Okay, any Little Einstein fans out there? This was a long planned, long discussed project for my daughter. The help I got on this was amazing. One of the frequent posters here sewed the jeans and top. Her work is amazing, and I actually got teary eyed when I saw everything. She truly went "above and beyond" to make a little girls 3rd birthday PERFECT!!!

All of them are absolutely stunning! Such inspiration for myself who was planning a much simpler LE outfit. You have a very lucky Little Einsteins fan!

What a great outfit, love the skirt on the overall! Great Picture!!!!

And on the last pic, is that black rick rack around the mickey head?
So cute!

Thank you for sharing your pics.

So funny . . .

Tonight my DH did not feel like doing his homework. No he is not 10 he is in graduate school. So he hung out with me in what he likes to call my crafting" cage." (A woman at a craft show had a cage like structure that she painted ash trays while her husband worked the floor!) I call it the Art Room.

I set up one of our desks as a sewing desk. I bought a thread holder and hung it up tonight. I even started a desk top sewing basket with my little gotta have notions. I brought down my antique sewing supplies lion. Those little girls better not touch it! I already saw Hannah eyeing up today.

My husband saw the two dresses I made and was talking to me. He giggled and said they were really cute. The one with the camo Mickey- he said Aimee the smocking is beautiful. I in return said thanks hunny bunny but thats ric rac. At least he has been half way listening. I pulled out my practice smocking. (I did more tonight.) He was amazed that was done by hand. He thought the sewing machine did it.

I then started to show him my idea book. I was working on my Crystal Palace outfits and all of a sudden DH starts telling me all the sewing terms he knew. I think he said hem, elastic, sewing machine, felt, and smocking. He was really proud.

I showed him some other fabric I had. Like for Mickey's BBQ and Ohano's. I did not dare pull out my real stash. That has the 15 yards of minnie dot. I am trying to decide what to do for Hollywood and Vine. I pulled out my three choices I already had and said I just can't decide. I do not know if I want to do a random Mickey outfit or Jo Jo specific. He told me he likes when the girls match and we both agreed the girls are not Jo Jo crazy. He said why don't you just make all three.

I was like they have two outfits for each day! Not to mention princess costumes. He said no biggie- some days they will have three, kissed me on the forehead and went to bed!

BTW- he even sat through some of the photobucket link!

See, this is why we just want to adopt you into our family....:rotfl2:

I'm sure my family will tell you that I rarely sew for them. I did make some Backyardigans overalls for a great-nephew but that's about it. Zoe's the one who suffers the most from my need to design. Unfortunately, she's getting to an age where she wants to wear "normal clothes" like her friends. :sad2:  :sad1: :( Of course she decides this while she still fits the Snow White twirl set, Ariel capri set, Belle twirl set, Mulan capri set and several princess tees I've made not to mention that I have Jasmine appliqued on a piece of fabric waiting to be made into a top. :headache: Kids... you've got to love them... or they wouldn't survive childhood. :rotfl: (I joke, of course. ;))

I've been multi-quoting for several pages now trying to get caught up. So, I hope I can remember what I wanted to say about each one:

...take your Hancock ad to Walmart! The match ads!!!!!

I did this tonight, only got three, but it saved me $18!!!! I'm searching the McCalls website now and making a list of what I want to get over the weekend!

One more question about the scrapbook embroidered embellishments. I have a TON of them in my scrapbook stash that I'd like to use. How do you attach them? Do you sew through them? You don't just stick them on, right? I would think they would fall off? I'd like to whip those bad boys out and use them!

I sewed mine on, but I think someone suggested using the E6000 (I think that's what it's called) to glue it down well.

Tnmom and others – I haven’t started working with my tulle yet. Don’t scare me!

And I have a confession.
I spent 19 dollars on 2 yards of fabric yesterday.
It has celery on it.
For me to make a shirt for our DIS meet.
How dumb is that?

Well, if it helps, it wasn't the tulle that was the problem. It was just the fact that I pinned it to the wrong side of the skirt!!!! BTW, it's still lying in the sewing room floor waiting for me to fix it!

