Kids Disney Boutique / Customs Clothes Part 3

I got an e-mail that a scrapbooking site is going out of business and they do have the Mickey buttons. They're $2.39. Just thought I'd share in case anyone wants some. (and, no, it's not the site that took forever to send my my buttons last month)

The round part of the button is about 1/2" on the small buttons and 7/8" on the large buttons.

Great for crafts or outfits.
I just bought these at Walmart for $2.88.

Is this the kind of top you're asking about? I've made tops like this one with faux ribbon lacing up the front. The back is shirred to make the top look fitted but it's a great style since it is very flexible for fit.

If that's what you're looking for or close, I'd be happy to explain what I do to make it. I don't use a pattern but I think I could explain well enough to get your started. :)

Absolutely gorgeous!

Okay, here are the pirate sneakers I made my DD last week. She is not into the cutse and frilly stuff...but keep in mind, she's a teenager, so I have to go with that! :sad2: I just painted white leather sneakers from Walmart black and then applied the skulls from fabric I bought at Joannes and then sealed the sneakers with a glaze. We bought pirates laces and now she's all set. We tried black and red rhinestones for the eyes in the skulls, but it looked better without them, so we figured less was more in this case. I think DD is going to wear these with her pirate costume for MNSSHP. Thinking of making a pair for myself now...not sure...we'll see.

These are fantastic...What did you use to seal them. I made shoes to go with the kids of the world outfit, but haven't sealed them yet...please help...

Theresa, I like the Pooh top. I'm about to use my Pooh fabric to make a test outfit for DD. It's on sale at Walmart now for $2 so if I mess it up I don't feel bad buying more ;)

Tom, cute outfit.

KeepMovingForward, I love the shoes!

Lisa, both of those tops are absolutely gorgeous and it's so nice of you to share your instructions.

I used fast dry tacky glue to decoupage the fabric on and then when that was all dry I sprayed the shoes very lightly with clear glaze spraypaint that I found at the craft store. Very simple. ;)

hi -

okay - i would love to try making a pair of the cool patchwork pants - but how do you match all the fabrics? i got a cute pair of pretty plain jean capris for my neice and would love to make them extra special for our disney trip.

when i was at walmart today, they had a purple princess fabric, but the princesses were pretty bit, they also had the purple ariel fabric which was cute - no minnie fabrics or pooh fabrics that were cute - where else can i look?

suggestions on simply doing my first pair, and how to match fabrics would be awesome!!!

im also interested in doing ribbon pants for my teen neice...are there directions for them someplace?

thanks, wendy

Gorgeous, please explain how to make the faux corset. My mom is making one of these for my DD for the cruise and I think this would be a more flattering style for her!

FYI - I had to make some quick changes to my illustrations for the main instructions for this top because I had the measurement lines labeled incorrectly. I think they should be correct not. :flower3:

IF it's the slightly dark-ish RED sheer with 1/4" white dots, that you are looking for = there's quite a few yards at ninth street wallymart. =) ...
I still have yet to see the red&large white dots anywhere near here ... there must be somebody else scoping out the MINNIE FABRIC, other that us three! ...
No, sorry. It wasn't me in hobby lobby. :sunny:
I had a bad experience there, last christmas, so I refuse to grace them with my presence, unless it's absolutely unavoidable. :snooty:!! (*I'll ONLY go there IF : I run out of Wonder-Under & NO ONE ELSE in town has it, OR they have a 50% off fabric printable coupon on their website.* "boycott with fabric-addiction exceptions"*)
UPDATE ... at the Plainwell store = There's not any red&big white dots (I got the last 4 yards, sorry  )
but There is several yards of the red sheer with little white dots ...

ATTENTION ALL FABRICOLICS :
(*CLICK ME*) HOBBY LOBBY's ONLINE COUPON

is 40% off any one regular priced item!
THAT INCLUDES a BIG, LONG PIECE of FABRIC
 ...
That's good 8-6 to 8-11-07
sadly, it does not include any custom order that you request, though :confused3

BEAUTIFULWhat a great choice of fabric and pattern!!!!!:thumbsup2 :goodvibes I like the added ribbon and it looks beautiful on. I am glad to hear that someone else had some problems with the pattern. I thought it was just me since it was my first one but it drove me nuts!!!! I guess now I will try another pattern!!!!

Thanks, Lisa, you rock!

Here's my latest "project" for back to school.

