Kids Disney Boutique / Customs Clothes Part 3

Hmm, I don't see a second listing... but it sounds cute. :) I didn't see the note that the pink dress is ripped.

I checked my photos of the Cinderella set and the peasant top is a white on cream paisley print. My photos aren't terribly good since they're mostly for my "records" but here's one that kind of shows the peasant top print better.

BTW - I added a light amount of fabric paint for the blush on her cheeks. That's the only place I used the paint and I thinned it down so it would act more like a dye and soak in rather than paint that is mostly on the surface.

Oh Lisa, your pic is so much better than the sellers, I am gong to up my bid now. I'm telling you if your pic was posted, it would be going for "mega bucks", still might I guess Again your use of fabrics is awesome!!! Thanks for your pictures!!

I am a self-proclaimed packing expert. I decided on which outfits for which days for which kids. I used 1-gallon and 2-gallon and some 1-quart sized zip-lock bags from the dollar store. I ironed and folded complete outfits and labeled the bags with a marker like Aimee did. I put the child's name and date of wear and time of day. I divided my three suitcases by the day. The biggest was for Mon, Tues and Wed. The medium size was for Thur and Fri. And the smallest was for Sat and Sun. Once in Disney, as the suitcase was finished, I put the dirty clothes in it and zipped it up. I put "kits" in the zip compartments in the top part of the suitcase like medical kit, sunscreen kit, hair kit, etc. Hairbows were hung from a hanger and put in a bag with lots of air so it wouldn't get squished. I packed three outfits per kid (3 kids) per day plus pj's and swim suits. I only brought two pairs of shoes per kid. I had two outfits per day for myself. The pull-ups and wipes went in my DH's suitcase. I also had two carryons: one with toys and fun stuff and the other with change of clothes etc. Here are my pics of packing:

I really liked this way of packing because everything was planned and portioned out ahead of time. I just doled out the zip-lock bags and it separates the clean from the dirty.

This is inspiring...just curious, what possessed you and Aimee G to take pictures of your packing? Really it's absolutely amazing! I have also read that to pack in ziplocs is highly recommended in case your suitcase is searched at the airport, they can see into the bags, and not "russle" through your stuff as badly.

O.K. I have to use that Ziploc idea, I love it. It might keep me from packing and repacking the suitcase so many times!

I just thought I'd share these. We had the kids' pics done tonight and they wore their Epcot outfits so I had to share. :)

Your children are beautiful. I love the coordinating outfits!

Thanks so much!

Yes, you see a lot of Gymboree! I mostly put the baby in gymbo and smocked dresses.

What I did was plan each outfit. Clothes, bows, and shoes. I then made a spreadsheet. When I packed I folded the clothes and bows and put them in gallon freezer bags. Next I wrote the day and or activity the clothes were going to be worn. I nestled the shoes around the outside edges of the suitcases.

For my DH and I used the same method but I used the two gallon bag. He loved it and I loved he was able to help me in the mornings when we were so tired! We stayed off site. Never Again!!!

I packed the big bows and costumes the same way. i just took them out as soon as we got to the hotel. My DD had a whole other suitcase for her costumes. I did wrap all of her crowns and tiaras (because she needed more than one of course) in tissue and nestle them bewtween costumes. It was not to big though.

Aimee, your packing and writing on the bags has totally inspired me. I do think I will just have to try this out. We are staying off site for first time at Disney ( and I am worried after reading your "never again" comment...WHY???) Last year we stayed at this same house but did all of the "other" parks, and had such an amazing time, we decided to try Disney this way. In all of my trips (maybe 15) we have never done Disney offsite. Anyway, because this house has a fantastic W/D combo, I did a load of laundry every day. So while I will hopefully have 2 outfits every day with coordinating everythingfor DD, for the boys, DH and myself, I will just do laundry. I am so used to at home having to do at least one load a day, that when we vacation, I find myself doing it as well. I could not stand arriving home with 10 nights of dirty laundry!! It would ruin my vacation.

I was looking in THAT site at all the other searches posted recently and came upon this one... custom boutique pumpkin patch overalls original design.

Look at the price...I wonder what the reserve is. No way I'm paying that for a seasonal outfit for a toddler! It's really cute though, I may have to do something like it myself!