Next time I'm in Franklin, I'll be on the lookout for someone wearing a celery shirt!!!!

Have y'all SEEN the pirate sheer fabrics? OMGosh!

I saw that, but don't have a clue what I'd use it for!

Here's a photo of just some of my stash.

Anyone else get the feeling that this is why we can't find the fabrics we go searching for? ;)

I used nemo blanket binding on the bottom hem.

I've almost bought that binding several times, but haven't yet. I like it, though, so I may get some tomorrow! I love your dresses!

hearing that makes me soooo glad I'm not married
Haircut-$35 dollars
Wash, condition, blowdry $25.00
Tri-tone color job $50.00
Last minute added highlights $35.oo
Tip for stylist $20.00
Not having a husband to complain about how much this stuff costs...
PRICE-LESS!!

:rotfl2: :rotfl2:

How have I missed this thread!!! After I post this I am off to view the previous pics!

Very cute outfits and doubly cute kids!

Anyone know a McCalls pattern for the apron top?

Also, can you get the costumes for $0.99?

Still not caught up on this thread, but I'm posting anyway!

TO EVERYONE: Why are you making outfits just to wear to Disney?! These outfits are cute and casual enough for everyday wear. If you put this much time and love into something, you should at least have your kids get some wear out if it!

EXACTLY what I was thinking Heather! My kids will be wearing their outfits many many many times after our trip, and quite possibly BEFORE! They are too cute to only wear once! It'll be like having a little bit of Disney World all year!

This is really great! I love the striped fabric on the ruffle. You did a fantastic job! Own up to your greatness!

Thanks so much. I have had a lot of fun! I have so many ideas. I think we will end up bringing two outfits per day again. Granted some of those will be princess costumes!

I am just trying to get everything organized. I need a good plan soon so I can start to work and soon as September hits I will have no free time boo hoo!!!

Question for the seamstress or anyone else. . .

How do you store your used patterns? I have been inspired to make a sewing only area in my Art Studio (den) at home. I am thrilled with all the ideas so far. It is nice to get my fabric and trims organized. I am so organized with all my other art supplies I do not know why I am not with this!

I iron fold the pattern up, and then iron it so it will fit back into the envelope. There is no way it will fit if I don't do that! Then, I have a box I keep them in, in numerical order, by pattern company. (Stop laughing Heather! I really do do this, it's the only thing in my house that is organized!)

Would someone please post the link for the instructions that showed how to use the zip loc bags for storing fabric?
I put the links on the bookmarks site too. It's such an amazing sewing room, I wanted everyone to be able to find it!

ok, someone posted the mickey pirate head. I too made a make shift pattern for the scarf, but have it going th other direction. Here is a pirate mickey tutu outfit I just made! It is so adorable. and for winter I though of putting black leggins underneath!

WOW, Linda did a wonderful job on that! Yes, you should take a bow!

My Joann's doesn't have any more either. I have looked at two other Joann's here around Atlanta for this fabric and another Disney fabric (the one with the dots and Mickey and Minnie) Neither one of them had it either. They sell out quick!

Our Joann's here in town had some tinkerbell and some winnie the pooh. They also had some new flannels.

I am scared they won't have anything new until spring. Hmmm we'll see.

Where can I get this fabric. My Joann's doesn't have it anymore:sad:

If you can find the number for the fabric (on the receipt or on the fabric, or beg someone on this board to send the numbers to you!), you can have your Joann's call the corporate office, and they can tell you what stores in the country have the fabric. I just did this today with my ice cream cone fabric that I needed more of. Come to find out, only 13 stores in the country have any in stock! They will ship it to you.

Well, this isn't a set I made for my daughter but here's a better view of the whole thing. I hesitated posting it just because I feel odd sharing a pic of another person's child - even if she sent the photos to me for that kind of thing. I cropped it tight so it's harder to recognize her... but I'll probably delete the image in a few days anyway.

BTW - Thanks to all who have complimented my work! I don't want to ignore those compliments but I also don't want to flood the thread with my posts of thanks. :)

That is an amazing outfit! You do really great work!

