Awww, you should have told me. I have some Debbie Mum fabric leftover that I won't have time to do anything with. I have about a yard of the plaid plus two others that aren't pictured. Congrats about the job!

Sorry about your mom, sometimes they get it, sometimes they don't. My mom would probably try to barge into the operating room and give the doctor advice (no she is not a doctor or a nurse!). Hope everything goes well with the surgery and receovery.

Here is my vent: I am the secretary of our school's PTA and I do the newsletter. The president is always going behind me and redoing it after I send it the school for submission. I am getting fed up with it. I can't complain to my husband because he would ask, how much are they paying you again? He's so smart. :rolleyes1

I got the job!!:woohoo: They finally called me to come take a drug test which is the final process they don't know if the results will come back in time to start training on Mon. which is a bummer cause they only start training on the first day of a pay period. So if not I'll have to wait 2 more weeks:scared: I told them as long as they're not checking for chocolate we're solid.

:cool1: Congrats! Hubby just got a new job, too! We can celebrate together. :cool1:

*I'm with you on the 'I'm broke, but I REALLY want that fabric.' problem.*

ooohhhhhh Pretty!

I found PINK princess leia (a cartoon version) flannel at Joann's today. I was so excited. If I wouldn't have already known I was in trouble for buying the christmas fabric I would have bought it.:cutie:

I have some of that fabric. I made dd4 a blanket out of it last year. She loves it & I have to keep telling myself that 'No, she doesn't really need matching pjs.'

That's just what a man WOULD say. I would confront this person but in a nice way. Just mention that you notice that he/she usually has some corrections to make and if there is something that you overlooking or etc... I of course would be like " Hey, You wanna do it?" but I don't recommend that approach, it doesn't usually work for me.

Lily is now informing everyone in the house that she loves puppies.:rotfl:
She crackys me up!

JEEZ, if I'd realize you had that plaid I'da said something. It was a spur of the moment decision though. Thanks for the offer.

Steph is one of the fabrics green w/ red polkadots? I found it in Flannel only and if it comes in cotton I want it.

Glad someone can relate. I'm glad your DH found work too:banana: . This economy is CRAZY. I've had a job since I was 12 (off the books of course) I have always worked I can't believe it is so bad right now. I wish I could've stuck by my dad through the company's bankruptcy but I got kids to feed.

OOH, I hadn't thought about making her a blanket too:idea: I think I'm making both the kids christmas pj's this year(a yard of flannel and a plain Tee are cheaper than pj's!) I think i'll do yoda and princess leia. Mac wants a fleece blanket, a mickey one. I might make it too... though he might like starwars if I find it?? HMMM... definitely getting the princess leia flannel!!

I certainly can relate. DH lost his job in July so we've been pretty tight for a while now. It's still going to be tight, but I'm hoping I can find something to do for a little extra to fill in the gaps.

For the blanket, I just used a yard of the flannel & hemmed the non-selvedge sides. It's small, but so is she & she loves to use it for her naps. In fact, she stopped using the Hello Kitty one to use Leia. I couldn't believe it.

okay here is the picture with my new color and cut wendy lou (utahmama did ) my dd was taking the picture and in walked DH that is why i am looking a different way but it shows my hair and that is what you guys wanted to see..:goodvibes

Yoo Hoo, all you late nighter ladies:wave: ...
Ok, curious folk just gotta know...after you put the younglings to bed
& get cranking out these fabulous creations,
do you get to sleep in the next morning?:confused3
Does DH get the kids to school for you?:smooth:

I must say I'm just green with envy because ds(6)
get's the bus at 6:45 am. :faint: He goes to bed quick
at 8:30-9pm, but he's an early riser-often up before
the sun at 6:00 am or earlier. :sad2: It is impossible for
me to stay up late & create/work on anything-my brain
is a mush puddle at 8:00pm!!!:confused3 :rotfl2:

I was determined to get some sewing done last night
& drank coffee for dinner, to fight the exhaustion.:drinking1
Still didn't work-I cut up fabric all wrong & crooked. :sad2:
Then decided-I'll just cyber Christmas shop.:surfweb:
Just about snoozed out some where between "shopping cart" & price comparing!:ssst:
So I hit the hay & couldn't rest all night due to my
cup of joe surging & my brain trying to do financial calculations (shopping)!!!:scared1:

Here's to all the late night crew:thumbsup2 ,
I admire you much & one day-one day hope to be in the company!!!

Definitely applique Gingy & some sparkly glitter snowing around. I saw this fabric in the store & love it. It's soooo cute!!!!!

Ok, this just made me laugh! Probably because it sounds like something I would do - drink caffeine to stay awake, and then have to take Tylenol PM to go to sleep!

Where is a good (cheap) place to buy those Converse High Tops for kids?
I would like to get DD some but I would prefer if she tried them on first.

OOH! OOH! I wanna know too!

