Yeah, well last summer we surprised DS w/ a trip to WDW for starwars weekends and we didn't tell him where we were going or anything and as we pulled into WDW w/ all the characters and everything he said "oh, this is where we're going..." He spent most of the time at MGM whining about going back to the coronado springs pool!!!I thought then that he has been spoiled and maybe oughtn't get to go 3 times a year. But then, staying home would just be punishment for me now wouldn't it. It has been a year since our last trip though and I think he is starting to miss our Dis-adventures. Maybe next year if we are able to go back to seasonal passes he will be more appreciative. Yeah, my daughter is 2 and on her 4th trip (counting in utero) and I know most kids don't get to go 4 times in their life, so yeah...shutting up and being thankful. It's still hard, cause we had a dis schedule and DS had made a plan to go through tour guide mikes list of when and where to meet characters for his autograph book (he's 9 I don't know how much longer I can keep him interested in that!!)
But I was really missing out on planning all these cute outfits. Now I just need to get back to the sewing machine...that's my plan for Friday.

Yep that's grams she will be 89 in december and she is still working- She works for a costume company, and she sews & knits for all us grandkids & great grandkids in her "spare time"

Little OT -
Disneymommieof2 if you don't mind me asking, where are you in Minnesota? I'm from MN too, don't see too many of us on the boards :thumbsup2

Okay,
I can't stand it anymore!!! MYTWOTINKS post about how materialistic we all are broke me.. Of course I've been sneaking onto the dis anyway:rolleyes1 Some situations have thrown some financial kinks into our WDW trip:mad:My DH has a tendency to make everything a worst case scenario and it's my job as mother and wife to keep everyone's spirits up. Well, looking at all the fabulous outfits my daughter would be NOT wearing to WDW started to bum me out. But as it turns out not being on the dis was bumming me out even more. I kept sneaking in and wanting to post, but feeling like a schmuck just e-mailing TJ instead :rotfl: So. I can't go to the parks and I'm getting over it. I do have MNSSHP tix and there is a possibility we will stick around for an extra day to trick or treat in DTD, where DD will wear her Halloween patchwork twirl. And we are going to go to the petting zoo at Ft. Wilderness, she can wear her AK twirl top there. The only outfit that I didn't have the fabric cut on was her epcot one and maybe I'll just save that for our next trip. We usually go at least twice a year, but it's been a tough year, I'm still holding out hope for a spring trip- or possibly an overnight to MVMCP:santa: . So, in light of MYTWOTINKS post on being thankful, I'm back and will be thankful that my daughter has cute custom clothes to wear around town and that we are going to WDW at all. I will just have to focus on planning our next trip and practice sewing so I can make even better outfits for it!!!Besides, I'm secretly hoping that I find a way to go to the parks anyway:wizard:
SO now to catch up on some much missed posting; I made the top 10 ya know, gotta keep up my reputation.

So, I'm gonna stop being a big baby and come back, cause IT WAS KILLIN' ME!!!! I hate being left out-even when I do it to myself.
...t.

Glad to see you back. I wanted to mention that there are a few other activities at Fort Wilderness too. Like the Campfire sing a long with Chip and Dale bring your own Marshmellows etc and make smores then they show a movie. There are Pony RIdes too, but they close at 5:00.

You could also go to the Animal Kingdom Lodge and listen to their Story teller and look at the animals there.

I think quite a few of the resorts have similar activities. You will have a good time.
Trick or Treat at DTD sounds like fun too!

Here's the Halloween set I made for dd5 yesterday! It feels really nice to have actually totally finished a project. I'll be working on dd10's patchwork jeans today to "match" her sister.

Beautiful!!!!

isn't it great to completely finish a project:goodvibes i have a couple i still need to tweak and then they will be finished great outfit

Does anybody else have this problem?? while you sleep you are tossing and turning because your brain is thinking of all the sewing projects you need to do and or new ideas for stuff to do  (not that you don't already have enough) your sewing machine is calling you , calling you first thing in the morning and is telling you to neglect your house and or your kiddos, studying ect. and get on and start.... :rolleyes1 or is this just happening to me ... :scared1: :scared1: i think we need a support group:rotfl:!!! everyone have a great day:hug:
Oh boy do I ever! But I just moved the sewing machine into my bedroom and made a little sewing corner. I really need to chill a while!
Here is little tinkerbell- it's almost finished!!!! My grandma has been doing the sewing on this one:) I need something for her head- I'm thnking a headband/ a ribbon on- She doesn't have much hair uptop

awwwww! Cute Tink! I love that your Gma is sewing it! I wish I had one of those super wonderful gma's!!!!
Ok - I have a few pics to share! Sorry they are a little blurry - not sure what happened when I resized!

First - 2 more pics from the World - the first of Emma at Minnie's machine and the other of the kids and I at Epcot - excuse the funny squinty faces - it was sunny! ;).

th_CopyofDSC_1278.jpg

The next one is of the skirt I finished last week - I was waiting to post it when I finished the top - but I can't wait! ;)
th_DSC_1352.jpg

The last two are of the Christmas fabric Emma picked out herself the other day. She really loves the brown fabric - I am thinking of making a jumper style dress - so you can see it all. The candy cane fabric set will be a jean set. She has to wear a polo shirt for school if she wears pants - so I am going to buy a red or black polo - cut the bottom off and add the fabric to match.

Heyyyy! Sorry for accosting you in the POP food court! I was just thrilled to see a Boutique(e)r! Your kids are soooo cute! LOVE all the fabulous outfits you made!
I found this site a month or so ago, and wanted to share it with everyone. It has free adult patterns you can download. I have a lot of the patterns in the bookmarks site, but not all of them, so I thought I'd make sure everyone knew about it. :)

Aren't you Suzy HelperShoes! Really, we all totally appreciate all you do!!!!
Let me tell you about little ones' memories.... DGS Nicholas was 13 months old when he was taken from the orphanage in Kemorovo Region, Siberia Russia, the only home he ever had and rode a bus with his new parents, DD and DSIL...and then a grueling trip to USA. He had never ridden a bus since until he was 28 months old in WDW. He would point at the bus and talk about the bus, but when we tried to get him out of his stroller to get on the bus, it took 3 of us to pry his fingers loose and he clung to his mama and cried the entire time...no more bus for him...he must have remembered the bus ride in Russia....

Makayla was 21 months at the time when we were in WDW as a family and both of them remember so much it is unbelievable. With the DVD's that are available and the Disney channels, travel channel etc, it keeps it fresh in their memories. We have those DVD's of all of the parks they sell and when the kids see them, they always say, "I did that yesterday" (last year!)

We bought DVc specifically to provide these memories for our DGD and DGS's. We have willed our points to the kids so that the memories will live on. Last year was a family trip in Oct that was their Christmas gift, and this year it was Sept for one, Dec for another, Feb for another and May for the other with their families and us. How delightful.

And with their customs, how could they ever forget Disney????
Gotta love it!
Dang you for making me cry...everyone! I am so thankful for those little funny/quirky memories!
Don't tell anyone, but right now she's my favorite kid! Doesn't talk back, never begs for snacks, wears what I tell her, doesn't turn her ipod on and walk around the house screaming Hannah Montana songs at the top of her lungs, etc................. Why can't they all be so well behaved?????:confused3
I want a child like that!

For all of us wallyworld shoppers. Thought you would enjoy this....

This has been around awhile, but is always fun to re-read...

This is why women should not take men shopping against their will.

DON'T TAKE ME IF I DON'T WANT TO GO...........

After Mr. & Mrs. Fenton retired, Mrs. Fenton insisted her husband accompany her on her trips to Wal-Mart.

Unfortunately, Mr. Fenton was like most men--he found shopping boring & preferred to get in & get out.

Equally unfortunately, Mrs. Fenton was like most women--she loved to browse.

One day Mrs. Fenton received the following letter from her local Wal-Mart.

Dear Mrs. Fenton,

Over the past six months, your husband has been causing quite a commotion in our store. We cannot tolerate this behavior and may be forced to ban both of you from the store. Our complaints against Mr. Fenton are listed below and are documented by our video surveillance cameras.

1. June 15: Took 24 boxes of condoms and randomly put them in people's carts when they weren't looking.

2. July 2: Set all the alarm clocks in House wares to go off at 5-minute intervals.

3. July 7: Made a trail of tomato juice on the floor leading to the women's restroom.

4. July 19: Walked up to an employee and told her in an official voice, "Code 3 in Housewares. Get on it right away."

5. August 4: Went to the Service Desk and tried to put a bag of M&M's on layaway.

6. September 14: Moved a "CAUTION - WET FLOOR" sign to a carpeted area.

7. September 15: Set up a tent in the camping department & told other shoppers he'd invite them in if they would bring pillows and blankets from the bedding department.

8. September 23: When a clerk asked if they could help him he began crying and screamed,"Why can't you people just leave me alone?"

9. October 4: Looked right into the security camera & used it as a mirror while he picked his nose.

10. November 10: While handling guns in the hunting department, he asked the clerk where the antidepressants were.

11. December 3: Darted around the store suspiciously while loudly humming the "Mission Impossible" theme.

12. December 6: In the auto department, he practiced his "Madonna look" by using different sizes of funnels.

13. December 18: Hid in a clothing rack and when people browsed through, yelled "PICK ME! PICK ME!"

14. December 21: When an announcement came over the loudspeaker, he assumed a fetal position and screamed "OH NO! IT'S THOSE VOICES AGAIN!"

And last, but not least,

15. December 23: Went into a fitting room, shut the door, waited awhile, and then yelled very loudly, " Hey! There's no toilet paper in here!"

Regards,
Wal-Mart

Here is the latest outfit I made DD. I thought it turned out cute, and she seems to like it, so that's what counts, right?!

Yeah, there are quite a few free activities at the world. And our room is paid for and we already have MNSSHP tix, I just gotta figure out how to feed all of us.. so we may shorten the trip depending on cashflow ( I just knocked about $500 off of the monthly bills I had previously been looking for, so I may have a little more cash than I thought)
Here are my plans so far, if you know of something I'm missing ( like the story teller at AKL) LMK
28th (they have the room from the 26th but everyone else will be going out to big dinners to celebrate birthdays and anniversaries and such and well, we're broke) MNSSHP
29th (monday)sleeping in from the late night. Lunch at the pool (PB and J if I have to) Ft. Wilderness Petting zoo/pony rides possibly hanging out (illegally) at the pool depending on time and weather an early dinner at the Whispering Canyon Cafe (WL) w/ the rest of our party. Then back to campground for the Hayride (8$ for adults $4 for kids) if we catch the early one we should be back just in time for the sing along which we love and the smores packs are like $5- I'd spend twice that on supplies, have way more than I need and have to tote it around all day-so it's money well spent!
30th(tues) Mini Golf @ WDW both courses are open from 10am to 11 pm and are roughly $10 for adults and $8 for kids back to the hotel for lunch, dinner and pool time (Or if I can swing it dinner at the Poly- cause we've NEVER gone to WDW and NOT eaten at the Kona Cafe at least once) Then the Electric Water Pageant on the lake and MK's fireworks from the Poly beach
31st-HALLOWEEN if we haven't already gone through all of the money yet we will stay and do, who knows what..I'll have have to get some info on the activities at AKL then Trick or treating in DTD
This puts us to the last day of the reservation as we check out on the 2nd and the 1st is my anniversary so I keep telling myself WHY NOT go for the whole vacation 26th-2nd but in all honesty I'm probably stretching to stay for Halloween and should probably return home. This is my loose sketch of what we CAN do and will vary depending on the cash flow. Of course you know I'm expecting to work one of my "super mom" miracles and come up w/ vacation money in the next 16 days. :wizard: We'll see what I can figure out.

Do you have anything that you can sell on Voldemort? Can you make anything to sell there? Might be a quick 100 bucks!! Every little bit helps!! Can you change your ressies, and stay somewhere cheaper? Eat PB & J every day from now until when you go....oodles of noodles....jello????? There is a budget board here, and they have some good ideas from time to time, even though your time is quickly approaching!!

HELP!!! I can't find any Frosty the Snowman clip art or coloring pages!! Can anyone help?

Then the Electric Water Pageant on the lake and MK's fireworks from the Poly beach
.

Stand near the dock, where the boats go out for the Wishes cruise. We did this at the Contemporary, if someone doesn't show up for their cruise, you might get asked to go on it for free. The driver told us that even though it's non refundable, the driver doesn't get paid unless he takes the boat out. We went to see the pagent and were asked to go. And we tried again the following year, and lucked out a second time.

Oh, man, this brings back memories. Once on my birthday, I told my DH all I wanted was to sit through a time share presentation so that we could get $75 in Disney $. It was a fortune for us at the time...and we ate PBJ every day, had cereal and milk in the room in a cooler. Ate the fixins from the fixin bars...spent all our days at the pools and for fun pool hopped...kept the same paper cup all week for drinks...oh, HEY, YOU HAVE TO TAKE A BUS OVER TO POR WED TO SAT EVENINGS 8PM TO MIDNIGHT FOR FREE ENTERTAINMENT...PIANO BOB...HE IS AWESOME AND HE DOES STUFF WITH T HE KIDS, SINGING, AND HE IS A RIOT...FREE...YOU DON'T HAVE TO BUY DRINKS...WE DON'T....GREAT SHOW, DON'T MISS IT! If you haven't done it.,..go to mousesavers.com Mary has a lot of free stuff to do on her board.

Hey, at least you will be there, right?

I too am totally depressed, I was REALLY hoping to go back to WDW this December (I turn 30 in Jan, so I wanted to go for an earlier present...) But my DH totally put the kabosh to that and basically said that he doesn't see us going back anytime soon. Money totally sucks right now, I have a DS1 and DS5 that are at home all day and then a DD6 that I need to get off of the bus everyday. I stay at home with them, but we have had a few financial struggles lately and money is really tight.

That said our neighbors invited us to go camping with the kids this weekend(our kiddos have never been before) and DH is like where are we going to come up with cash for splitting the lot and food and whatever else-BLAH BLAH BLAH...so I told him that I would sell some things on EBAY to pay for the weekend trip. So maybe that is an option for you. I just sold some random craft supplies, kids clothes. I listed 25 things on Thursday and did a 3 day listing so that it would end on Sunday and I could get the money for this weekend. I made almost $200!!! :cool1: If you need help feel free to contact me. If you could list this week then you could have your money before you leave!

I don't know if I'm doing anything for Christmas. I made those Halloween patchwork twirl skirts, which took me way too long. And my girls can only wear them this month. It's been in the 80's, so they haven't even worn them yet. It's supposed to get colder, though. They should be wearing them soon. I don't know if I want to put all that time and effort into another project that can only be worn for such a short time. Does anyone else feel this way?

I did buy the Mickey winter fabric, which I should start on soon.
I hear ya on the hot humid weather. I am in the process of making Halloween twirl skirts and I had bought cute tights to go with them. Yikes!!!:sad2: Its like 80 degrees here....more like shorts and tank top weather to me. Oh well...as you said they may only wear the skirts a few times. Same thing happened with their back-to-school dresses...took me hours and hours and they only wore them once.

Yes, this is Mary's list on Mousesavers.com
The games at the Boardwalk aren't free, however. There is a catch and release fishing hole at POR that is cheap too. Kids would love it. The boat from POR to DTD at night is really cool...it is so dark and you can see the Treehouses that are now used by the Disney College program. I love that ride. Go down town and then back again. The pools at POR and FQ are really cool too. But like I said, if you want to laugh and have fun with the kids, Piano Bob is great...he gets the kids up there with him and is a scream! If you do a google for Piano Bob you will see his web page.

Wanted to chime in on selling things. If you don't want to do Voldemort, the you can always sell things on craigslist. I do this when I am in a crunch for some quick cash -- all local (if there is one in your area).

I don't know if anyone answered your question yet. But, I'll give it a shot! I usually make the elastic about the same size as Tessa's waist. If it fits too tight she's not going to want to wear it. I haven't had a problem with it stretching out. This is a really cute skirt!!

Thanks so much!! i appreciated the answer!!!! Wendy

I really need to go back and read thet pages I have missed.... There are some cute outfits being posted here!!

Here is my latest creation:

Ignore the crazy hair....she has some wild hair and was having too much fun twirling around for me to fix it. We have a great pumpkin patch here with a petting zoo and hayrides. We are headed there tomorrow I think. The weather is supposed to be about 85, but if they are wrong I can always put a shirt under this. This was my first adventure making a button hole and making something that buttons :goodvibes It wasnt too bad, but I had a hard time figuring out how big to make the holes so the buttons would fit through. That was a challenge and I am sure there is some handy trick to that I am just not aware of.
