Kids Disney Boutique / Customs Clothes Part 4

This is how I did my tutu-

I used the rolls of tulle ( mine were from Hobby Lobby) and cut them into 6 in long strips. I sewed the ends of the elastic together to make the waist and then I tied them on to the elastic by making a loop and pulling the ends through- so it isn't "tied" persay but it worked pretty well. My elastic kind of stretched as I was going- but I tried another and didnt pull them so tight and it worked better. I used 25 yards on the short one I did for Laila.

Thank You- I did find instructions in the bookmarks- Pretty much the same- They had the elastic around a chair when tying on the tulle. Think I will give it a try tonight!!

Not sure what you are looking for, but this one is cute. Search (eb@y) boutique minnie outfit/costume. Pretty good price, but it ends in little over an hour!!

I was refering to a pattern for the belle costume that I have been looking for.

T-beri sorry to see you go you have a great sense of humor I have really enjoyed your comments they cracky me up :rotfl2:

I have to tackle one of those this weekend!!! Looks great!

Are you crazy? Hands down, it's Anthony!

I second that!!!

I am not going to be on the dis right now. I don't really know when I'll be back. I just wanted to thank all of you for your camaraderie and inspiration. All of your gorgeous outfits inspired me to keep at sewing and practice. All of you regardless of skill level have been an inspiration. While I was on here I really felt a sense of friendship among the board members and I am thankful to have met all of you. I hope that someday our paths will cross again.

Have an excellent Halloween, I know there are many costume contests to be won. Keep up the excellent work and Have a great time on your next trip to WDW.
Till next time...tifani.

:sad1: Bye!

Of course if it's Mickey, we love it!!! I like that fabric, but never bought any cause I had no idea what to do with it. That looks cute! I love the Cinderella!

Since finding this board, i too feel like my dd needs an outfit for every occasion. My family thinks i have lost it. I just say it is a good thing we only have one girl!!! I have GOT to learn to sew. I cant afford an outfit for everything, birthday, thanksgiving, christmas, dallas games, brothers baseball games... the list goes on and on and on. =) My newest plan is to take a sewing class and then get a machine... we will see...

OMG....This sounds exactly like I could have wrote this! I can't afford all the stuff I want either. I have been on Ebay restriction for about 2 weeks now :sad2: (I still look...I need 2 pirate Halloween costumes ;) )
I do have a sewing machine and just yesterday I said I am going to figure out how to sew if it kills me...(I normally only make very easy curtains)...GREAT thing we only have one girl, it's the only way I can justify my obsession "She's our only little girl, she's not going to be little forever" . Our DS also plays baseball, I have gotten a few cute baseball outfits for little baseball sis, and as far baseball expenditures THAT IS A WHOLE OTHER SUBJECT with DH those are "ok expenses" :scared: hahaha.
Do you live in Dallas? We are in Cedar Hill.

Hello... I think is board is the answer to my Disney wishes! My daughter is having a Jo Jo's circus 1st birthday in Dec. and a few days later we are leaving for Disney World so I am also looking for Disney 1st birthday outfits / dreses. I have been watching ebay for what feels like forever and I have not seen anything that fits my needs in a LONG time (yes I am kicking myself for not buying her dreses for this trip when she was 3 mo. old!) Can anyone help me? PLEASE????

How hard is it to learn how to crochet? If you don't have any body to teach you how can you learn?

My Aunt tried to teach me when I was a child, but she gave up. She lives to far away to teach me now.

I taught myself before our DL trip to make a pirate hat, it wasn't hard at all. Check out the book Learning Visually how to crochet and there is a Knit one as well. It really helped. For my first item to make I made a hat!

No we arent in Dallas but my DH is a huge cowboys fan. I found some great cowboy fabric online at joanns and hancock but our stores here dont carry it. i hate to spend the 6.95 to ship it, and since i cant do sew yet... well i havent ordered it. We are in sw florida.
After 3 boys we are loving having a little girl. More than i could ever imagine. princess: I too have to drag my self away from Ebay, it is a dangerous place for me!!!! :confused3

Here are a few photos from our trip.
Unfortunately DD didn't get to wear all of the customs that I made. It was either too hot, or way too rainy for the day the outfit was planned for. I guess I will just have to plan another trip soon so that she will have a chance to wear them.

DD got lots of attention on the days she wore her customs.

Tom! She looks adorable! I hadn't seen the Mrs. Potato Head outfit...so cute!!! I'm thinking that little gem will be copied. Alot!

I know what you mean about all the attention! My DD ate it up!!!
Makes it all worth it, I think.

How was Chef Mickey's? We ended up canceling that ADR do to my blistered sore feet and lack of will to get there in the pouring rain. :guilty:

I took a picture of Norah in front of Minnie's sewing machine too! That should be this thread's required photo.

Chef Mickey's was good! Leighanna loved the attention from all the characters.

We ended up cancelling BBB because of the pouring rain. I guess we will have to try again on the next trip!

Tom - The Sailor Minnie outfit is soooo cute ( I can just barely see the other Minnie) and the Alice in Wonderland couldn't be more adorable and a perfect replica!

Utah Mama (I feel weird calling you that :lmao: ) out of all the picture signatures....yours gets me every time...I don't know if you are trying to be funny or what you are doing, but it's my favorite! (I feel weird saying that to you too)
:rotfl:

We are going when it's supposedly "cooler".... I don't care, my DD is wearing every outfit - hot, cold, rain or snow. (jk)

Sorry, I see your name is Wendy...it's been a long day, it's hard to read DIS all day, look at Ebay and try to work..:

Good morning all! I would like to find a place online where I can purchase personalized labels to sew into my handmades. Something like "sewn with love by..." I can't seem to find any. Do you guys have any tips??

I just found the name of a site which does the labels....namemaker.com. They are the same brand that sell at the Joann's and Hancock's but you can order direct online. Nana

Just for laughs I thought I would list the "Top Chatters" here on the thread! I barely made the top 100! :confused3

So, my mission began to find "better outfits" to wear to DW :lmao: I wish it could have ended there, but it has ventured out: A Bow for EVERY piece of clothing we own, First Day of School, Birthday Outfit, Halloween Dress and Costume, Christmas Outfits...the list goes on.

It's an addiction, that's for sure. I've gotten so bad I try to think of things to do that would be a good reason to make DD a new set. :lmao:

P.S. I was updating our itenerary yesterday and was printing it, my DH picked it up and was like..."Are you mental"...our itenerary lists the days, what parks we are visiting, the ADR #'s and what outfits the kids are wearing. example MGM-kids wearing Cars outfits, MK-DD Cinderella Dress, etc...He thinks I have lost my mind. Sorry for such a long post!

There's nothing wrong with being organized. Tell him how much time it will save each day because you won't need to decide which outfit the kids will wear. :rolleyes1

I find it much easier, and I get a prettier outfit, if I just ruffle first and then attach later. I really like the idea the doing both at the same time, but I'd ended up w/ not enough ruffle before and uneven ruffles too, so doing them seperately has worked out better so far. I change my settings depending on how much ruffle I want. Mine has a star, a 1, a 6, and a 12. So you can either do no ruffle, one ever stitch (super ruffle), one every 6th stitch (medium ruffle), or one every 12th stitch (more of a gather). Then I have a depth adjustment, 1-8 I think, the bigger the # the deeped the pleat, so the bigger ruffle as well. I just sat and played w/ mine after I got to kind of figure out what I wanted. I usually use the 6 setting w/ like a 4 deep for normal things and the 1 setting w/ 4 deep for the YCMT type skirt w/ ruffle bottom.

It took me some time but I was able to get fairly close to having the strips of fabric end at the same time. I did some practice pieces using one strip that was twice as long as the strip it would be sewn to. I tinkered with the stitch length and the depth of the pleat/tuck the ruffler made. It wasn't perfect but I got close enough that I didn't have to trim much off the flat strip. I really think it was worth the time doing the test because it made the whole process so much more streamlined. I'm still not able to get the seams of patchwork strips to line up as I like but I got close enough to do that on skirts for Zoe. I'll probably ruffle separate from stitching the tiers together, though, when I'm more concerned about matching seams.

Me too!!!! When I have to put on tennis shoes for working out (not very often :rotfl: ), I feel like my feet are going to hyperventilate!!!!

I really need to get some crocs because my feet really don't like when it's too cold to reasonanly wear flip-flops. I swear it's like they can't breath... not even enough to hyperventilate. :rotfl:

My DH rolled his eyes at me packing with everything labeled in bags until we got to Disney. It took four girls practically no time at all to get ready or change in the afternoon. One time we went from the pool to ready for the evening in 15 minutes and that was FOUR girls getting ready simulataneously! :thumbsup2

I love the new winter crocs with a fuzzy lining thats detachable. Unfortunately they are almost $40 each :sad1:

WOW! No wonder I'm having a hard time getting anything done! I guess I'm not THAT chatty though.

Lisa - would you mind sharing your conclusions from your ruffler test? What settings do you have to use to get so close? That is the one thing about using the ruffler that drives me nuts! I hate that I need to ruffle and then attach when I know that I CAN ruffle and attach at the same time. I just haven't figured out the right ratio yet.
