I am sooooo gonna case that minnie twirl!! maybe add more greens for our trip at xmas!
Lori

I was thinking the same thing!!!!!!!!

I went to JoAnns yesterday and bought more fabric for our Disney trip. Once I get something completed, I'll try to post. And I'll try to respond more but I'm actually at work, and can't read this board all day
April

Oh, and for the record, I love Harry Potter and Star Wars!

:welcome: April!! For a second, I thought you were my cousin! I had to read your post twice, then realized you're not in TN! :)

I know I haven't been around the thread in a while, but I was hoping someone could help me troubleshoot a problem I'm having sewing elastic.

I have no advice for you as I've never sewn with the elastic, although I bought some and it just sits on my sewing table! But I wanted to say "how the heck are ya?" I've been wondering about you!!!

I know I haven't been around the thread in a while, but I was hoping someone could help me troubleshoot a problem I'm having sewing elastic.

My machine is the Disney Brother SE-270D. When I sew elastic, the bobbin thread won't turn and the bobbin thread snarls and tangles up. :confused3

I've asked my mom about it, and she has no idea why it does that. She said she has never seen a machine do that.

I've read in the manual and I've been using the stitches recommended for sewing elastic. I'm getting very frustrated, and I'm afraid my machine will break. I've been having to hand stitch my elastic together, and I don't like doing that.

Please help me! Has anyone else had this problem?

I have the same machine and I hate it. I can't get it to do anything at all. It barely runs a straight stitch. I've had it for about 2 weeks now and I really regret buying it. I think I may just return it. Castle Creations said that she got a wonky machine and returned it and now her new machine runs fine. It does the same thing to me when sewing elastic. My $70 Brother was a better machine than this machine. Sorry, not any help, but I sympathize.

All I can do is beg you to accept me for who I am. Yes, I hate Harry Potter! I would not read it if someone paid me. (I did see the first movie and I know it is not the same.) :rotfl2:

I guess I should just get it off my chest - I do not like Harry Potter, Star Wars, Star Trek, Midevil times, or okay wait for it American Idol!

Please let me still be your friend. I know I am not the only one!:flower3: :flower3: :flower3:

She's just kidding, right? :sad1:

I guess it's ok.
I don't like reality tv AT ALL!
There. I said it.
I hate it all! I've been watching DesignStar because one of the guys from my church is on there (sparkle Josh) but he got voted off on Sunday, so I'm done watching it.

You are too funny! I have been to several of the SW weekends. Just for you:)

starwars.jpg

ack! that's a scary ewok! do they have any of the cute and fuzzy ones there? I'd like to go for star wars weekend sometime. I'm not an obsessed fan, but I loved the movies.

I also want to go to the soap opera weekend sometime - Tammy is a HUGE all my children fan.
Like we used to fight when I said Dixie was selfish.
Heh.
It's a CHARACTER, Tammy!
But even I was sad when she died this last time.

camping - I love those bows you got!

I'm going to try my hand at bowmaking this weekend. I'm kinda scared.
I'm hoping the ribbons I got will look good together.

And - umm. I'm making matching bows for me and Jeanie.
How cheesy is that?

We planned this trip back in July. Don't you know it was cold and rainy most of the three days we were there. We did sneak into Dutch Wonderland. The girls wore their dresses I made them. Ironically the princess's name was Brook...same as my littlest DD. Here are the pics:

What a nice park to take younger kids to. Much fun was had by all!

In between takin care of the youngins, and doing dishes, laundry, making beds, getting ready for school, etc I sewed a couple of things. :surfweb:

First is a great red polka dot twirl top for my friend's daughter. The fabric was thick and stiff and really nice to work with. I put a black polka ribbon around the top. It took up at least a 1 1/2 yd of fabric with all those ruffles! I also made her a little matching bag.

All I see in the pics is a bunch of red dots...it is much better in person!

Its hard to tell but the neckline of the front ends at the black ribbon. I lined it with the same fabric so the back of the dress pops up behind it.

Next, is the first-day-of-preschool dress. I am making the same one for my older DD today and tomorrow. I changed the bottom by adding an extra panel and it made it good and twirly! It was New Look pattern #6688 and was VERY EASY! All the fabric was from JoAnn's.

I know I should add a ruffle or something at the bottom but I measured it and its 9 feet. I would have to ruffle 18 feet or more of fabric. Ummmmmm not today....and tomorrow isnt looking good either  :rotfl2:

That was a blast...ok back to sewing!!!!

We've been good. I dropped out of the thread because it just moves too fast now. I really just don't have time to keep up with it, and I get frustrated having to keep notes on where I left off. :headache:

I'll try to drop in from time to time with new pics. The Wiggles outfits are finished, and we are all ready for Sunday's show! :)

Right now, I'm working on a Minnie dot outfit. I'm in the middle of it, but I took a break to make the girls another bandana outfit. The bandana outfits from YCMT.com are so simple that I can do them in a day.

I want to post pics of the Wiggles outfits, but I cruised ebay for inspiration. Since all the ebay seller drama that was on the thread, I'm afraid to post pics because I don't want trouble from the seller. :guilty: In summary, I want to post pics, but I'm not because I'm not interested in having drama.

I love the hoody! Your son is a doll!! Of course, he reminds me of my little guy- do you see a resemblance?

:lmao: I totally agree!! My DD wears her fancy dresses everywhere we go and she's always getting asked if she's going to have her picture taken. My nieces have been known to wear gymnastics outfits to the mall (and they've never taken gymnastics) and princess dresses to church.

Ok, I am WAAAYY behind because I was making a FABULOUS princess dress yesterday. Well, that and doing laundry, since it wasn't raining (dryer broke). But, this was the first post I saw today  and I thought , "What in the world did Heather do to make Sawyer look old in his picture???" I was seriously confused for awhile, thinking, "Man, it's only been a week since I saw him, how could he look so much older....." Then, I see that it isn't Sawyer, but someone elses adorable child. But, boy, for awhile there I was SERIOUSLY confused!!!

And, yes, my girls have been known to wear gymnastics and ballet outfits to the mall. And, princess dresses frequent our religious meetings! You know, it's really weird the amount of people that ask, "Oh, did you just get out of gymnastics class?" JUST becasue a child is wering a leotard! :confused3 :confused3 :confused3 (3minimum):rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: (also 3)

I called my mom, and she helped me troubleshoot it. She still didn't understand what I was talking about because she has never seen a machine do that. She had me try different things like loosening the thread tension, etc. Finally, she told me to try lengthening the stitch, and that was it!

For anyone who has the Brother SE-270D, use the two point stitch lengthened to 3.0 for sewing elastic together. This is for sewing together the ends of elastic for a waist band. :)

Heyyyyy, you're right, Celery! That is a very creepy e-wok!

What a cute, fearless, little girl! How so very brave she was just seconds before this e-wok went ballistic from the flash of the camera......

stephres - it's ok. we'll still like you even if you have weird taste. ;)

hogsfan - welcome and good luck on your first projects!

I think I'm converting the first dress I made Jeanie into a skirt.
cuz it doesn't fit her right.

for some reason, I can do skirts fine for her and shirts fine for me, but vice versa doesn't work.
well, I havven't tried the skirt for me yet.
I will this weekend.

twob4him - I love your daughter's school dress!
what is dutch wonderland?

I have to say that I regret buying the Brother Disney SE-270D also. :guilty:

I thought a machine with the Disney name attached to it would be high quality, but I feel like it is cheap, flimsy, plastic CRAP! When I sew on bias tape around armholes, the machine makes a pounding sound. :scared: It does the same thing when I try sewing through several thicknesses of fabric. :scared: :scared:

My mom has a Singer from the 1970's that she bought when I was 3. She is the one who taught me how to sew, and I learned on her machine so I had a feel for what a machine was supposed to do. Her machine sews through several thicknesses with ease, and it doesn't sound like it is about to break in half!

utah - will you make some matching bows for you and Norah so I won't feel so weird? :rotfl2:

I like my disney machine.
I've only bent one needle, and that was from trying to go through 5 layers of fabric.
I just handsew when I've got lots of layers.

I bought an embroidery card on voldemort and it doesn't work?
it says my hoop is the wrong size.
how do I know if this is a real error or if the card is wonky?
heh.
wonky.

But your family should be eternally grateful. You should always have an asterick next to your name (MOM*) so people have to ask you what it means and you can tell them..."well it was Star Wars, and some disrespectful child of mine had the nerve to think it needed to come early after I was smashed by a 16 wheeler while trying to save a Harp Seal from the evil beaters, and I MISSED the first showing of Star Wars by being so unselfish!"

Yep that about sums up the asterick!!!

Yeah, I'm using an asterisk from now on.:thumbsup2

AMY- She's ADORABLE!!!! I may need to borrow your wand!

TOM- YOu continue to astound me! and maybe you could give a Bow making webinar!

I'd also like to clear something up..
I am an idiot. Just ask anyone, I've professed it more than once. I had confused the Blue Pooh Toile that my Joann's had but didn't when I wanted it and the ever popular Purple Cinderella Toile from Hobby Lobby- which is what I really wanted.
I have had several ppl pm who had 1 or the other (if not both) and have successfully struck a bargain for said material. Thanks to everyone who offered to help! I would also like, in the vein of helping (cause I keep asking for "stuff")... to say that I have I think 2 yards (possibly 3) of the blue mickey camo w/ the red in it. like this one if you can see it

So if anyone can use it pm me, cause my plan for it fell through.
