In between takin care of the youngins, and doing dishes, laundry, making beds, getting ready for school, etc I sewed a couple of things.![]()
Next, is the first-day-of-preschool dress. I am making the same one for my older DD today and tomorrow. I changed the bottom by adding an extra panel and it made it good and twirly! It was New Look pattern #6688 and was VERY EASY! All the fabric was from JoAnn's.

I know I should add a ruffle or something at the bottom but I measured it and its 9 feet. I would have to ruffle 18 feet or more of fabric. Ummmmmm not today....and tomorrow isnt looking good either![]()

That was a blast...ok back to sewing!!!!![]()
We have the same machine!I am looking for a ruffler foot for my NEW brother 6000i. Does anyone know what kind of foot I should be looking for? Do I need to buy it from Brother? I asked at Joann's but they looked at me like I had 8 feet. sticking out of my head.

(3 min for the new sewing machine!)
THANKS!!
utah - will you make some matching bows for you and Norah so I won't feel so weird?![]()
I know I haven't been around the thread in a while, but I was hoping someone could help me troubleshoot a problem I'm having sewing elastic.
My machine is the Disney Brother SE-270D. When I sew elastic, the bobbin thread won't turn and the bobbin thread snarls and tangles up.![]()
I've asked my mom about it, and she has no idea why it does that. She said she has never seen a machine do that.
I've read in the manual and I've been using the stitches recommended for sewing elastic. I'm getting very frustrated, and I'm afraid my machine will break. I've been having to hand stitch my elastic together, and I don't like doing that.
Please help me! Has anyone else had this problem?![]()

stephres - it's ok. we'll still like you even if you have weird taste.![]()
I'd also like to clear something up..
I am an idiot. Just ask anyone, I've professed it more than once. I had confused the Blue Pooh Toile that my Joann's had but didn't when I wanted it and the ever popular Purple Cinderella Toile from Hobby Lobby- which is what I really wanted.
I have had several ppl pm who had 1 or the other (if not both) and have successfully struck a bargain for said material. Thanks to everyone who offered to help! I would also like, in the vein of helping (cause I keep asking for "stuff")... to say that I have I think 2 yards (possibly 3) of the blue mickey camo w/ the red in it. like this one if you can see it
[/IMG]![]()
So if anyone can use it pm me, cause my plan for it fell through.
...t.
I had an idea...
you know how there is the photobucket link with all the pictures of our creations? What if we add the pattern number as a caption? Then it would be easier to CASE? Just an idea...
Please don't look at the messy hair. It has been a bad day here, but I don't want to go into that. Also the dates are wrong on the pics, because my camera won't keep the right date on it.
The first is the dresses I made for last Sunday on my old machine. The second are dresses I made on my new machine for promotion Sunday (My youngest moves out of the preschool class and into the elementary class.)

Cute! I hope your oldest's foot is ok.
mommapooh - with fiends like Utah, who needs enemies?![]()
mommytoe - Great job! Hope your day gets better!![]()
Cute, I love that smiley fabric!
Aww adorable.
Thank you. It is more a bad day for my friend than it is for me to be honest. She emailed me this morning to let me know her dh died.
I am still trying to figure out how to tell my youngest, because she miss him.
Hi All. I'm new to this thread - but I'm really enjoying it. HAs anyone ever done anything with a Mulan theme? I'd love to embellish overalls or something for my niece with her favorite character.
lisa - as always, your work is stunning!
teresa - Great use of the toile! I just bought eeyore's pooh toile cuz I couldn't find it here -
I'm going to make me a skirt.
we'll see how it turns out.
I might look like a freak.
mommytoe - I am so sorry! Your family and your friend's family will be in my prayers.
Gotta Twirl!!

Actually, I think that this is just another example of how mean parents can sometimes be to their kids! HOW could those people KEEP their kids away from it. They are the ones that are wrong! Besides what's one day of school...aren't there like 179 more?

