Now, the project I'm working on now is VERY clear in it's instructions.
And the instructions don't assume you know much, which is GOOD.
It's the How to make a button down shirt into a toddler dress!

I am recycling my DH's Mickey Camp shirt (I did feel bad cutting it up). So far I haven't had any questions or problems with this project!

Here's that link if any one wants to make an easy dress:

I love that dress. Here's some pics of the one I made from it.

I can't get the pics to work for some reason. I'll try to figure it out later. I need to go work on the house some for tomorrow's party.

Yes, thanks for asking. We used the code. I priced out the weekend through disney online, the code and AAA. Room pickens was slim! We ended up at the All Star Sports. We have little girls so I was a little bummed but I think it will be fun.

We stayed at POP and I was very worried. The rooms are small in the values, but really YOU ARE AT DISNEY so who cares!!

Well, it wasn't easy for me the first time either. For some reason the pattern instructions told me to sew around the whole thing not just the top piece when I put the 2 fabrics together. And guess what, I couldn't turn it right side out! That was about 11:30 one night. The next morning, the instructions changed and said to just sew around the top! I just don't understand why the instructions wanted to mess with me like that!;)

Oh that sounds like a conspiracy theory1
Thinking about sewing for this trip . . .

Does anyone have pics of Belle's Christmas dress?

I am bidding on this outfit, search voldemort for
Bubblytoes Boutique Custom *Rose Princess* Applique Set

Might give you some ideas too. Just don't bid please!!!

She has a darling Christmas Mickey themed outfit listed as well...ouch!!!

I posted a few pages bag about my stinking machine/ruffler combo. I have a kenmore sewing machine, about 10 yrs old, and just bought a ruffler foot for it. I tried it out and the blasted machine keeps jamming, the thread keeps pooling up underneath the foot and it just jams. Any advice as to what I am doing wrong? I have 12 days left till our trip and wanted to do my skirt before I go.

Sincerely, Lori a very frustrated sewer right now

My machine will jam up sometimes when lint down in the feed-dog/bobbin area gets caught in the stitching. It will continue to stitch but the fabric won't move and the thread & lint become a big ball that makes it very hard to get the item out from the presser foot area. I sometimes have to remove the presser foot so I can lift the fabric enough to carefully snip the threads so I can get it out.

What I do when my machine is being a PITA is to take off all thread and the needle, clean and oil the machine following the instructions in the owner's manual, put in a new needle and then rethread. 99% of the time that solves the problem. I really should clean my machine more frequently so I can avoid the jams but...

I hope that helps!

OH boy I might start something here but, I have a link to a pattern where you can make baby shoes. They are similar to the Robeez type shoes.

Here is a flickr group with some cute finished products.

Thanks for sharing that link! I think I may make a pair to match an outfit I'm making in a 3/6M size.

Wow, that is so cute and a great way to recycle... even if the original owner isn't done with the shirt yet. ;)

So has anyone tried making matching hair clips?
My DD is 16 months so I need to use the little alligator clips- I think someone said they found them at Sally's?
Can you point me in the direction of some hair clip instructions?
Everyone's creations are so beautiful. I am hoping to get my new machine out this weekend and get sewing. You all are very inspiring.

Okay ladies and Gents (we have more than just Tom now so I get to say Gents :cool1: ) this is OT but along the lines of Secret Santa and postcards -

I live in Alaska, and I think I'm the only one on this thread up here. I live just 15 miles from the town of North Pole, Alaska. So if anybody wants I can send postcards to their kiddos from the north pole just let me know. I do this every Xmas for family and friends in the lower 48. All I ask is that you send a postcard to my kids in return. If anyone is interested just let me know. Also, if you want a letter sent to your kids from Santa with the North Pole postal stamp you can send me the letter, I'll repackage it and send it out. Just some ideas for you guys. :santa: :santa: :santa:

I'll also post this again closer to Xmas if I remember. Just an OT idea for you all :dance3:

any or all input is welcome...i really need to start picking up around the house, :laundy: & all that good stuff...we have company coming tonight from chicago & st. louis...tomorrow we are all going to cedar point...i got some fabric from joann's today that has the peanut characters on it, which is cedar poin'ts theme characters...you can do breakfast with them too just like disney...so anyways i am going to try and do up some more jeans like the ones above so they can wear them tomorrow...i thought it would be cute...