I am not sure if I like it or not.:confused3

Sorry about the hair do. Princess was out playing all day and was getting ready for bed when I tried this on her. You can't tell, but her jammies are on underneath this.;)

My first try at "gaucho" pants. My wife decided that she likes the pants alone with just the blue top. And the tops with maybe just a plain pair of brown pants with maybe a ruffle out of the coordinating fabric.

I think this outfit is GORGEOUS! You truly amaze me!

Here are the basic instructions for a top like the one shown a few posts back of my Snow White set. I included some simple illustrations for steps I felt might be the most confusing. I wrote the instructions assuming the person will know how to shir fabric with elastic thread and also do other sewing techniques. I would suggest trying this the first time using fabric you're not going to really miss if your first attempt doesn't work as planned. ;)

I didn't go into details about creating an appliqued panel like I had on my Snow White set nor adding a faux corset ribbon lacing like in the photo below. If anyone wants those details, I can explain that next. LOL This version also has a ruffle at the top front that isn't described in the instructions... but it shouldn't be too hard for most to figure out. :)

I was in JoAnnes and asked for Wonder Under, they keep it behind the cutting counter. 2 of the women there asked me what it was. And one of them was the asst store manager!
Heeehheee ...
Another great example of US knowing more about sewing, than the people working in these stores ...
like ... one time, last year = a Jo@nn's STORE MANAGER told me that "there's no such thing as ELASTIC THREAD! I know EVERYTHING WE SELL HERE & there's no such thing!"
I politely said "it's what you do shirring with. You wrap it on a bobbin & sew with it, on your machine. Like the little sundresses we had as little girls." ...
She got huffy & snorted at me "I don't know what THAT is! But I know for a fact, that you can't run elastic through your sewing machine. You HAVE TO sew elastic TO the fabric with thread. Our elastics are all over there." ...... grrrrrr :headache:
I finally found it in the notions area, hanging on a peg wall. I POLITELY showed it to her & that the package says "ELASTIC THREAD" (I made sure to be NICE as I did that, though) then I turned it over & showed her the back = INSTRUCTIONS on HOW TO SHIR with elastic thread ...
geez ...
She YELLED at me (as if, she just could NOT possibly be wrong) "well, THAT's a notion, NOT a thread! Since it's in the NOTION SECTION, and NOT in the THREAD SECTION." ...
I just calmly turned around & walked away. argue+brick wall=silly ...
I only showed it to her, IN HOPES that she MIGHT remember it, IF anyone ever asked where it was, in the future. NO sense in someone else getting treated that way, just for asking, ya know?~! I'm pretty sure she won't forget that incident very easily.
FYI = There's another brand/CLEAR in their crochet/knitting/yarn area, too ... heheeee :rolleyes1 and they had pre-shirred fabric, too! :cool2:

I would like to share some pic of dresses I made but I can't load the pictures can any one offer me some help?

Well I have finally finished reading through this thread. My minds racing with ideas. I have some pm's to read through on techniques! Thanks everyone for your help. I've made one shirt and plan on shopping for some material to make some more. I will definitely post some pics when I do.
Now if I can just stay caught up. LOL:surfweb:

I believe you have to have a certain number of posts before you can post images or links. I don't know the number since it's been so long since I had to wait. ;) Once you can, you just need to have the photos loaded to a photo host, like photobucket or another web page, and then you can share. :)

:flower3: Thank you so much i just love all the cute clothes all you ladys have posted. I cannot waite to get that good at sewing. With 3 girls ages 6 and 2 I need to be creative.

THOSE LOOK GREAT! :cool2:
You can also try (*CLICK ME*) FABRIC MOD PODGE, too ...
There's (*CLICK ME*) MOD PODGEs for everything & various finishes = matte, satin, glossy

(*CLICK ME*) Jo@ann carries some kinds

I'm told that the FABRIC version reeeally works well on shoes, purses and many other wearables, even Tshirts :)

+ There's (* CLICK ME *) OMNI-GEL for Photo-Transfers ONTO FABRIC ...

Even people that don't sew could make fabulous creations with this stuff! :sunny:

I think you have to do about 15 posts to be able to post pictures. Another member suggested that I go to the Community Board and post on the thread where people were wishing other members a happy birthday. I wished 15 DISers a happy birthday, uploaded some pics to photobucket, and I was able to add them to a post.:yay:
