Good Morning Sewers! (Which is spelled the same as the other "sewer")

So, in a mini-fit (invisible to the naked eye) I ripped the Aurora bodice off the skirt and am starting over!!!! Let's JUST say, that Aurora does not show THAT much cleavage...especially if she's 3. I think I've got it now though. I have to keep reminding myself that I'm doing this because the store-bought costumes are not as nice as homespun one's. Not as hot, not as scratchy, no one else has one just like it, plus Norah LOVES every thing I make. Which can and will take a turn for the worse in a few short years when she won't want to be caught dead in something mama-made.

Let me just say, that the official Aurora pattern is crazy confusing and I'm going back to EASY before I hurt someone ;)

And I'm doing the 4 more days dance! Looks a little like this: :cool1:

I hear you. I haven't used one of the 'officail' patterns yet, but a friend of mine whose little girl was at dds princess party used one to make a Snow White dress. She had to reread teh part for the sleeves several times & got me to look at it to see how I thought she was supposed to do it. It looked great when she got it finished though & her dd insisted on wearing to to Target before they came to the party.

:yay: Avery received her little surprise yesterday! Thank you so much :yay:

It's going to be in the mid 80's today so she got to wear it to preschool. I took a couple of pics this morning to share. It was still early so she wasn't smiling much (my daughter isn't a morning person). I can assure you she LOVES her *sparkley* watermelon outfit though! She picked out pink Cinderella panties to match it (all by herself, mind you).

I have a surprise coming your way now....you should get it in few days - I stopped by the post office this morning after dropping off the babes!

Steph, thanks again you sweetie-pie :flower3:

That is too cute! I love watermelon outfits.

I Made That Beautiful Simplicity Aurora, And It Was A Pain...it Really Is An Advanced Pattern...been Sewing Since 42 Years And I Had To Read And Reread And Look At The Pics And The Pattern Pics...but It Is To Die For.....i Will Post Pics When I Can...we Leave On Thursday Night And I Still Have To Hem It. My Dgd Mayaklya Wears A 2 T And I Had To Cut Down Every Piece Of That Pattern To Make One That Would Fit...if I Were To Sell Something Like That I Would Charge A Lot Of Money...but The Finished Product Is Nothing Like You See Off The Rack.

There Is A More Simple Pattern That You Just Gather The Skirt. This One Had These Triangular Pieces That Had To Fit Into Each Of These Panels...and Oh, So Many More Difficult Things.

Two Of The Outfits I Made Makayla Were Infant Patterns And I Made An Xl, Guess What....way Too Big...so I Will Make Something Else And Maybe Next Year She Can Wear Them/

I Did Buy One Thing From Voldemart - Raggedy Ann Shortalls And They Are So Cute...i Can't Believe I Got Them For That Price...i Will Post Later...

So Off To The Machine....had To Call In Sick Today...no Scheduled Patients On A Tuesday, So No Loss To Anyone...

Can't Wait To Get These Done And Get To Wdw....woohoo

Susan

YES!!!!!

It's coming along though. I changed to a less heavy fabric on top and NO liner in the skirt, she'll wear a slip. It is TOO heavy even with calico cotton. The skirt is SO cute. Little pink flowers. :cutie: The top was hoochie-mama! That's why I'm do-ing over, AND studying the very advanced pattern directions! I guess Disney makes TONS of money from people giving up and buying the regulation princess gowns...

I'll either:

1. post it even if it goes down hill again (and I hope all y'all will lie princess: !!!!)

or

2. High-Tail it to the Disney Store in defeat.

Alas, I've ate some chocolate and about 4 cans of diet Pepsi Max....and I say, "Bring it ON, Aurora!!!!" ;)

I can use everyone's prayers and a bucket of Pixie Dust...

Aw, good luck! Aurora was a bit of a tart though, flirting with strangers in the woods?

I know you can do it: I'll be thinking of you!

Coming right up! :wizard:
OK, now there is no way I am attempting this dress without my moms help. Of course Amanda wnted Aurora too, and after hearing your pain I will wait it out and ask for help. I did have a Disney store coupon and found an adorable Alice costume there yesterday. (I was also going to try that but I am running out of time!) It is really pretty and sparkly, so she will wear that to her BBB appt.

I am waiting on my 'model' to cooperate for some pics, but I finished another outfit. I have one more I really want to do today...and if I can find some animal print fabric tonight I may attempt something for AK. If not, I am going to call it good enough! 3 more sleeps!!!!