Here is the fabric I picked. I don't like it as well as the designer stuff I found online, but I'll get over it. I suppose I can't always get my way.

...t.

LOVE these fabrics! That skirt is gonna be beautiful!

Hi All,

Sorry I haven't been around much recently. I've been trying to get everything ready for the surgery, which will be on Wednesday.

My mother decided I don't need her help, so she's not coming to give me a hand, even though she lives only about 90 minutes away and has nothing better to do (I asked). I was really hurt, so I decided to give myself a few hours of "therapy" AKA sewing. This is what I ended up with.

DSCN0692.jpg

This is a detail of the front. It's highlighted with metallic thread which is not translating in the picture.
DSCN0693.jpg

It it MUCH prettier in real life, and not uneven, that's just the layout on the floor. It also needs a final ironing. I'll try to post pics tomorrow of DD wearing it, she's asleep now.

I also have an Ariel pink dress and a navy blue school dress in the works. I just wanted to get ontot he DIS, and showing this dress off is my excuse.

Thanks for being here.

Sorry your mom's not gonna be there for you - but on a good note - GREAT DRESS!

I really want to order some awesome fabrics at reprodepot. They are just sooooo pricey. Someone tell me i should just do it!!!

JUST DO IT!

Has anyone heard from Ms_McKenna? I know she posted last week (?) that her DS was having surgery. I'm just wondering if anyone has heard how things went, or if she's been around. I miss you, Ms_McKenna! Hope all is going well!

Wow, looks like you guys had a party last night while I was up late breaking sewing machines (well really only one machine, I only broke the needle in the other).

All the cuffs I have are the crocheted fun fur ones. The pattern is free in Teresa's links. I bought the pattern from YCMT. I don't know if they are exactly the same or not, but the cuffs look the same. I don't want to know because I hate the idea of paying good money for a free pattern! Here is a picture of my cuffs:
th_DSCN2948.jpg

Oh, you think you can just go without me do ya? As long as you are chartering that private jet, I think you could let me tag along :rotfl:

Okay, sounds just like me! If DH didn't keep me in line (get mad every time he pays the AMEX bill) I'd be outta control!

That is too funny! My DH "let me out" last night too! But I only had one hour because I had to fit it in between the time he got home (late) from work and the time he had to leave to play basketball with "the guys" (for over 3 hours no less).
what machine did you break? :scared1:
what i thought wendy was charting the private jet:confused3 i was just in charge of snacks , you are in charge of drinks:rotfl:
did he by any chance play basketball at the church? sounds like a church game they would be in there all night if they could.

Here's what I should have been working on last night when I was on here chit-chatting. I finished them this morning while Tessa and Sawyer played with Little People (thank you Fisher Price). I don't know what possessed me to make 4 of these things. They didn't turn out as I had hoped. I wanted the pettisirt part to show more. But, as with most YCMT patterns, there was math involved... I did make up the dimensions for the little skirts (for Build-A-Bears) all on my own. Tessa insisted that she wanted yellow bias tape on her skirt, but I really wish she would have wanted red. The red looks prettier!

th_11-29-074skirts.jpg

Here's a close-up so you can see they're not American flag skirts. :rotfl:
th_11-29-07skirtclose.jpg

Now, I have 2 long-sleeved white t-shirts that I want to applique something on to match these. Does anyone have any ideas? I want to use one (or both) of the fabrics from the skirt.
wow those are cute , Thanks now i have to have that material..;) i would say either a gingerbread Man, girl , house or a candy cane with the red and white stripe that might make it pop a lil more....(the skirt)
This is the teddy bear fabric I used for Lily's thanksgiving dress that she wouldnt' wear.. someday I'll get a picture of it. I found a coordinating print w/ tiny apples and flowers all over. Glad to see someone else liked it!

So, I bought christmas fabric today:rolleyes1 . B was  I needed a new SS card so I went to the office which is in the next town. They were closed. So I went to the super- Joanns that is there. Chistmas stuff was 50% off. Of course that was excluding Debbie Mum stuff which is what I got of course. But it was still 30% off.
When I started figuring out the yardage I needed a bit more than I thought originally and online I'd have to order by whole yards, so cheaper fabric that was on sale and being able to order partial yards made a huge difference. B said that she can wear a dress she has for christmas that she needs presents, but it's bought and can't be returned so now I'll just have to make the outfit.
I almost bought a fat quarter bundle to make a patchwork dress in the same style as the one Tom made...but still had my heart set on the layered skirt. I'm going to start cutting it out now...when I'm rushed everything goes wrong not to mention I need to get our christmas pictures out.

Love it good luck !

absolutely love it ! that is some cute stuff can't wait to see what you create:thumbsup2

Lily. You know I have gotten grief from everyone since day one over the spelling of her nickname. Cause her full name is Liliana and yet I have always spelled lily w/ a Y not an I even though I'm Tifani w/ an I not a Y. I have an I because my mom's name is Toni so logic would follow that I would spell it w/ an I to follow suit. But honestly I never gave it any thought. The plant is spelled Lily and that is just how I instinctively spelled it. Wierd.
Overthought and probably of NO interest to any of you so sorry for the ramble.
you know what i hear you on the name spelling thing i have a boy his name is spelled like this Khrystian pronounced like christian but he gets called a girl all the time Khrysti an :confused3 what??????????

Your dd is SO STINKIN CUTE :cutie: I hate when my Dh goes away for the whole weekend (for fun usually or hunting aka video games and poker weekends) then has a fit when I want to go out with the "girls" or anywhere for that matter for a couple hours!!! How fair is that!!!!

Thank you! Hancocks is over an hour away from here, so I'm thinking ebay :)
I went back tonight to pick up some for a fellow boutiquer - should I go back again??? How much do you want. It is 6.99 and they have a 40% off coupon good until saturday.

It always feels great getting a fresh dye job and hair cut. I haven't gotten into dyeing everything yet, just highlights to cover the grays- then I can't tell the blonde from the gray and it doesn't bother me, as much!! I'm only 27 people,is it normal to be gray already, Well I am even if it's not :confused3 It's gotta be having the kids that has "turned me gray" so young!! :rotfl2: Wait a minute I think my mom said she was in high school when she got gray hair :scared1: maybe it's hereditary? Ok now I'm just rambling- Sorry. Anyway love your "new" hair spongmommieof5 :cutie: Oh and great job UM!!

That will be easy to remember. My Lily is just Lily. I spelled it like the flower also.

Love it!

I'm making DS a fleece star wars blanket. I found the fleece at Wal-Mart. It is the black with the green Yoda print. It even matches the flannel pjs I made him! Good thing I didn't see that Princess Leia flannel when I was at Joanns tonight. I spent too much as it was.

I broke my cheapo one in some sort of ruffler foot accident. There is a round metal plate under the bobbin case that sort of rotates when the needle goes up and down. It has holes in it so when the needle goes down it goes through the hole. Somehow it is out of synch and instead of going through the hole in the plate, my needle hits metal now. I'm pretty handy in the fix-it department, but no idea what to do with this one! At least I have my mom's never-die 50-year-old machine! But no zig-zag stitch :sad2: And yes, DH was playing b-ball at the church. My neighbor who plays with him was telling me all about it today and who got injured and who is limping the worst. I told him that is what happens when a bunch of old men play basketball! ANd on the name pronunciation thing, my name is Jeanne, pronounced like Genie but no one ever says it right. I usually get "Gee ann" which I hate, but I don't really like my name in the first place so hey, just call me Jammy like Wendy does :rotfl: I'm stocking up on the Diet Pepsi now for our chartered flight to Michigan! Hope Wendy knows she's supposed to charter the jet! Why not just get John Travolta to fly us out?

Okay, so has anyone seen the giant Disney appliques they now have at Joann's? I saw them today for the first time. They are that Fab-liques brand. They usually just have like the big fuzzy ducks and other baby-type appliques. I just scanned in the Cinderella I bought. It took everything I had not to buy Ariel too! This scan will give you an idea of the size (perfect for the leg of a pair of jeans) as you can see my 8 1/2"x11" scanner window cut a little off the right side. She measures about 9" tall and 8" wide. They also had Lightening McQueen, Mater, the police car from Cars :confused3 a cute furry Eeyore, Mickey, Nemo, and Tigger. They would be cute on the back of a jean jacket. I have no idea what I'll do with it. The downside is it cost $7.99 :scared1: :scared1: :scared1:

So I'm back in the mid-October posts and everyone shared their wedding photos. I loved seeing everyone! Just beautiful :) I know I'm late, but I'd like to share mine, if you don't mind. I had to do the photo of a photo thing so there is some flash glare that will have to be ignored.

My mom sewed my dress and all the bridesmaid dresses and the flower girl dress. I'm having trouble with the group photo so I'll try that again soon in natural light. But you can see me and the hubby.

We were married at the Disneyland Hotel. My colors were black, white and red and the guys all wore Mickey Mouse cumberbunds and a vest for the Best Man. Our cake topper was a crystal Cinderella Castle on the top tier and her coach and horses on the lower tier. Also, our centerpieces on all the tables were the Mickey and Minnie bride and groom ear hats. Our guests fought over who would get to take them home! We made sure our mothers got one of each for us and we have a nice display of all our wedding stuff in a cabinet. Oh, our toasting glasses had Mickey/Minnie for the stem.

To keep it even more Disney, I walked down the aisle to "Once Upon a Dream" from Sleeping Beauty. Sorry to go on, I just love talking about the day I married the most wonderful man in the world.

Okay, onto the pictures. The date is July 27, 1996, I was 22 and dh was 21.

Well, since I stink at applique, especially detailed applique, that would be money well spent.

The back of a Jean jacket! or hoodie? I still have my little NEMO one :rolleyes1 I really need to do something with him.
