My Dh and I went on an afternoon date today. I told him Jo Ann's was having a sale on a lot of stuff I needed- funny need!

I gave him some choices-

1. I could go by myself.
2. We could all go.
3. I could take the girls.
4. I could take one girl.
5. We could make it a date and go alone!

He picked number 5!!!!

This was good and bad. I had company. That was nice. I could not spend too much money without hearing Sweet Jebus. Yes, he says Jebus. I had a second 40% off coupon for him and I finally I could bounce ideas off him.

He did pretty good at first. We did spent like two hours at the really big Jo Ann's Etc . . . Most of it was in line. We went to lunch and then went to another Jo Ann's because the big one was out of a certain fabric. I then took him to two craft stores to find the perfect silk roses.

The second fabric store he did not do so well because the lady cutting was soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo sloooooooooooooooooooooow. She also hummed the whole time which only made me have to pee! Anyway, with that TMI we had a nice time. He thought my ideas were pretty cool and he helped me make some good choices.

For the Christmas trip. I am making DD the Belle Christmas dress. I am so excited I got the pattern pieces cut tonight. I was going to buy a satin-like fabric because of the cost $3.50 a yard- not bad. It did not feel really nice. I told DH I wish I could get velvet but it was too expensive. He said well lets go check it out and we did. I found a really nice velvet for $12.99 a yard. I used my 40% off coupon and got an extra 10% off. I spent about $25 for over three yards. The brocade was on sale and the satin was 50% off. I am a happy girl!!!

Here is the fabric trim, and flowers for Belle.

My MIL is picking up the Alice crocs for DD.

Here is the fabric for Cinderella's pink dress. DD is going to wear it to 1900 Park Faire.

I was inspired by another DISer who makes calico princess dresses. I am doing Snow White and Sleeping Beauty for DD also. I thought these might be more comfy than the gowns she has. I just got her the Sleeping Beauty dress so she may want to wear that one but Snow White was from Target and has seem better days!

Okie Dokie, just for you Mama I will sew like the wind. Does anyone remember that from Three Amigos? I love the idea of the pink Cinderella dress. When I was a little girl Cinderella was my fav and I loved her pink dress!!!!

My DD has named everyone. She is Princess Hannah Belle, Sophee is Princess Sophia Ariel, I am Cinderella, Daddy is Prince Charming, Grammy is Sleeping Beauty, Pop is Flounder the fish and our dog Chloe is Pluto. I am not sure why my Dad is Flounder but she calls him Pop Flounder.

ETA- Calico fabric is 40% off with an additonal 10% off coupon this weekend. That is some cheap fabric!

Want to know what I did today??? Got Tom out of my dining room!!!!

We've had an old HUGE GIANT refrigerator in our VERY VERY VERY TEENY TINY dining room for TWO STINKIN YEARS!!!!. We could barely squeeze through between the fridge and the dining room table. And, the table was pushed up against a wall. We had to pull it out every time we ate, and then, we'd sort of have to climb into our seats. Fun fun. Anyway, my dad came over today and took that stinkin fridge out of the dining room!!!! WOO HOOO!!! The kids and I have been skipping and dancing through it! Although, I keep turning sideways, even though I don't have to! YEAH DAD!!

Sorry, that was WAYYY off topic. But, my fabric stash is in the basement, which is through the dining room, so that sort of brings it all back around, right?

Then, I went to Joanns and Hobby Lobby (didn't find your fabric Spongie :sad2: ) AND THE DISNEY STORE!!! WOO HOO!!! :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: They closed ours a few years ago, so that is always a treat!!!!

Yep, I just knew you'd all want to know what I did today! :rolleyes1

TJoy- I love how you managed to stay ON TOPIC.... :teacher:

Does anyone know where you can look up manuals for your sewing machine?

I have a Kenmore 385 and can't find my manual which is burried somewhere in my house :scared1:

MommaPooh217 - FABULOUS!!!!!!:dance3:

;) Hey she knows her stuff dad!!! :rotfl2: Mickey will be soooo pleased!

I love "I Can only Imagine"!!!! Great song choice!

One more question for the night. Does anyone have a hemming foot and do you like it? I hate trying to figure out hems and if I can just run it through a foot I would be in heaven!

Just had to comment. I told you I have a Hannah and a Sophie, they also call my parents grammy and pop. Too funny! :rotfl:

Ah yes.... black piping, my nemesis! I can't tell you how frustrated I was when I began.

Once I did some research and found out that the zipper foot is the best way to sew it in, I did fine.

I don't know why I have to add a level of difficulty to everything I do?:confused3

I keep telling myself KISS! Keep it simple stupid!

For some reason I don't listen to myself very well!:rolleyes1

I always used the zipper foot for the piping, but I could never get close enough to the line without moving the piping into an uneven line. Drove me nuts until I realized I could put the needle into the left position. My machine now, has a piping foot, but I'm afraid to try it. I should break down and get out the manual!!

Again, another beautiful dress!!! I'm going to have to do something like this when I get back from vacation.

Ok, I am going to attempt my first applique today  - question is....do you cut out the pattern so the pieces fit together like a puzzle or do you overlap them sewing one on top of the other so there is no gap? Does that make sense?

I overlap.

Wow Lori you really touched me. :goodvibes I just added it to my siggy! Thank you for noticing and it really is true you know...He has a plan though we don't always understand it.

You know, I just noticed this in your siggie last night also. It is my very favorite song. I even found a board book of this song for my little ones.
Every time I hear it I cry--never fails. That song just gives me goose bumps.

All the oufits are adorable! I have to comment that I looove the seller of the Mr. Mouse outfit and Pluto shorts! She did a Miss Mouse one for my daughter and also a beautiful Cinderella shirt!

:wizard: Have an awesome trip!

I adore her also. She is a doll and sooo wonderful to work with. I have many outfits done by her that are not Disney also.

She's such a sweetheart! Do you have pix of the other outfits...I don't think I've seen too much of her work that isn't Disney. Of course, I haven't really been in the market for anything non-Disney ;)

I have been lurking here forever and truly appreciate all that you do and your talent.

So I now I put my heart on the chopping block.....and admit I will never sew, do not have the patience or time!!!!

Love and respect to you all!!:worship:

Talk about an itchy bidding finger....I won these late last night. Now I have to figure out what DD will wear with them!!

Aimeeg - I LOOOOVE all of your fabric choices! I think I'm going to do a calico Snow white too! Any advice from the original designer would be greately appreciated!! :flower3: (In other words....HELP PLEASE!!!) :flower3:

Still out of town here - I only have a few minutes to post - and only read up to page 820. Loving all the creations I saw!!! I am itching to get home and get some sewing done!!!! LOL - how sick is that!!! :)

Hey!!! My Parents and Sister (and her family) live in Riverside! Do I hear little multi-cultural children singing a very familiar attraction song???? Tell them hi for me, ok? LOL.

Your dd is so cute! I really have liked all the back to school outfits and yours is awesome! LOVE it!

Well thank you made the darn dress. Then I tried it on her and it looked like it was choking her. :scared: So back to the seam ripper and sewing machine. I cut the top quarter off and traced the bib part of her overalls. Cut the fabric to the new pattern and sewed it. I added snaps to the sides so it could be more open or tight like overalls. And you can't see them but the buttons are crayons. I was a long weekend but I like how it turned out. And what area does your family live? And if I see them I will say hi.:thumbsup2
