I posted a few pages bag about my stinking machine/ruffler combo. I have a kenmore sewing machine, about 10 yrs old, and just bought a ruffler foot for it. I tried it out and the blasted machine keeps jamming, the thread keeps pooling up underneath the foot and it just jams. Any advice as to what I am doing wrong? I have 12 days left till our trip and wanted to do my skirt before I go.

Sincerely, Lori a very frustrated sewer right now

This happened to me as well yesterday! Make sure your machine is threaded correctly. For some reason, my thread slipped and I didn't know it! Once I rethreaded- everything was a okay. Hope that helps!

no i don't hate you ...people either love him or can't stand him...:flower3:
Or think he is a piece of cheese. Yes, my DBIL kept asking us who that piece of cheese was -- we couldn't figure it out -- then he said "you know .. . that piece of cheese that lives in the pineapple" Oh----- SPONGEBOB. (In his defense, DSis and DBIL have no children.)

Ok, please be kind. I just found this thread and wanted to post pictures of some Cinderella dresses I made for DDs:

WONDERFUL -- I AM SO IMPRESSED WITH THE GUYS ON THIS THREAD- - (would any of you mind talking to DH -- maybe he'll give it a whirl too).

Not sure I can help -- very novice sewer here -- but I did just buy a ruffler foot too and had the same problem --- after much frustration - I loosened the screw on the right side of the ruffler foot -- this solved the problem for me.

OH boy I might start something here but, I have a link to a pattern where you can make baby shoes. They are similar to the Robeez type shoes.

Here is a flickr group with some cute finished products.

Oh my, I LOVE these! I guess I know what I'll start making now. I have quite the collection of cute things now to make for a friend who is about to have a baby though, hoping for her first girl! She has 3 boys and I know a girl would just make her year. :)

Well I broke out the suitcases today. I have 6 lined up in the guest room! Way too many!

My question is: how do you pack all these "boutique" clothes? Anyone know a good way to pack a tutu so it won't wrinkle? And a Snow White costume? And dresses, do you just fold them up neatly?

Any tips would be great!

Thanks to everyone who helped find pictures of Christmas Belle!

It was very thoughtful of everyone to take time out to find the pictures.

I cannot tell you how excited I am go back to WDW. We went when I was very little and I do not remember anything. It was my dream my whole life to go . Taking my girls in June was better than the dream I had when I was little. I am happier that I got to see the magic of Disney through the eyes of my DD's. I would not have had it any other way!

So, the fact that we get to go again is so super cool! I told DH about the Halloween party. He said maybe we could do that next year! So I am really hoping Free Dining overlaps with the MNSSHP.

Thanks so much to everyone who gave me a hand!

I mentioned it before . . . I used ziploc gallon and two gallon bags. Everything fit beautifully. When we got to the hotel I just unpacked those items right away. Tutu's you can hang in the bathroom to "steam."

On the baby wipe cover- It's the directions, I tried to follow them exactly step by step, but I could not line up and pin to sew the large side with the flap to the smaller side without a flap. The sides and bottom would not line up. It'd be easier it sew a square to a triangle. So after doing it 10 different ways, I cam e up with my version. But it ended up too small for both a wipe container AND a pull-up. I trashed all but 2 finished products out of sheer frustration.

Now, the project I'm working on now is VERY clear in it's instructions.
And the instructions don't assume you know much, which is GOOD.
It's the How to make a button down shirt into a toddler dress!

I am recycling my DH's Mickey Camp shirt (I did feel bad cutting it up). So far I haven't had any questions or problems with this project!

Here's that link if any one wants to make an easy dress:

I love Florida State (as long as they're not playing LSU, that is). I'm a big fan of Bobby Bowden. Please post pictures of Delaney's outfit. I'm making several LSU outfits for DD but I've had a rough time finding purple and gold fabric that isn't too gaudy or too grown up looking. I need a cheerleader shirt to match a skirt and I've been looking on Voldemort at painted and embroidered, but I'm not 100% sold on anything I've seen so far.

I'm not even looking at the smocked Disney stuff. I have to shop for fall/winter now :rolleyes1

I went to Bridal shower at his home once when I was still in College, it was the highlight of my 4 years!!! He's a lovely man I'll be so sad when he retires.
I'm going to PM re: the cheer shirt.

Here is the front of the movie cover

And someone has this on :wizard:

I thought she wore red but then all the pink pics popped up....We don't watch alot of princess movies yet.....

Packing for Disney....I'm jealous. You could try a ziploc and then blow air in to make it poofy. Of course this takes up room but it's how I pack bows to keep them from getting squished...It will steam out though or you can iron them just use a towel between the tulle and the iron.....tedious but it works.

