Okay that's it for me 2nite! My poor dear sweet hubby has got to be at work at 4:30am and all this pecking I am doing is keeping him up!:) Thanks for all the laughs and Ill chat again in the am. Good nite!!!!!!!

You didn't miss us, Spongie! We're still here! I have no idea why I'm up so late. But, I just can't stop chatting with my sister. It's not like we talk very often or anything. :rolleyes1

I was sewing my wedding dress, and had to trim some threads. So, I was sitting on the couch with those little but very very pointy kind of scissors. I got up to put the dress away, and then went to sit down on the part of the couch that is the crack of the cushions (because that's the kind of NICE person I am, I took the rotten cushion crack part of the couch so no one else had to!). Well, no sooner had I plopped myself down than I LEAPED right back up! Oh my gosh, it really really hurt! I ran upstairs to the bathroom (we lived in a tri-level so there were only 7 steps) and tried to look in the mirror to see what the heck had happened! It was in the cheek part of my bum, in case you were wondering! It was Heather I believe who found the scissors in the crack of the couch. This was about a month before my wedding by the way. So, my Mom takes me to the doctor, who LAUGHED while she was stitching me up! ACTUALLY LAUGHED OUT LOUD as I lay there with my butt exposed to the world while she stitched it up! She said, "I don't have to be very careful, because really, who is going to see this?" To which my Mom (hmm, what was my Mom doing in there with me?) replied, "Well, she is getting married in a few weeks, so someone WILL be seeing it." Which only made the doctor laugh more. (jerky doctor)

So, there you go, the story of the scar on my butt. I also have a Zorro shaped scar on my leg from the time I ran into a tractor. But, that is another story.
:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: Somebody is going to owe me a keyboard, that is the second time today I spit my diet coke out on it from laughing!

[!

This is what I've been working on... PLEASE give me some advice for some pants!!!!!!! This is an outfit for her first birthday!

And I know Im not suppose to post pics of my DDs but she hid her face in this pic so I suppose its okay!! Shhhh dont tell daddy!
th_ry-4.jpg
SORRY this pic is sideways, but apparently my computer likes it that way and I cant fix it!
Any advice would be great! TIA
I think a cute little pair of pants with a ruffle on the bottom would be great. I'm about to purchase the Rosy Gauchos pattern on YCMT and I think they would look great with this dress (I think there are lots of similar patterns to this from McCalls, Simplicity, etc.). Fantastic job! The YCMT patterns are expensive but I figure if I use them a couple of times for each of my girls it helps keep the cost down. As far as saving any money:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: I figure learning to sew has cost me a fortune! I broke my Mom's 15+ year old Singer and bought the new Brother one from Costco, the patterns, fabric obsession/addiction I've developed, thread, ric rac, etc. and I definitely think that I could buy clothes for cheaper! Oh well, my DD's look so cute and I love the fact that DD2 tells people I made it for her (even if it's something I bought, she doesn't get that Mom didn't make everything!). The looks on their faces when they get to twirl in a skirt make it all worth it.

hehe, sorry about that!

I think it's so sweet how everyone says good night before signing off. So here I am - Good Morning Everyone!

Thank you so much for the great ideas! I think I may make some pants rather than jeans because she is not walking yet and that may be a little more comfy for her to crawl in! And I think sometimes the outfits you make can be more expensive but the ones I like are on ebay for like 50-100 dollars and I can SURELY make them for less than that! So I think it all evens out in the end and your children are soo cute in customs!:)

Okay, Let me just say how extremely sweet, helpful and generous the people are on this board!!!!!!!! I am in awe of the generosity I have been shown by people who don't even know me!! I want to say thank you to EMAIL FAIRY!!!! You are so sweet and generous! I just wanted to say THANK YOU again for all of your help!!!! I am literally almost in tears over the kindness of the people on this thread! :sad1: That is why there are so many new people joining and I want to say that even after my Disney trip I will still be on this thread! I am not leaving!!!! I mean come on I am sure that we will be going to Disney again soon, right?:confused3 Well, I just wanted to thank everyone and let them know how wonderful they are! Now that I have gotten all sappy I am going to give you a run for your money on that sappiest award!!!

I think jeans with a ruffle at the bottom would be perfect! That is such a cute dress! Oops, I didn't see your post, I mean I think pants would be perfect! Whatever you decide, she will look beautiful!

Heather's Minnie Dot Fabric-

I have an idea. If no one has claimed it here is my thought. Send the fabric to me and I will make a dress for a winner. You can collect names and randomly select someone. I will then make a dress for a lucky little girl. If it is okay I would love to do this especially since Heather did something really nice to surprise my girls. I would like to pass the kindness on.

LMK what you think.

You are the sweetest: that's why I like you!

YES!! Meet up between May 3-May 17!! I'd really like to meet some cool Disers! I've only met one other Diser at WDW. We were in line to get on the bus at POP. She had on a t-shirt I recognized from the Disign board, so I asked if she was a Diser. First she looked at me really weird and then she said she got the design off the disboards. But, she didn't want to have any more to do with me. :confused3

This is all I have to say about that: :snooty:

If I saw you in the parks, I'd run up and give you a big hug!

Of course you would, you're her sister! Two comments for you:

1) Thanks for fessing up about the scissors accident: I was trying not to laugh the whole time reading it. Although I was thinking that you were mighty lucky to hit just your butt cheek: it could have been a lot worse!

