I really need to go back and read thet pages I have missed.... There are some cute outfits being posted here!!

Yeah! I finished the Buzz outfit!!! Lydia loves it!!! Me too actually!! I even finished the top! I decided to go with a paesant blouse with spiral sleeves. I need to put the ric rac on the top yet, but other than that, I'm done! YIPPEEE!!!

Lydia was in "model mode" so she was doing some goofy silly 4 year old faces! And, she insisted that that leaopard print material "headband' really went with the outfit!!!

Ok, here are way too many pictures for yah!!! We tried to take some pictures where you could see the ric rac glowing in the dark, but we haven't figure out how to do that yet! Just believe me when I say it looked really cool!

I really hope that I didn't come off as if I was calling you ladies (and Tom) materialistic. I was completely talking about my own totally selfish, big baby, have to have my own way and exactly what I want when I want it self!

Does anybody else have this problem?? while you sleep you are tossing and turning because your brain is thinking of all the sewing projects you need to do and or new ideas for stuff to do (not that you don't already have enough) your sewing machine is calling you , calling you first thing in the morning and is telling you to neglect your house and or your kiddos,studying ect. and get on and start.... or is this just happening to me ... i think we need a support group!!! everyone have a great day

This is prexactly (to steal a term from UtahMama) why DH and I decided that this year for Christmas, our kids do not need a bunch of more toys. We have convinced them to ask Santa for one large family gift. Hmmmmm, what will he bring us? Possibly a family vacation with memories to last a lifetime? When I look back on my childhood I have very few memories of "things" I got and many wonderful memories of vacations and time spent with my family. Our only other trip to Disneyworld was when DS was nearly 2 and DD was 3. It was the best vacation ever and DD swears she remembers certain things.

Same here, we're going Dec 1-8 and they all understand that Christmas will be slim pickens this year!

I this!!!! Be prepared to be CASEd!!!! I've been eyeballing that fabric forever, but wasn't sure what to do. Do y'all think it will work for Thanksgiving?

Oh, you should do it! It really wasn't hard at all! I used a rolled hem foot, which made the hemming really easy too!

I may have to ship one to you (or Heather) and have you hem it for me. It's been staring at me for a week waiting to be hemmed!!! My mom keeps telling me that it's not that complicated, when I really want to hear "just give me the *(&%^ thing and let me do it!!"

1. Thanks! I was on a mission to use up some of the fabric I allready had! Lydia told me that would look good together, I wasn't convinced until after I started sewing it together!
b. I took the leftover cirlce piece from when I cut the main spirals, and then I made a little pattern that followed the outside curve of that and measured in about 2 inches. So, the pattern looked like a banana. Then, I sewed them together, just like the skirt, and cut the sleeve out of it.
III. (boy, you are tricky with your numbering today!!!) When I posted that picture I thought to myself, "Deann is going to say something about that chain!" I knew Heather would be asleep, so it would be you! That is Brian's boat trailer that you see there!
4. I have to agree actually!!! I LOOOOVE to see pictures!!! Lots and lots of pictures!

Do you have a rolled hem foot? That really made the hem easier! Mine isnt' perfect, but it will do! You just stick the edge of the fabric in there, and it hems it up all nice and neat!! I practiced on a scrap a few times before I got the skirt out. But, I figured the skirt is so full no one is going to notice that the hem isn't perfect!!! I watched one of the videos on the rolled hem foot that is in the bookmarks. This thing ranks right up there with the ruffler for all time great sewing inventions!

Arminda woke up a bit ago and told me she threw up. UGGH! They are having MEAP testing, and I hate for her to miss that. It's hard to tell if she really threw up or if it was just a little spit up, yah know? She hasn't been looking good all day though. And, she started crying hysterically earlier when I told her she couldn't go to Mackinaw City for an overnight field trip with her class, since we will be at DISNEY WORLD!!! She actually said, and I quote, "But, we go to Disney World EVERY year, I've NEVER been to Mackinaw Island!" And then, lots of incosolable hysterical pitiful heartbroken crying insued. I actually felt BAD that I was making her go to Disney World!! She was so excited when she came home, telling me they got some great news at school, then I saw the dates on the note she brought home, and my heart just dropped. I wish they had checked with the parents before telling the kids about all the exciting things they were going to do!!! I feel awful. But, when I mentioned to her that she would be with her cousin Sawyer, (and I went on to list the rest of my entire family) she did perk up quite a bit!!!! What a day, what a day! I have now promised her a trip to Mackinaw Island sometime in the next year!!! MMMMM FUDGE!!!