It's funny you should mention that. I just noticed on our library website that they're doing a "Fancy Nancy" day and I'd never heard of the book. It sounds cute!Hey girls! I was just listening to /watching Martha Stewart and she had a Childrens book author on her show. This author has written AWESOME book(s) called Fancy Nancyand it's sequel involving the neighbor's puppy!. If you have a dd who LOVES to accessorize and glam up, and never settles for plain ANYTHING This would be a wonderful choice! I can't wait to get my hands on this book. I love the illustrations!
I think whenever we have anything over-the-top glitzy and girlie, we should call it "Fancy Nancy"....hee hee
All of these are great! My favorite is the Nemo dress.
Yup, I was going to say the same thing. I got that e-mail a few years ago and checked it out on snopes.com.I think that's an Urban Legend that floats around cyberspace. If you go to the URL above for the Do Not Call list, there's a disclaimer about the rumor.
It says "Watch Me Sparkle". I've got this same fabric and it doesn't sparkle.Cute!
You guys did a great job.
What does the Ariel fabric say?
I love that idea! From now on, I'm going to be MOM*, too! I almost died when my son was 5 weeks olds (abdominal blood clots probably helped along by labor), so that qualifies me, right? But your family should be eternally grateful. You should always have an asterick next to your name (MOM*) so people have to ask you what it means and you can tell them..."well it was Star Wars, and some disrespectful child of mine had the nerve to think it needed to come early after I was smashed by a 16 wheeler while trying to save a Harp Seal from the evil beaters, and I MISSED the first showing of Star Wars by being so unselfish!" Yep that about sums up the asterick!!!
None. Oh yeah and when you pay for dessert at a restaurant...it costs so much for ONE slice because they take all of the calories out. Didn't you know that is why restaurant desserts and Thrashers are so expensice? geeze
BEWARE the jousting competition!Aimee, it looks beautiful. I hope for your daughter's sake it isn't as hot as they are still calling for, at least the back side of faire is shady. As long as you stay clear of the jousting field (which us diehards refer to as the Serengheti) you all should be okay.
LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!! Very fancy Nancy!
I think they look great!! I especially like the black and red one!
Yup, my kids are always better dressed than I am!My girls get asked this all the time....almost daily...Yes I overdress them...but it's better to over dress them then to see the snobby mother perfectly done up with full make up, perfect clothes, and her designer purse of the week, and see her poor little one looking like they crawled out of the garbage can...it's so sad when parents don't take pride in their childs appearance..![]()
My neice (who's turnig 3 next week) LOVES this book and totally relates...only she calls it Bassy Assy![]()
How cool! We don't know any other Tessas! Thanks! I do think they look alike. Must be the blue eyes. I also have a Tessa too. It's my 10yo step-daughter. I think it's such a pretty name.
Have you sent an e-mail to your walmart about the fabric departments closing? Yours could be next!!!One eye opener for me in watching this thread is the lack of fabric stores. Even 10 years ago I had a choice of 5 different stores, plus Walmart...now all I have is Joann and Walmart in my area.
You people have got to stop posting these first day of school pictures! I have a year before I have to let my baby go and I'm already crying about it!My little baby girl is now a school kid!![]()
I wanted to say 'hi' to all of you since I feel like I know you from reading this massive thread. Your beautiful designs have converted me. I broke out my mom's sewing machine and she and I used it for the first time Tues.
Okay, where is said picture!?!Ok, I am WAAAYY behind because I was making a FABULOUS princess dress yesterday.
I keep meaning to post how much I appreciate all of the work you do on the picture site.Wonderful idea, but there is no way I can do that for all the pictures. I barely can keep up as it is. If anyone wants to help add the pattern numbers on the site I am more than happy to pass on the user name and password. Right now dh is gone for the Army for 2 months, I have three kids, watch more kids, and can barely walk around due to horrible morning sickness. Ah, thus is life