I love Disney as we all do...Loved it my whole life but the first time I took my son I cried like a baby when we hit main street...I cry every time I take my kids. I still remember the first time they were old enough to be excited about it and my 2nd son spotted the castle from the bus.....Lord the tears rolled. And once we found chip and Dale all by themselves and they spent 20 minutes crawling around the floor w/my oldest...Lord I may cry just thinking about it.....My husband always makes fun of me when we pass under the "walt Disney World" sign driving in I'm as excited as any 3 year old...Bouncing up and down and snapping pictures.

I'm sure I'll cry again when we take my daughter for her 1st trip in April.....

Did you roll the clothes or just lay them in the bags? I was reading that rolling saves room and they come out with less wrinkles.

Thanks!

Well, it wasn't easy for me the first time either. For some reason the pattern instructions told me to sew around the whole thing not just the top piece when I put the 2 fabrics together. And guess what, I couldn't turn it right side out! That was about 11:30 one night. The next morning, the instructions changed and said to just sew around the top! I just don't understand why the instructions wanted to mess with me like that!;)

WOW - we have the same instructions!!!! I did the same exact thing!!! It was such an irritating thing too!!!

We're big steeler fans here - at least on sundays

Saturdays are another story - we have Florida State and any team thats playing Florida (that's DH) we also have Miami (Thats me) and I'll root for Florida when needed. I just finished up an "ultimate baby set" for the BIL & SIL it's a Florida Rag Quilt, Burp Cloth, Changing pad, and diaper case... thinking about covering a wipes container to get rid of the rest of the fabric I have!!!!

I'm getting ready to start packing too! I'm so excited and I know I will overpack. You should have seen what I took to China for two weeks. I was over the luggage weight limit on the way TO China!

My dh asked me if we were going to have to take two cars to carry all of Gracie and my stuff to Disney!:rotfl2:

Thanks!

I did the ziploc trick on last year's trip for DD. I put a complete change of clothes in a ziploc bag (outfit, undies, socks) and sat on the bag then sealed it. I did not have a problem with wrinkles doing it this way. Now with the boutique outfits and costumes you could put tissue paper in between the layers and that should help. For DH & I I used the Space Bags. DH rolls his clothes, so the rolled clothes went into the bags, then I rolled the air out. Once we got to the resort and in our room, we opend everything up and put them in the drawers. I did take a bottle of the Downey Wrinkle release but did not need to use it.

HTH!

And here is my princess... My mom worked hard on the costumes, I really appreciate her...

I'm glad to see some other football fans- and a U MIAMI fan :cheer2:

I went to UM, so of course I am a huge football fan. Luckily I was there during the good years and national championships.

My DH is from Arkansas- hence the screen name (they were better last year so the hogs got the nod)

And I work for the U of Maryland, so we're going to the game here on Sat. I made DD a bow with ribbon that has footballs on it and some red ribbon too. It's cute. SHe does know how to make the U symbol with her hands and how to call the hogs!!!

On a sewing note, I almost finished my nemo dress for the coral reef dinner, but realized last night I didn't have orange thread. Do you all buy lots of colors just to have, or are good at remembering to buy it when you buy the fabric?

Another question- what do you do with leftover material? SInce I don't know what I'm doing yet, I've bough way more than I need.

Happy Friday
April

Wow, you all have been very busy! It's hard to keep up anymore.

Great outfits! I've only made a halter and a Halloween skirt so I'm pretty much still just a buyer.

I am so sorry about the loss of your precious little ones.....
 Thank you. It's been 10 and 11 years, but I think about them every day.

Jasmine needs someone to knit her a sweater!!!! Must be hot in "Agrebah" in the winter. Bless her heart.
Now, you've just gone and made me laugh! I can just imainge you knitting her a sweater and then presenting it to the poor little thing on your next trip! :rotfl2:

GO DAWGS!!!!!!!!:cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:
Yes, we are a little football crazy here! Here are 2 pictures of my DD and DSS at Picture day when DD was 18 months old. She was terrified of dogs, but any good Georgia fan takes their child to picture day. Sorry for the awful pictures, they are from the newspapers. The big one is from the front page of the Athens paper.

Now won't that be cool when she is a student there in 12 years!

Oh, the poor baby! But, oh, that is pretty funny! :rotfl:

Did you check out any of the Ruffler foot tutorial videos in the bookmarks? I would also make sure everything is hooked up just right. I hope you get it working, they are wonderful! Did you buy the right ruffler foot for your machine?

Dare I suggest you look at the bookmarks site under shoes/socks :rolleyes1
I think I've also put some in the baby section. I keep thinking I'd love to make some, but I really don't have anyone to make them for! :confused3

Funny you mention the National Championships - we are having casual day for a cause today and we could wear our college shirts - I have on my 2002 Rose Bowl Shirt!!! On the back it says "Everything's coming up Roses"

You could make a VERY simple rag quilt using the scraps cut into squares (they should be 4" square or larger though)....Makes for a neat quilt!

Aimeeg, we saw Belle at MVMCP a few years back and she was wearing the burgundy/gold dress. DS wouldn't have his picture taken with her, so sorry, no pic.