Here is my Halloween shirt for DS3. Now if I could just find Long sleeve orange shirts for my 2 DD I would be done with Halloween. Yippee.
We just got tickets for HSM on ice so now I have to figure out something for that. I was going to try for Hannah Montana tixs but they sold out too fast, oh well.

This is AWESOME!!!!! Great job!

I just finished one of my twins Aurora dress. I will say that it was NOT fun. I really don't care for it to be honest with ya. I used the Butterick B4320 pattern and the side skirt thingy.was a pain in my booty! I had an AURORA plastic charm from the pair of shoes we had 2 years ago and the girls out grew, so I cut them off the shoes and put it on the dress. Lets just say my 4 year old is happy with it, so let me get a crown, some shoes, and a bucket made. 1 down 3 to go!

You can't see, but the pink material has silver specks of glitter on it, and the pink sheer has pink plastic balls and irridescent glitter chunks on it. My DD helped to pick everything out. I wanted to do gold trim, but the silver specks would not have matched, so I will go with a pink beaded crown instead of the nicer, delux gold crown.

Hey UMA ~
THIS Aurora dress??? (heh heh. I made my sister make it for me!)

DisneyPhotoImage70.jpg

But I did make the Snow White - the sleeves were tough the first time, but once you figure it out, you realize that they are a SNAP.

These are both awesome. I was going to do the Snow White but I would have had to modify the sleeves because I could not understand the directions with the cutting out everything for the red to show through. But my DD changed her mind anyway.
Here is the Easy to Sew Aurora Dress from Simplicity 5835. My mom made these a couple of years ago.

Has anyone seen cotton Halloween (striped) tights? DD will not wear "itchy" tights:sad2: (She is not fond of tights at all, but I have a cute idea for a pirate but would need tights)

I know Gymboree and Childrens Place both have them. Good Luck finding them.

Alright Girls!!!

I am about to cut the fabric for DD's Aurora costume tonight. Now you got me all nervous!!! I have to other cotton things to finish and I start on Sleeping Beauty.

I have spent the morning with the seam ripper as well. Darn thing!! I managed to screw up a little purse, and a black fur cape...(don't ask):sad2:
Anywho, I moved on to my favorite material...cotton, and gave up the darn silk, satin, and fur...for now... I will post some pictures if I ever make anything good enough to show to the public.
I'm off to school, for the next three days, wish me luck...I have another exam and care plan this week!!
Yikes!

Me too! Although I have been taking apart jeans so I could applique on them. Why do they sew those things together so well? I am thinking I need some sort of heavy duty seam ripper.

Also, I made the Snow White dress last year. It was impossible to understand those sleeve directions. I emailed the Simplicity people and they emailed me back and gave me easier to follow directions. I never did finish that cape. It was too hot to wear in August anyways. I still avoid Simplicity patterns.

THis year DD has decided she wants to be Pluto! So we bought some yellow flannel. At least he will be relatively easy.

I love it! All these adorable AK outfits got me hooked, but I couldnt find any cute fabric the laast time I was at the store. Tonight is my last shot thoguh. We leave at 6am friday, so I am running out of time.

Im back. Did you all miss me or what? ... LOL!

But Anywhoo, here is the bag I just threw together with some fur, and pleather that I had laying around the house in my fabric stash. My DD loves it, so I'm happy.

If I am really quiet can I come too? :rotfl2: :rotfl: :rotfl2:

Good luck finishing your projects. Are you going for the weekend or are you staying longer?

Show Off! ;) Just Kidding! I think it's cute! I'm stealing your idea to snag a Aurora charm and stick it on the bodice!

All You going this coming week...if you see the "real" Aurora with a black eye, and a-housewife-goes-crazy-on-poor-Princess-Aurora video clips on YouTube, you'll know it was ME! Just Sayin'.

DisneyPhotoImage70.jpg

ohhh, is THAT what it's supposed to look like? ;)

How handy that Snow White is in the very same packet? Maybe I'll start a whole calico-princess collection!

She did a beautiful job! SATIN!!!! That would make it a smidgen harder. Did she, by chance, use "horse hair" in the hem, like the evil pattern suggests? I am just not going the extra mile. I'm ready to put her in pink sweats and slap a tiara upon her sweet little blonde head and dare her to whine....

I think it looks really good. I really don't like sewing those kinds of fabrics. They're just too slippery!

WOW! Those look great!

Here's to hoping dd4 doesn't see these 'cause I don't have time to add one to my list. :rotfl:

Very cute! Seriously, I HAVE to keep dd4 from seeing these. She's already told me she needs a Belle dress.

I have this same fur! I used it for a Piglet costume last year.
Nice bag, btw.
