Ok, I'm finally going to reply after stalking all of you (and your great clothes) for awhile now and obsessing about how I can make these outfits fit me.

I've never wanted kids till I saw these clothes! (Don't tell DBF!)

I have been teaching myself to sew and you guys are an inspiration. I've made 2 dresses so far for myself and I think that they look great (and I would actually wear them out if I had an opportunity!)

My Disney trip is planned for Jan so I need some cooler weather ideas (for adults). Anyone have any pictures or any great adult patterns that are semi easy that I can disney up?

I can't wait until I'm in NY and can get to a bunch of fabric stores... I have Jo-Anns and Walmart. Maybe we should do a fabric swap??

I see it but I just tried to upload some simple illustrations for the instructions and photobucket is doing maintenance. That might be why it isn't showing. Once I can upload the illustrations, I'll post a link to a practiceboard with the instructions. I think that might be easier than trying to put them in a post on the board. I think I have all the steps listed and explained so a moderately experienced sewer can follow them but once they're available, please don't hesitate to let me know if I missed anything.

Here's the shirt I finished for Arminda last night/this morning. She picked out the ribbon to put on. At first I wasn't sure about it, but I think it turned out pretty cute. I didn't like how low the shirt came in the front, so I added a little piece of fabric so Arminda wouldn't have to worry about exposing herself!

This was a fairly easy pattern, but I just had one problem after another with this one! First, I couldn't find the screw to attach my presser foot. Corey had used the ruffler attachment on the machine earlier, and had misplaced it. I found one, and was set to go, or so I though. Then, I couldn't get any of my machines to run right (then I decided to check the bobbin tension, adjusted that, and now they sew beautifully!!!), several other stupid mishahps (sewing back to front on backwards, facing didn't fit right, needle was lose after Corey used the ruffler, it came lose and bent, etc..) and then, I went to sew the skirt on, and realized I had cut the fabric out upsidedown!!!! Upside down Poohs were not going to be ok! So, I made the seam allowances smaller and cut it out again, using the same piece. Then, when sewing on the arm facing, I caught up the shoulder seam. I'm STILL not sure how I did that. Whilst using the seam ripper, I accidentally stabbed a small hole into my leg. Be careful with those things!

Now, these things would not be so annoying if I was a beginning sewer, but GEESH! I've been sewing for quite some time now! Oh well, except for the leg thing, it all turned out ok!

First of all, I really like the modesty panel you added! And it really did turn out cute despite the "If you give a mouse a cookie" type drama to make it come out just right! Thanks for telling us the drama(s) of it coming to be! Now I feel like I'm ok!

Is this the kind of top you're asking about? I've made tops like this one with faux ribbon lacing up the front. The back is shirred to make the top look fitted but it's a great style since it is very flexible for fit.

If that's what you're looking for or close, I'd be happy to explain what I do to make it. I don't use a pattern but I think I could explain well enough to get your started.

Yes, this is similiar to the style. I do know how to shirr, even though sometimes my machine doesn't like it, but any help on how you do the front would be greatly appreciated. Thanks a bunch, Lisa

My first try at "gaucho" pants. My wife decided that she likes the pants alone with just the blue top. And the tops with maybe just a plain pair of brown pants with maybe a ruffle out of the coordinating fabric.

One question, how do you search for the appliques on the auction site? All I get to come up are the cheapie iron ons, or the electronic designs. If any one knows of any sellers please pm me!

Tom, Once again your work is just beautiful! I love the pants and the idea of it with a plain shirt. Now you can make a couple different outfits with these two pieces and some basics---just like gymboree (I am a gymbo addict as well .)

I got an e-mail that a scrapbooking site is going out of business and they do have the Mickey buttons. They're $2.39. Just thought I'd share in case anyone wants some. (and, no, it's not the site that took forever to send my my buttons last month)

The round part of the button is about 1/2" on the small buttons and 7/8" on the large buttons.

Great for crafts or outfits.

Very cute! I think the top would look really cute over brown leggings. I always like to have straight or fitted pants with full tops and vice versa.

Here are the basic instructions for a top like the one shown a few posts back of my Snow White set. I included some simple illustrations for steps I felt might be the most confusing. I wrote the instructions assuming the person will know how to shir fabric with elastic thread and also do other sewing techniques. I would suggest trying this the first time using fabric you're not going to really miss if your first attempt doesn't work as planned.

I didn't go into details about creating an appliqued panel like I had on my Snow White set nor adding a faux corset ribbon lacing like in the photo below. If anyone wants those details, I can explain that next. LOL This version also has a ruffle at the top front that isn't described in the instructions... but it shouldn't be too hard for most to figure out.

Okay, here are the pirate sneakers I made my DD last week. She is not into the cutse and frilly stuff...but keep in mind, she's a teenager, so I have to go with that! I just painted white leather sneakers from Walmart black and then applied the skulls from fabric I bought at Joannes and then sealed the sneakers with a glaze. We bought pirates laces and now she's all set. We tried black and red rhinestones for the eyes in the skulls, but it looked better without them, so we figured less was more in this case. I think DD is going to wear these with her pirate costume for MNSSHP. Thinking of making a pair for myself now...not sure...we'll see.

Gorgeous, please explain how to make the faux corset. My mom is making one of these for my DD for the cruise and I think this would be a more flattering style for her!

For anyone who has the Brother 6000i, where on earth is the straight satin stitch?! I can't for the life of me figure out the number or find it in the book. I found the wavy one but would love to figure out the straight one so I can applique.

I have the brother CS6000i and I used the 04 zig zag setting and adjusted the stitch width. And viola, the perfect satin stitch! There's also a nice "applique stitch" #41 and 42.
