Don't mind my ds hiding his face, but he doesn't like have pics taken. His hair looks that way on purpose. In fact he spends a lot of time making his hair look like that.

:rotfl: About the comment on your sons hair! You ladies (and gentleman) are cracking me up today! Great job on both outfits!! I also wanted to add that I have the matching rocking chairs to your patio set! Gotta love that Martha Stewart!

Teresa, I'm sorry about the white hair comment. You know I love you:hug: Besides, I've seen some suspiciously light "blonde" hairs on my head lately...:rolleyes1

I know this is going to sound suspicious but TRACI is the one who gets the free minnie dot dress. I had 10 people respond and put everyone's name in the cup and my daughter wanted to be the one to draw the name. She pulled out "Traci" and got a very confused look on her face and wanted to know why I put my name in the cup. I told her it was another mom named Traci. She said she didn't know that there was any other mom's that spelled their name my way. :rotfl: Thanks for your interest and wish I had more to give away.

Sorry for the confusion, Traci! Sometimes I spell my name T-r-a-c-i. You know- Heather, Traci, pretty much the same name. So, really, it was me that won. Yeah, it was me!! :rolleyes1

Yea right. You've probably heard that Kansas people are a little slow but I'm smarter than that. Despite all the rednecks we do have in the area!!! Nice try though! :rotfl:

If I can think of anything else to give away I'll let you know...

:dance3: This is me T-R-A-C-I doing the happy minnie dot dress boogie!!

Thank you so much (give your dd a hug from this Missouri momma)! I never win anything so I am super excited! And if you think KC folks are slow I'm not even going to comment on us Okies...

Seriously, thank you again and your generosity is much appreciated.
Warmly~

What about us poor folks that grew up in MO, went to college in OK and now live in KS. I must be way behind the curve. :rotfl:

WOW, that must be hard for you. Who do you root for in college football in a case like yours.

And by the way, I'm 3 hours from Kansas City, them are city folks, I live in RURAL Kansas very close to Nebraska.

We have a whopping 1100 people in my town and 5500 people in the whole county which is 900 square miles. I think we actually have more cows and pigs here than people! So, I can assure you I know a lot about rednecks!! :rolleyes1

Is the Michael Miller fabric found at Joann's or maybe Hancocks? Or does anyone know of a good website that sells it?

Thanks to whoever brought it to my attention. My daughter and I spent two hours oohing and aahing over the fabric on their website. Such gorgeous, vibrant colors and patterns.

I'm assuming it doesn't get sold at Waldemort. At least I haven't seen anything like it around here.

Hello all!

Since we are in costume mode, I thought I would share mine!

Anyway here are my pics.

DD in Alice costume:

Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum for DW and I.
Alice014.jpg

Should I add the name "Dee" and "Dum" on the collar?

Absolutely beautiful...your DD really looks like Alice! And I love your costumes....they are costumes right??? I mean you don't normally wear stuff like that, right? :rotfl2: Just kidding.....:rotfl: You all are really going to look great! Have fun!

Not that you want or need a Viking but . . . I know the big Jo Ann's near us has a Viking shop. They would be a great place to go and collect info. Then you can shop around with the info you received from Viking. Good luck finding your perfect machine. I know the Wally's Disney is around $400. I do not have that one but I know it has mixed reviews.

Whenever I get my girls names monogramed it is $8 each at the tote bag kiosk at the mall.
I know most normal places have normal stores....however I live at the very edge of civilization where stores are few and FAR between. Our JoAnn's barely has fabric but I will have to look around. The problem is I have too many expensive hobbies. So I guess I need to do a little more research!

I really don't have an answer to either of your questions but I have been looking at embroidery machines myself. So far I have looked at the Husqvarna and the Bernina lines and still have Janome on my list of to-be-looked-at. I have been visiting local shops that specalize in the machines and they have been a great wealth of information. You can typically find them listed under the manufacture's website (as authorized retailers)

Of course have fallen in LOVE with the top of the line from both Husqvarna and Bernina, but at $6000+ they are no where near my budget right now. Husqvarna makes an embroidery-only machine (Husky EM10) for about $600 that came well recommended by one of the shops. As soon as she gets more in stock I plan on test-driving one. I think other companies also make embroidery-only machines. I'm hoping to see more machines at this year's International Quilt Festival in November (maybe an early Christams present?!?)