OMG!!! We are going to Disneyland next month! Dh just decided we should go and I am busy booking now :) :) :)

They are celebrating Haloween when we get there so I am thinking of a pirate outfit for the two girls. Are they hard to make?

Any other suggestions of fun things for the girls to wear, three days total for a 2 and 5 year old.

Help!
we are also going to disneyland next month and doing mickey's halloween time party:woohoo: we are going as a family of pirates .pirate: i have made my dd 6 her outfit, and it was pretty simple check out these patterns Mccalls MP221 or Simplicity 3680 (i used this one and am jazzing it up a bit) hope this helps:cutie:

oooh. I just saw a little Cinderelly dress on voldemort! Its the pink one Cinderella wore that the mice fixed for her (it had been her mother's special dress) along with a strand of blue beads, just like in the story! I won't bid on it because I think I can make one (if I have time) and I want someone else to have it.

WHY didn't I think of that! I love the dresses of the princesses that aren't "the Gowns" like Provincial Belle (a few pages back) and the working dress of Cinderlla and the Briar Rose dress of Aurora.

i just looked, that dress is adorable. What a great idea to make the different princess dresses. DD is only 2 so no princess dress this year (she'll be Minnie Mouse for Halloween) but next year - all holds off.princess:

Here is my Minnie skirt for MNSSHP. I look weird but, it was the best picture I could get today. :confused3
OH and I wanted to add I decided to not wear the tulle underneath. I looked like a house.

But we are crazy about our KC CHIEFS :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: (although our season hasn't started out very well.)

Whew, glad to get that off my chest.

Go Chiefs Go! I love the Chiefs! I've been trying to convince my husband that we need season tickets! I think I've got an uphill battle though, especially since we live in Texas... LOL

On the baby wipe cover- It's the directions, I tried to follow them exactly step by step, but I could not line up and pin to sew the large side with the flap to the smaller side without a flap. The sides and bottom would not line up. It'd be easier it sew a square to a triangle. So after doing it 10 different ways, I cam e up with my version. But it ended up too small for both a wipe container AND a pull-up. I trashed all but 2 finished products out of sheer frustration.

Oh no! This is on my list of things to try. I better keep the seam ripper handy![/

Last year's Halloween costume... He loves Jack Sparrow ha!

That looks so good! Great job! :)

We've been super busy the past two weeks and there's no way I can catch up... just wanted to say that everyone is doing such wonderful things! Keep up the good work!

(I have made a minnie dot tulle thing... and while I had lots of trouble following the pattern... i think its cute!)

Here it is:

Edit: Oh Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand... Zoe is having a minnie birthday party this year.... so I made these: Although my husband says to do away with the sparkly letters... :)

Ignore the funny shaped Mickey Head... my daughter made that one.. I'd make the others for the actual cards... (he's a little funny looking...)

WOW - we have the same instructions!!!! I did the same exact thing!!! It was such an irritating thing too!!!

We're big steeler fans here - at least on sundays

Saturdays are another story - we have Florida State and any team thats playing Florida (that's DH) we also have Miami (Thats me) and I'll root for Florida when needed. I just finished up an "ultimate baby set" for the BIL & SIL it's a Florida Rag Quilt, Burp Cloth, Changing pad, and diaper case... thinking about covering a wipes container to get rid of the rest of the fabric I have!!!!

:cheer2: :cheer2: Yea....another Seminole!!! :cheer2: :cheer2: Love to see a pic of your baby set

I'm getting ready to start packing too! I'm so excited and I know I will overpack. You should have seen what I took to China for two weeks. I was over the luggage weight limit on the way TO China!

My dh asked me if we were going to have to take two cars to carry all of Gracie and my stuff to Disney!:rotfl2:

I thought you were due to go soon.....Can't wait to see pics of Gracie in all her gorgeous outfits......

Alligator clips can be bought at Sally...You can buy 100 for about $5. Check RABOM or Ribbon Retreat online for ribbon (can also buy hardware as well) Ribbon cost will be alot less than local with a much better selection.