No, I don't have a rolled hem foot. I looked at one at Hancocks the other day, but didn't think it would work on my machine. I'll have to reconsider that!

I hope Arminda feels better today and doesn't have to miss her testing. I know what you mean about missing the field trip. My girls were bummed when they found out we'd miss our town's Christmas parade. But the perked up when I told them we could be on national tv with the WDW Christmas parade!!

I'm outta here for the day, dd16 and I are going to see The Crucible at the theater!! I'm excited, we love plays! So, for the rest of you "just keep sewing, just keep sewing..."

Ok, first of all:

1) I do not understand the directions for the sleeves at all. And I really want to, because they are so cute. Can you take a picture of the "banana" pattern you used please?

2) I do not know if I have a rolled hem foot. Do they usually come with the machine or did you buy one? I was thinking if I ever attempted that pattern I would add a ruffle or use bias tape for the hem. Your hem looks really cute!

3) I hope Arminda feels better! Give her a hug from all the DIS friends!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE this. The green is great with the pumpkins, and the gold trim really sets it off. Way to go!

Ignore the crazy hair....she has some wild hair and was having too much fun twirling around for me to fix it. We have a great pumpkin patch here with a petting zoo and hayrides. We are headed there tomorrow I think. The weather is supposed to be about 85, but if they are wrong I can always put a shirt under this. This was my first adventure making a button hole and making something that buttons It wasnt too bad, but I had a hard time figuring out how big to make the holes so the buttons would fit through. That was a challenge and I am sure there is some handy trick to that I am just not aware of.

what was the title of the sewing book that was talked about quite a bit here? something like everything you need to know about sewing, idiots guide to sewing??? i dont' remember the title at all. But I think I desperately need this book. People talk about what foot to use and I have no clue what it looks like or how to use it. I had my sewing machine for 10 + yrs and just this weekend used one of the other feet besides the normal one. I think I am too to try different things. But I want to do things right.

I didn't take it that way at all. I took it as more of we don't appreciate what we do have and the fun times that we do get to have with our kids. At Christmas and Birthdays the kids are totally bombarded with presents and it just seems as though they don't really appreciate what they do have. We have been having this discussion ALOT around here lately. I don't think you came across wrong!

Glad to see that you are back.
I live in an area where the majority of the kids get everything that there little hearts could want whenever they want. We are very blessed in all that we have, but I purposely do not let my kids get everything they want when they want it so that they can learn the value of things and the patience in waiting for something that you truly desire. I believe that when we wait for things and earn them they are so much more precious to us. We are all different in what we can materially give to our families, but hugs, kisses and kind words don't cost a thing and I think that is what kids, and adults too, today need the most of.

It would break your heart to see all those little children in those RUssian orphanages...I know, here I go again about the orphanages...but you just can't imagine it unless you see it...10 baby orphanages in one region - and 400 orphans in one orphanage...all you see is cribs lined up what seems like forever...and these little blank faces...no soap, no diapers, no milk, no bottles, no pacifiers, no baby food...just some type of gruel and sweet tea 3 times a day...and mix matched girl/boy outfits that were donated or left by someone. How blessed we are to have our sweet boy Nicholas Alexi---would you believe that he told his parents the other day that when he was a baby his name was Alosha? He was 13 months when he came here and Alosha is a nickname for Alexi which was his given name. You should have seen us trying to put a diaper on him...he went wild! and he just picked up the food we gave him and laughed..he didn't know what it was...by Russian standards, he lives like a king now...how blessed we all are... Ok I finally got up the nerve to get on the sewing machine and learn! Here is a picture of my first skirt! Yay! I practiced on this one with fabric that was $1. I know it's simple and not Disney, but I just can't believe it turned out ok to wear!

I also picked up more fabric last nite. I think I'm going to make twirl skirts and overalls. I am working on appliques, but haven't figured it out yet. Any tips?

I am so thrilled.

Yesterday we went on a field trip with our home school association to Hill Ridge Farm. I had my girls wear the candy corn outfits I made. It was so neat that people kept commenting on the outfits. I have never really had people coming up to me like that before.

My sig has a pic from the farm. My poor ds had an allergy attack so was not feeling well. I gave him his allergy meds, but that turned him into a zombie.