2) Megan and I went on the Jungle Cruise this past Disney trip. You know, the hokey one where they tell the corny jokes (it's one of my favorite rides). Megan totally did not get any of the jokes but later that day (and at least once a day from now on) she tells me, remember how funny that girl on the jungle safari was? She said she cracked herself up! And then she told us to duck! Twice! She was so funny, she cracked herself up! She will go on and on and when I volunteered in her class, I hear other kids say they crack themselves up and I know where they got it from. :rolleyes1

I know how you feel. We are a one income family also, only I have 4 daughters. My husband flipped when I ASKED if I could buy a pattern from there. LOL! Lets just say "gotta love the $.99 sale at JoAnns and Hancock.

I know! 10-15 dollars for a pattern is alot! Especially when I have to try and justify it to my hubby! If you haven't figured out we are a one income family! And with TWO GIRLS that is sooo hard!! I always want them to be dressed sooo CUTE! Hence the reason for teaching myself to sew!!!:rotfl:

Okay, by "I knit" what you should have known that I meant is I taught myself to knit just under a year ago and stick to one color and basic shapes. I did have this great cloche pattern which forced me to use circular needles and was doing a bang up job until I got close to the top and I THINK I needed to switch to double point needles??? I dunno, the pattern called for both and never specified switching to DP needles, so I figured you could use either....then I got all screwed up and lost the marker and long story even longer I now have to knit it over again.
SO yeah intarsia??? it ain't gonna happen. I have dreams of being a fantabulous knitter...I'm still working on it. So swiss darning seemed like a plausible alternative. right?? (plus if you go on craftster and search stirling one skein cloche, that's the pattern and if you can help in anyway LMK...it's for my gatsby halloween costume!!and I'm totally subbing some merino wool) I have this great hat pattern for Lily too, it's actually a lace pattern and it will be my first but I am DYING to try it.. it has little holes for pig tails to come through-how clever!!:cutie:

...t.

I taught myself right at about a year ago too, cool! I am mildly obsessed though, ha ha. I even started a local knitting group.
I know the hat you are talking about. I totally drool over those, I want a felted one. I just haven't found the yarn I want for one yet. Yes, you need to switch to dpn's all you do is when the knitting won't reach all the way around the circular anymore (because of the decreases) you switch off to dpn's. Don't be intimidated they are easy, you just have to ignore the needles you aren't using.
You haven't ripped it out, have you? I wouldn't worry about where your marker is. Just pop a new one in and keep going. It really only makes a big difference in keeping track of your decreases, so if you aren't that far, just look towards the bottom where your tail is and put one in on that side of the hat. (Did that make any sense?)
The other hat sounds cute, is it Knitty's Piggle (I think that is the name)? I remember thinking that one was adorable.

4!!! princess: ccxxxxxxxxxxxxxI can't imagine! It is sooo hard with girls! Everything is just so darn cute!!!! And yes, I do love those sales! I got a flyer from Jo anns yesterday saying Butterick patterns are on sale thru Sat for $1.99. Unfortunately we dont have a Hancocks! :sad2: Idont need to go however because I will want more fabric!!!:rotfl: c
Sorry about this but Rylie is helping me type!:confused3

I was working on a dress for my dd5 to wear in our family pictures Sunday last night and I got to the point where I was just making one mistake after another. I have a hard time sewing when my concentration is not 100%. I am kind of a perfectionist (not in the way that stuff comes out perfect, just in the way that I am never completely satisfied with my work;) ), so I had to step away last night!

I really dislike getting family pictures taken!!!! I always get ideas about what the 4 of us could wear and then I never find everything and the pics never happen! My nephew is starting a career as a photographer so I really need to make this look good for his portfolio. I'm off today to get some odds & ends and then I am home and back to work!

Here is a link to the pics. he's already done for us. Go to the blog and scroll down to Riley and Drew. I'd love some outfit ideas if anyone has any that they have done or seen for black and white family pics.

I'm so glad that you posted his website. I have seen that picture of the girl in the striped sweater is some publications here and it has always stopped me. I looked through the 435 mag here and he was interviewed but they never listed his studio's name or address. We are thinking of having black and white pics done for our blank living room wall.
The b and w that I have seen and think look great everyone is wearing long sleeve black shirts and jeans. It really makes it so the people's faces stand out. I'm sure your nephew (you must have a seriously older sibling) could offer some suggestions.
Does he offer discounts to Dis'ers? :)

Good Morning

I was up wayyyyyyyy to late last night, it was about 2:30 when I finally called it a night. But I got alot done- I cut all the patches, sewed the long tiers and sewed the first 2 tiers together. Then I pinned the the third tier to the second tier and pinned the top hem pocket for elastic, I'll have to wait a awhile to get back down to sew it up. But it WILL be done today!!!!

That means I'll have a outfit to share tonight or at least by tomorrow morning yay :yay:

I logged on here at like 9:30 but between getting some joe:surfweb: PM's, catching up and ducking the boss I haven't had a chance to post....

That's AWFUL...I guess it goes to show that there are people who go to Disney and there are people who visit the Disboards and then the are DISERS If I saw you at WDW, I'd give you a big hug too, I'm a hugger:hug:
