Here's the Halloween set I made for dd5 yesterday! It feels really nice to have actually totally finished a project. I'll be working on dd10's patchwork jeans today to "match" her sister.

Adorable! I love the colors, and that purple fabric is awesome. Too cute!

SSSOOO Nobody has anything ready for Christmas yet? I need ideas. I am set for fall, now I need Christmas/ New yrs.
Lori

When I was waiting at the cutting counter at JoAnn's there was a cart of the cutest Christmas fabric, all 50% off. I only bought a yard each of four. I have no idea what I'm going to do with it yet.

They aren't Disney, but I have 1 Winter outfit half done and half a dozen Christmas projects waiting to be started! I am finishing DD's Thanksgiving outfit. I should be ready to post later tonight!!

I got the Prettiest gingerbread fabric at Joann's yesterday!! I need to get some ivory cordouroy or velvet to go with it.

I have bought several different fabrics. I am working up the courage to make a twirl skirt or a patchwork skirt. I bought both Disney Christmas prints, the teal/blue and the darker blue with some coordinating fabrics

Christmas . . .

My first show is in nine days EEKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK!!!! So my time is super limited. I am finishing a couple outfits for customers, building houses, and have a couple more Halloween things to finish.

I have nine customs planned for Christmas. Somtime today I will take pics of the fabric combos. It will be a good break.

Guess what . . . I did a Candy Corn applique last night too.

Waaayyy CUTE! Love to see stuff for the boys!

I have been making so much for my girls I finally got around to sewing an outfit for nicholas! Not much for boys made here, so I thought I would share. my hubby even liked the outfit!

I don't know if I'm doing anything for Christmas. I made those Halloween patchwork twirl skirts, which took me way too long. And my girls can only wear them this month. It's been in the 80's, so they haven't even worn them yet. It's supposed to get colder, though. They should be wearing them soon. I don't know if I want to put all that time and effort into another project that can only be worn for such a short time. Does anyone else feel this way?

I did buy the Mickey winter fabric, which I should start on soon.

I just put in some earplugs and sewed through the bickering and fighting!! I highly recommend it!

that is what i am planning on doing tommorow but i will bribe DD to be the mommy and keep her ears open so that no one gets hurt i will not have any hospital visits before my trip
I wish I could have left the oldest in charge, but he was doing a LOT of the bickering! He has been a little sensitive lately, and anything his sisters do set him off!
Waiting for pictures while graciously holding my flower that I've decided to accept :flower3: !
:rotfl2: You've made me giggle Deann! Pictures will be forthcoming shortly. I have to charge the battery in my camera.

OT: Scrappy brought us a present this morning: a dead baby bunny. It's the third one his gotten in a month. I don't know why they keep coming into our fenced yard. Don't they notice that there's less of them coming back each time? Thankfully, Megan doesn't totally grasp the situation. She told Scrappy not to bring nature into the house. Her brother says, yes, especially dead nature!

Foster Tarp (our cat who has a middle name) caught a rabbit the other day. The girls didn't get nearly as upset as I thought they would.

Dead nature has me laughing. :lmao: I'm sorry! :lmao:
Deann!! I didn't recognize you without the incredibles siggy pic. I love the interpretive candy corn skirt. That is too cute! Congrats on cutting into the Minnie dot. It turned out SO cute. But, that cutie wearing the outfit outshines everything! Can't wait to see what you do with the fancy fabric!
You knew the interpretive candy corn would get me, didn't you! :rotfl2:

My sister really is evil! She had me convinced that the Beverly was the most wonderful, sweet, heavenly drink on the face of the earth. Imagine my horror when I actually took a big swig! I sure wish I had known about the disboards before this incident...

Oh, it was priceless!!!!! :rotfl: :lmao: :rotfl2: I had them ALL convinced!!!!!

And, I have the disboards to thank for tipping me off on the Beverly!!!

ok not disney but this is a southwest set I just finished last night. I found a yard of these way in the bottom of my stash and thought I would use it up while inspiration hit!
here it is... Yee Haw perfect for our AZ weather! pants and short sleeves

Lori, that is so cute!!!!

So that's the trick - EARPLUGS!!! I'll have to try that! ;) Can't wait to see the skirt!

Works like a charm!!!

Nope, what counts is that we like it! And we do!! Very cute!

I better get a sneak peak of this skirt!! I am going to have to try the earplug thing. Actually, I'm pretty good at tuning them out without earplugs. Sawyer has been getting into something noisy in the kitchen for the last 1/2 hour and I still haven't gotten up to check on it. How great is that!?
I tried to send you a picture, but as I mentioned earlier, my batteries are dead in my camera, and I can't find Corey's!

Sawyer is probably making you lunch! I bet it's suppose to be a suprise, you should't check on him, you'd ruin it! :rotfl:

DEAD nature!! :lmao: As much as I LOVE bunnies (I had a pet bunny named Jed who could use a litter box just like a cat), that is hilarious!!

Poor Jedder Bunny. RIP He was a sweet bunny.

I totally agree! Zoe was barely 2 on her first visit to Disneyland and Sea World. I really didn't expect her to remember much once we got home so I was very surprised when several months later she mentioned details on one event (Shamu splashing us) that I'd totally forgotten. I remembered the expression on her face of stunned outrage at having water suddenly in her face and she remembered we'd been eating popcorn and had a soda. You can tell what stood out in her mind as an important detail. :rotfl: She rarely got either so having both was a real treat. She also remembers her Aunt (my sister) buying a Shamu towel so we could dry her face. She still has the towel and mentions getting splashed but I'm not sure how much she remembers now, almost 4 years later, and how much is memory from the stories we've discussed about that trip.

Love the story!!! I am a firm believer in taking kids to Disney, no matter how old they are. Look to the left for my stand on how old a child should be when they go to Disney!

I agree. Mine may not remember everything - but we "live in the moment"! I am there for the right then experience - I don't care if they remember it when they are 20. I think you miss out on the AWE factor too if you don't take them when they are young - already at 7 years old mine are asking if the characters are real and missing some of the magic!

Maybe make a short sleeved top that you can put a long sleeved top under it. Also - I know what you mean about it being short lived - I try to make "fall" and "winter" outfits so they can be worn a couple of months. leaves and pumpkins for fall and snowflakes and snowmen for winter.

isn't it great to completely finish a project:goodvibes i have a couple i still need to tweak and then they will be finished:rolleyes1 great outfit

Does anybody else have this problem?? while you sleep you are tossing and turning because your brain is thinking of all the sewing projects you need to do and or new ideas for stuff to do  (not that you don't already have enough) your sewing machine is calling you , calling you first thing in the morning and is telling you to neglect your house and or your kiddos, studying ect. and get on and start.... :rolleyes1 or is this just happening to me ... :scared1: :scared1: i think we need a support group:rotfl:!!! everyone have a great day:hug:

EWWw I hope Sophie doesn't start doing this. So far the only thing she tries to catch are "palmetto" bugs. AKA giant roaches that live outside in the south.

They don't just live outside. Ours came in during the winter one year & then we couldn't get rid of them. EEEEWWWWWW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AND they fly. :scared1: Just thinking about it makes my skin crawl.

I made Halloween jumpers for my girls for that reason. They are wearing short sleeves under them now & if it cools down that much before Halloween they can wear long sleeves too.

For Christmas I'm using the red snowman fabric from Wal-Mart. I got some strips & polka dots to go with it. I figure it's Christmas-y enough (a little candy cane-ish), but not specific enough that they can't wear it in January & February too. I've always made Christmas outfits for them, but then the grandparents get them outfits too & they never get to wear them all for more than a couple of times.

Here is little tinkerbell- it's almost finished!!!! My grandma has been doing the sewing on this one:) I need something for her head- I'm thnking a headband/ a ribbon on- She doesn't have much hair uptop :rotfl:

I think a headband or a ribbon would be great. good job to your grandma. is that her in the pic?

Lori

Yep that's grams she will be 89 in december and she is still working- She works for a costume company, and she sews & knits for all us grandkids & great grandkids in her "spare time"

has anyone made a twirl skirt out of flannel??? or doyou basically use flannel for PJs only? Right now in NE PA we are still in the 80s  but I know we WILL get cold weather and I want to make skirts that are more wintery (is that a word?). Would a flannel twirl look okay? or nah? :confused3

i totally get you!:thumbsup2 For some reason it doesn't bother me when I make something holiday themed, but I am too cheap to buy something like a sweatshirt. I know the logic isn't really there because I guarantee that I spend more money making something than buying something, but it just works itself out that way in my brain.:confused3

Ok - I have a few pics to share! Sorry they are a little blurry - not sure what happened when I resized!

First - 2 more pics from the World - the first of Emma at Minnie's machine and the other of the kids and I at Epcot - excuse the funny squinty faces - it was sunny! ;).

CopyofDSC_1278.jpg

The next one is of the skirt I finished last week - I was waiting to post it when I finished the top - but I can't wait! ;)
DSC_1352.jpg

The last two are of the Christmas fabric Emma picked out herself the other day. She really loves the brown fabric - I am thinking of making a jumper style dress - so you can see it all. The candy cane fabric set will be a jean set. She has to wear a polo shirt for school if she wears pants - so I am going to buy a red or black polo - cut the bottom off and add the fabric to match.
