I went to the You Can Make It website and all I saw was a bunch of videos on how to sew. Is there a store on there for other stuff? :confused3

There are lots of instructions for all kinds of boutique style clothes. they come in the form of ebooks. Lots of cool things there.

Wow it is beautiful! Great Job! Is she going to wear it for halloween too? I love the sleeves. Or she is going to be Meghra?

Thanks!

I am not sure. She keeps on changing her mind. She wanted to be Belle but I told her she had to be something with sleeves so her answer was Sleeping Beauty has sleeves:cutie:

When we where in NYC we bought the Sleeping Beauty dress. It is supposed to be for Halloween. Let's say she has only wore it a couple of times. She has also wanted to be Dorothy. We will see because she will come up with ten other things. I would love for her to wear this one because it is really warm. DD calls it her Maid Marian dress. Too Cute!

Meg is going to be really cute but we are in the mid atlantic and it is too cold at Halloween. She dresses up in some costume everyday so it will not go unused. I have to finish her Sock Monkey dress and then I am going to do Meg.

Here's the result of my first twirl skirt attempt. I bought this basic tank to go with it - but now I'm not sure if I like it or not. What do you all think? What kind of top?

I really like the combo of colors you used. I also like how there a ruffles on the tank! You should be very pleased. I know I would be!

I know I haven't been around the thread in a while, but I was hoping someone could help me troubleshoot a problem I'm having sewing elastic.

My machine is the Disney Brother SE-270D. When I sew elastic, the bobbin thread won't turn and the bobbin thread snarls and tangles up. :confused3

I've asked my mom about it, and she has no idea why it does that. She said she has never seen a machine do that.

I've read in the manual and I've been using the stitches recommended for sewing elastic. I'm getting very frustrated, and I'm afraid my machine will break. I've been having to hand stitch my elastic together, and I don't like doing that.

Please help me! Has anyone else had this problem?

We have a sewing machine store here, The Sewing Machine Doctor, and I had asked about this machine previous and the Brother Rep happend to be there. He said they never should have made this machine, but Walmart wanted something cheap and it's exclusive. Apparently this a problem with the machine and the reason you find a gazzillion of them on Ebay.

Okay, time to share once again. Don't laugh at my applique, I'm not nearly as talented as most of you ladies (and gentleman) on this board.

   Well now...that is just amazing...don't you love the back-to-school fabric? I love all of your appliques. That was a lot of work cutting all those colors out and stitching them on...TWICE!! I have two little ones a year apart but they wear the same size so its kinda like sewing for twins! You did a really great job! I am making a twirl skirt for October and I am trying to decide if I should do a panel or a patch-work. I really need a ruffle foot if I keep this pace up! Anyways.....GREAT JOB MOM!!!!!!! :thumbsup2 I should say you did a FANCY NANCY JOB of it!!!! :yay: :yay: :yay:

Lisa-

Without giving away any of your trade secrets would you mind giving some pointers for first time applique? What are some of the things that would have been really helpful to know when you started? Also, are there any really good sources or guides on applique?

Thanks- Aimee

All the talk about the Brother Disney machine doesn't sound good. Is there more than one Disney machine? Or is the one at WalMart the only one?

Hi All. I'm new to this thread - but I'm really enjoying it. HAs anyone ever done anything with a Mulan theme? I'd love to embellish overalls or something for my niece with her favorite character.

I haven't, but I had my eye on a peice of mulan fabric I wanted about a year ago. It was a satin like fabric, maybe 2 yards. It went for over $300, at the site that mus not be named.

Teresajoy, are there any spiral twirl skirts in your bookmarks? I didn't see one but there is just so many amazing things on there, I might have overlooked it. Thought I'd check if anyone had a free pattern before I bought one on ycmt.

Can I vent for a sec? I have been messing with that blasted Disney Brother machine all day and my friend had the nerve to tell me I was a slacker because I have not made it to the gym today.
Sewing counts as a work out, right? I mean my heart rate was up there today!! :yay:

You outfits and the appliques are AMAZING!! I especially love the crayon border ruffle - SO darn cute!

The skirt absolutely has full-on horizontal potential. Did you use tapered or rectangular strips? If they are tapered how much difference between the top and bottom of the strip?

They were "A" shaped tiers. The top was 2 inches and the bottom was 6 inches. This worked for me for a size 4 in little girls. Hope that helps you. And thank you everyone for the compliments.

I only know of 2 others. I have a PED180, I think it was around $400. They discontinued the machine and there is a new one that is alot bigger and I priced it at $1700. This was last summer. The rep told us on the Walmart machine, something with the bobbin breaks and it can't be fixed. I was in the process of buying a new serger that day. I went back about a month later and got the Disney machine. That goodness I didn't wait! It was the last one since they just got in that new model.

Ok everyone, on the pillowcase dress. How hard are they to make? Is there a pattern. I wasn't for sure if I like them, but I found a cute one on ebay, and trying to decide if I should buy it, or try to make it. I have two girls, and they like to dress alike.

I don't know if the colors are showing accurately on the computer, but I love the tank you have with it. The skirt is really cute and the ruffles on the tank tie everything in together. Great job!

Ok, I just KNOW you are all dying to see what I created last night :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: Right? Ok, so you aren't, but I'm going to show you anyways!!!:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

I have been thinking up this outfit since June, and finally got around to making it! I didn't have a pattern, so I'm pretty proud of myself! I guess it's an original Teresa Creation! OOOOHHHHH!!!

Ok, I'll admit it, I'm killing time waiting for my pictures to upload to Photobucket. Why is it so slow today??

While I'm waiting, I'll comment on an outfit that I seem to have missed.

I love the preschool dress! It is absolutely adorable! I love the little bus!

Ok, photobucket is 50% done...... I have DSL, this shouldn't take so long....

Did I mention??? I SHIRRED!!! YEP, I SURE did!!! I want to add one more row of shirring to the bottom of the top, I don't like the way it kind of sticks out funny, and I think another row would help fix that.
I made the top too short too begin with, so I had to add ruffle to it to make it fit right. But, I really like the way the ruffle looks, now that I've added it. I would have liked it better if I had made the top longer, THEN added a ruffle, but this will work for now.

75% done, GEESH! Maybe I should do a load of laundry while I wait! :laundy:

I almost forgot, I also want to add some purple bows to the gathered parts of the skirt. But, I didn't have any purple ribbon, so I need to go get some.

OOOH, I think it's done!!!!:cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

Here we go....

Gotta Twirl!!

Thanks for looking!!!

I had Arminda try this on, and it fits her too! Gotta love shirring!
That's really feminine and pretty! Great design and super cute model!

We have these books too! I love them because they are glittery and my NAME IS NANCY!:woohoo: My dd loves to read them.
My MIL is Nancy and really likes them too :goodvibes . The illustrations are just too precious.

Okay, time to share once again. Don't laugh at my applique, I'm not nearly as talented as most of you ladies (and gentleman) on this board. I do try however, and my girls like it, so I guess thats all that counts (at least thats what I keep trying to tell myeslf). Sorry there is so many photos, but remember that I have twins. The 2 back to school sets are a lil different so I posted both. I only posted one of my twirl skirts for Halloween, however I had to make 2 for my twins. I'm still working on the matching shirts for Halloween, but will post with the twins in the entire outfit when I get the shirts done. I will also post ONE photo of the twins together in their BTS outfits on Sept 5th when they goto school for the 1st day. Thanks, enjoy!

I can't imagine why anyone would laugh, they look great! I really love the Halloween twirl too.

I have to say that I regret buying the Brother Disney SE-270D also. :guilty:

I thought a machine with the Disney name attached to it would be high quality, but I feel like it is cheap, flimsy, plastic CRAP! When I sew on bias tape around armholes, the machine makes a pounding sound. :scared: It does the same thing when I try sewing through several thicknesses of fabric. :scared: :scared:

My mom has a Singer from the 1970's that she bought when I was 3. She is the one who taught me how to sew, and I learned on her machine so I had a feel for what a machine was supposed to do. Her machine sews through several thicknesses with ease, and it doesn't sound like it is about to break in half!

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: the pounding sound...it sort of does resemble jack-hammering....
My conversations go like this...

Mom-sewing happily away (jack hammering)
Kids-What's that noise?
Mom-What?
Kids-Mom!!!, What are you doing in there?
Mom-What?
Kids-Mom...can we turn the tv up?
Mom-What?
Kids-MOM!!!... You're scaring the cat....He just peed on the floor...:lmao:

Wonderful idea, but there is no way I can do that for all the pictures. I barely can keep up as it is. If anyone wants to help add the pattern numbers on the site I am more than happy to pass on the user name and password. Right now dh is gone for the Army for 2 months, I have three kids, watch more kids, and can barely walk around due to horrible morning sickness:sick: . Ah, thus is life :lmao:

:grouphug: :wave2:

Just thought you needed a hug!...Get better soon...Morning sickness is the pits...

We have the same machine!
Use the low shank ruffler foot! That is what I have and it works GREAT!
:dance3: :dance3: :dance3:

You're so lucky your dd can wear sandals to school. My dd goes to a public school with a strict dress code... It's so hot here in Florida I really hate putting shoes and socks on each day..I feel sorry for her.

I did this one for DD in Spring. I really like to do some of the characters that aren't the ones people typically think of for Disney.

Gosh...Your appliquing has me beat!! That is gorgeous..Especially the eyes..

I don't think I will be online again for a few days. We are off to Playhouse Disney Live tomorrow, 2 nites at the All-Star Sports, One day at Sea World, and One day at MK (maybe)...
And on Tuesday I have a huge exam, so Tuesday morning I will be studying...
I'm sure when I get back online, there will be 10,000 posts to read!!
Have a great weekend everyone!!!
Sew something for me...:rotfl:

Great Job! Love the twirl factor - looks like DD loves it too! I have to say - I vote ruffle on the bottom - LOL - don't hate me!:goodvibes
Yes, I agree but I think I need a ruffle foot...I have been talking about it and its time to really look into it! Thanks for the compliment! :cloud9:

This is really brilliant! I love the chalkboard with her name and the twirl factor if great. It would look really cute with a bottom ruffle. But only if you want to! :flower3:
Thanks Steph! I didnt come up with the chalkboard idea but I sure can copy good!!! :rotfl2:

While I'm waiting, I'll comment on an outfit that I seem to have missed.

Thanks about my dress. I just love the princess dress you made...excellent job!

Thank you. It is more a bad day for my friend than it is for me to be honest. She emailed me this morning to let me know her dh died.

I am still trying to figure out how to tell my youngest, because she miss him.
I will pray for you and your friend and families :flower3:

I did this one for DD in Spring.

I just love looking at your applique work up close...Wow! It is so perfect! :cloud9: I love your colors and fabric too!

Have you sent an e-mail to your walmart about the fabric departments closing? Yours could be next!!!

VERY cute!!
Our Walmart never put in a fabric department when it opened this July. I should take you up on the offer and mention that we need a fabric dept here too. The nearest competition is an hour away. :rolleyes1
Thanks Heather about the dress for DD!

Here's the result of my first twirl skirt attempt. I bought this basic tank to go with it - but now I'm not sure if I like it or not. What do you all think? What kind of top?

Wow great job! I love the color combo! I think the tank looks great just like it is!!!! :thumbsup2

Ohhhhhhhhhh ok I was wondering what all the fuss was about! Thanks!!