Keep us updated on your search for a machine.
Thanks Kara....yes I havent even begun to look at machines in person. As I was saying to Aimee....we don't have very many sewing or quilting stores around here. I really have to decide what my needs are before I can research...I love the idea of test-driving a machine!!!! Do they let you do that at the store or take it home? I know with saddles for horses...you can take them home and try it on the horse!!! :rotfl2: Anyways... I will keep you posted on websites and what not.....let me know if you find anything good! :goodvibes

Here's last year's Halloween costumes. Dh was Christopher Robin & I was Tinkerbell. Sadly I seem to have lost the only pic of all of us together.

PoohPiglet.jpg

Awwwwwwww how adorable!

I found some really cute bow directions and added them to the bookmarks site. There are directions for lady bugs, strawberries, butterflies and a bunch more! So Cute! The site they are on is really full of information! Be sure to check out the forum too. I've tried to add all the instructions to the bookmards individually, but there is so much there, I'm sure I missed some!

Hey....great directions....thanks!!!! ;)

Funny you should say this cause last night I "googled" Michael Miller Fabric and was pouring over it myself. I guess you could do a search online and find some sites that sell it..... course then you always get stuck with shipping charges.

I actually went to the Univ of Tulsa, so not a strong football school, no allegiance to OU or OSU. I wasn't a big MU fan growing up. We'll root for KU or KSU in football. Huge KC Chiefs fans though.
But when it comes to basketball it is KU all the way baby. :cheer2:

You can only get Michael Miller at "real" quilt shops. Hancocks of Paducah (not associated with the Hancock fabric stores) online has a ton of it as does equilters.com. You could probably google and find it online.
I think you said awhile ago that you are coming to OP for a conference. There are a couple of great quilt shops here I'd be happy to get you addresses and directions to. If you want them just PM me.

My dh is a Chiefs fan...football season is interesting in our house...I'm a Dallas Cowboys fanatic!!! :scared1:
oh, and he did his undergrad at MU and I root for the Sooners.

Which reminds me I saw a funny Sooners/Texas shirt - - it said
"If your kid goes to Texas...
you could always have another kid"
:rotfl: sorry Longhorn fans :)

Okay I have officially decided I hate Halloween :rolleyes1

Here's what has been torturing me for the last three weeks. I am finally done. Please tell me that she actually resembles Bumbles. My dd was adamant that she be the abominable snowman from Rudolf for Halloween. How do they come up with this stuff? But, anyway, it's not perfect but it's done and I am walking away!!!!!! I will still be vacuuming up the rogue fur for the next six months :headache:

So does this....

If I am really quiet can I come too? :rotfl2: :rotfl: :rotfl2:

Good luck finishing your projects. Are you going for the weekend or are you staying longer?
We will be there thru tuesday night....and I have room in my room for a stowaway!

Hello all!

Since we are in costume mode, I thought I would share mine!

Be gentle. :goodvibes A 12 pack of Dt. Pepsi Max and a 12hr. sewing marathon were not a good mix on the last outfit. I even broke my seam ripper trying to rip out a seam. Hmmm.... that should have told me right there and then to call it a night!

Anyway here are my pics.

She gave it two thumbs up on the comfy factor!:thumbsup2

Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum for DW and I.
Alice014.jpg

Should I add the name "Dee" and "Dum" on the collar? I thought I could use a fabric marker and add it, but wasn't sure. Let me know what you think?
We also have the hats with the little propeller on them.;) I figure this is the only place that you can look like a "Dork" and no one would think anything bad of you for it!
OMG, she looks just like alice! I love it!

oh, I got all but the minnie dot at walmart so hopefully they have them there!

lori
Our walmart is pretty useless. If I want camo I can find it there for sure....not much else. I may try one other one tomorrow morning but I am cutting myself off at tomorrow. I cannot be sewing all day thursday!! (although, I am having a hard time sleeping these days....maybe I need another project to occupy my sleepless nights?)

I lost some quotes! Such a cute pooh and piglet costume pic....and lots of other cute kids too. I hate when my quotes dissappear!

The town I grew up in only had about 200 people in it. It was about 45 min tot he nearest W-M or McDonalds. I think I'd go crazy if I had to move back there now. :rotfl2: I can relate to the rednecks too.

I have seen a few Michael Miller fabrics at Hobby Lobby in the past. I'm pretty sure I've seen a few at JoAnn's too. They just never have many & you have to know what your looking for. I was on a search for nearly a year for one of his Eiffel Tower prints.

Okay I have officially decided I hate Halloween :rolleyes1
