok or should I skip it and try Elmo? All I see are my mistakes and what I should have done.

Here is the image I used.

Please be honest, just not brutal!

Wow! I love it! Her Hair is AWESOME! Definately :worship: :worship: :worship: I love the pants too! THey are adorable. It is giving me an idea for a what to do with my Disboutique Fabric swap squares! I don't think I will have enough for a quilt.

Ok my pic finally downloaded! Here are my girls in the matching stripwork dresses I made them! This is also the pic I used for our christmas cards:

AWWw SO sweet. Great photo too!
Ladies knee highs!!!!!

Walmart sells 1 pair of ladies knee highs (in the little egg) for .39. 1 egg equals two pair of tights. Walmart usually has some really fun colors.

Remove 1 knee high and turn it inside out. Smooth out the wrinkles. The top (open part) becomes the waist. Make a small mark in the middle of the stocking about 5 inches from the top of the waist. (This will be the "crotch")

th_tights1.jpg

Fold the stocking in half long ways. Make a mark 1/2 inch from the middle on either side of the middle. These are the feet.

th_tights2.jpg

Starting at the toe stitch up the leg from one mark to the top mark. Stitch from the top mark down the other leg. Cut up the middle between the two stitch lines. (Be careful not to cut the stitches or cut too close to the stitches) You can serge the inside seam but it is not necessary. Trim as needed and turn rightside out. (You can also "shorten" the legs of the tights by sewing across the toes)

Once I had made a few pair of these, I moved on to using "trouser socks". They are a little more costly, but they tend to be "thicker" and a little more durable. They also have some neat patterns that look really cute as tights. Just remember to only use socks with no heel.

Wow Great Idea! Do you use just a regular stitch on the machine?

OMG!! How cute are they! Love the matching outfits too! :thumbsup2

Your daughters are gorgeous!! What cuties! Nice job on the outfits!

Awwwwwww your girls are adorable in their matchy matchy outfits.....sooooo cute :cutie: Great job!!!! I know its a lot of work to sew everything twice!!!! [/SIZE]

OMG those girls are so cute! The dresses are great but you could really put those babies in paper sacks and they would be adorable! You are going to have the best Christmas cards!

These turned out very cute! Your girls are just precious!

Thanks everyone for your sweet comments, on the girls and their dresses! And yes! it is a pain having to make things twice! HOwever it is much easier and faster to sew for a one year old! Her clothes are so small I can usually whip them together pretty quickly!:)

That's awesome! I'm going to have to try that.

Ok, multi quote didn't work right, but Abby Cadaby is just wonderful. She's going to love it.

Honestly you did an awesome job!!!!!:cool1: How did you do her hair....did you use different color thread or was the thread several colors itself???? I just love the whole thing!!!!

Thank you! I finished the doll dress last night and was trying it on when Megan came out of bed. She was crying because, get this, she missed the quarters she put in the salvation army bucket earlier and could I please call the lady and ask for them back! :rotfl2: I think she was too upset to notice what I was doing (I hope, anyway!). I'll post pictures when she is safely at school.

Oh Leslie! Where do I start?
1) Megan walked by when I was scrolling through and said, hey! Abby Cadabby, cute! So I wouldn't worry about it not being recognized!
2) Mistakes? It looks perfect! Did you use variegated thread for the hair? However you did it it looks spectacular! I hope you are proud!
Thanks everyone! I am happy with how the Abby Cadabby set turned out. (I still see the mistakes though) I used multicolored thread for her hair. My machine was not cooperating when I was doing her hair and was pulling alot of the pink bobbin thread up. :confused3

Steph - I hope Meagan gets her quarters back! When I got DD her AG doll(s) I would take them out of the box and try on their new outfits and fuss with their hair. I love her dolls almost as much as she does.

This is a GENIUS idea! Thanks so much for posting. It's gonna go in the bookmarks, right? Don't wanna lose this one.

We just got back from the Christmas party for the kids' choir. Megan is really cranky! I tried to get some pictures for Christmas cards before we left and this was the best one. I am thinking of chucking my perfectionist tendencies and use it just to get them done!

Just for you guys! I needed to try the jeans on DS to see if they will fit his cousin (they are just about the same size) Sooo, I snapped a picture - just for you. Poor kid!

The outfit is adorable! BTW, what does your hubby say about you taking pics of your son when he is trying this stuff on? A few weeks ago, I made one my DS friends a Minnie dot twirl skirt w/a long sleeve t-shirt that had her name appliqued on it. The outfit was a surprise late b'day present and I didn't know how big to make the waist. I asked my son to try it on and my hubby said "if he doesn't want to do it -- he doesn't have to".

So I have never appliqued before and thought it would be less pressure to do it on a tote bag so I decided to make a couple for some boys (friends of ours)for christmas. I started with a couple then I would look at it and decide it needed more so I kept adding and adding. Then I found a remnant of spiderman and decided they should be lined too. So I thought I would have them finished last night but I accidently sewed the wrong-side closed on one and now I have to ripe it out :headache: And I couldn't find the ripper at 2am.