I custom make an autograph book for my DD for every trip. I am truly a scrapbooker, but hang out on this thread because I am also obsessed with custom outfits. The attention my daughter gets from the autograph books is amazing. I have had characters carry it off to show another character their page. It makes my daughter feel special and I am beaming from ear to ear!
Here are a couple of photos.

I thought that was you! I can't wait for mine, that outfit is incredible!!!!

WOW!!! That is just incredibly impressive!!! What fun that must be!!!

I just panic and shout out "5 yards"!!!!!!

:rotfl2: Oh my, you sound like me!

Your daughter is precious! The outfit is adorable!
Then I sat down and smacked myself in the head for being so foolish. We all have our own roles to play, and mine is definitely a BUYER, not a maker!
That made me laugh! :rotfl:
Great job on the kitty skirt!!! That looks adorable!

QUOTE]
Great job on this outfit! It looks fantastic!

I LOVE the kitty skirt. I have one of those fabrics, now I'm on a mission to find some to coordinate! Could you tell me the name of the stripe and flower? Thanks!

A name? (just kidding). I don't know because I used it all. But it's at Walmart next to the kitty fabric. I just love the torquoise with the pink! There's like 5 coordinating ones. I noticed some solids that would go nicely. And some sew on applique that would match....and bright pink pom poms. See what I'm turning into???

I'm sure I'll be there tomorrow, so I'll check the fabric name for ya. :)

Thank you! I think I am ready to try my hand at this again.
The quote you have is a combination of my question and a similar question Tina asked and part of a post from Nancy. Somewhere along the line our posts got combined...my dis-name and her sig but we both had the same questions so no sweat. Sorry, rambling.
Thank you very much. and what a cute pair of overalls! Love the ruffles! I think I may need ruffles...that will have DH rolling his eyes for sure  tee hee :rotfl:

It's funny but when I hit quote it didn't do it exactly right because the one I was quoting had a quote in it.

It's all the same to me though as long as you figure out what you need to know. I didn't try to mess with the fabric along the top when I did mine, I just left a little denim showing at the top and along the sides. It makes a nice little frame.

I made safari/Animal Kingdom themed ones too but I will post photos of them when I get back.

I am replying to everyone who has sent me PM's. Twenty of you and counting. Some I don't even recognize as posting here.:confused3 So many of you have been kind to me before. I actually am worried for the person, because the outfit was a "borrowed" inspiration. By no means exactly the same, and she did all of the designing herself in her computer, but... This woman is wonderful, and I got to thinking about how nasty some things have been on here and e bay. I got some snarky e mails when I bid on Castles Minnie outfit. So I posted it, but then got afraid. I'm not sure who exactly the bad guys are here. so in order to protect the seller, and hopefully keep her doing things for me:goodvibes , I took off the e bay id. Sorry if I have offended anyone. I know lots of people have been very nice to me, and given me lots of "things" incognito, but for a rare time in my life, I am actually intimidated by the jerky people!

 I am sorry you are getting pm's like this.

Nancy- I really like the denim "frame". I'm loving all the overalls everyone's doing.

Yeah, I think leaving the fabric along the top alone may be the best bet for me to.
I like them with the bandana fabric. I may need to try that. I have some in a green but the red sure pops.
Looking forward to seeing your AK ones.
Thanks.

YES! It is black rick rack. :)

Sooooo, what youre saying is that even if we adopt you and you already have ALL THAT FABRIC, that you won't be able to make us anything?

Oh I'm destined to always be the proverbial shoemaker's daughter. The story goes, the shoemakers daughter always went without shoes because the shoemaker was always to busy making shoes for everyone else.:sad2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

I'm sorry your daughter is outgrowing her love of custom outfits, but there may still be hope! My older daughter is helping me pick patterns and material. So just wait a little while. :thumbsup2

:wave2: Can't wait to look at all the new outfits when I get back!

There will probably be 100 pages!:scared:

:wave2:

Oohh, I wish I was you right now. I REALLY need a vacation! :sad1: Have a great time and kiss Mickey for me:thumbsup2 and if you can get a smooch in on Cinderella's beau, well, he's not a bad looking dude either. hehe...;)