OMG - that is unreal! Did you look at the seller's completed auctions? OMG, to those too! One lady bought the jeans, shirt and denim jacket and all 3 together cost over $1000. I would never in a million years pay that for something that could only be worn for a few months. Plus my hubby would kill me too!

Forgot to add that the outfits are amazing and super cute but I could never justify spending that kind of money on them.

I was trying to catch up before posting but I had to stop here. I had to start putting bows in DD's hair every time we went somewhere because everyone kept telling me how cute my SON was. We're in Home Depot, she has a dress on and a pink pacifier in her mouth and an employee walks by and says "hey little man." Later that same trip we're checking out and a lady tells us he looks so cute and just like his dad. We were cracking up by the time we left there.

That's not the only time, either, and EVERY time she's had a dress on :confused3

Anyway, I confess to thinking she was a he too. Your pictures were making me all misty eyed because I want another boy :rotfl: . The pictures are adorable and I bet they love their little sister.

This is exactly what has happened to us with EVERY one of our 3 boys! They can be in major sports, cars, trucks, airplane, BOY clothes and everyone says "Oh what a beautiful little girl you have", etc.....
I admit, I do dress my boys super fancy sometimes, but still, it is never pink or purple, it is always blue or green or something.
So, yes, I know exactly how it feels!:rotfl:

I got to the point w/ Evan where I'd just say 'yeah, she is pretty'. :rotfl: He has these amazing long eyelashes and has always been very petite for his age so I think people assume he's a girl, at least when he was a baby. AJ had a 'It's a boy' onesie on once and someone called him a girl. Maybe that's why Ilana's clothes are 95% pink and purple. ;) That and I'm a girly girl so she needs ruffles.

This is the first time I've had something to contribute.:cool1:

Here is the Ariel shirt with denim shorts. I'd posted earlier asking how to create the ribbon shorts/skirt and really appreciate everyone's help. When I went to Waldemort, I found this great trim and I figured it would be easier to just sew it on. I'm pretty pleased with the result.   My daughter thinks the shirt is a little short. I'm trying to decide if I want to add another ruffle. What do you think?

th_Outfit1.jpg

A little off topic--This picture is of my first creation:) This is the outfit my DD7 wore on the first day of school. You can't see all of the bottoms, but they are pink gingham capris. I can't take much credit for the top since the shirring was already in place when I purchased the fabric at Waldemort.:wizard: To make it Disney related, if you could see the front of her bookbag and lunchbag, you would see the Disney Princesses.princess:

th_outfit2.jpg

I still have three other outfits to finish before we leave for Disney on the 12th. So I should have more to post later.

I just love that Ariel fabric, I think another ruffle would look great if that's what she wants. Great job on both outfits!

So, for six people you used 5 suitcases & 2 carryons? That's amazing!! I will definitely use your idea! And yours too Aimee!!

Of course, I knew Ilana was a girl!!! ;) I love that pic of the kids together! They look so happy!

... we have reservations for CRT breakfast in September. I have a custom cinderella outfit that I just love for my daughter complete with appliqued shirt, twirl skirt, and matching necklace, bracelet, shoes, and bows.

If she wears the custom outfit instead of a cinderella costume will she feel out of place? Would I be better off having her wear the custom outfit a different time and wear a costume for the breakfast :confused3
Opinions, experiences, please.

I was going to say I think a custom would best, but that was before I read everyone else's post. We're doing CRT in Dec and I was planning customs for my dds mostly because I have an amazing skirt designed to make for dd6. Now I'm reconsidering. If dd6 wears a Cinderella gown, and dd8 loves Jasminee what should she wear? Is there a Jasmine gown?

I would say 75% of the girls were wearing gowns. If you DD does not like to wear them then I would have her wear the custom. She will not care about anything else other than being in the castle and meeting those princesses!

I think she will feel like a princess even with out the"princess gown." Maybe you could get one of those little comb tiaras to go with her custom. I would not worry she is going to have a great time and will be treated like a princess!

See above!

Cute!!! Did you make this?

I think they should wear whatever they would be comfortable in. When we went 2 years ago my girls wore customs (which were not as fancy as these). Most of the princesses commented on their outfits. Later when we went to toontown they were recognized in another outfit by one of the same princesses. I think they will feel like a princess in anything!

I have to compliment all of you once again...you're all so talented and I love everything I have seen on this thread! :thumbsup2

I'm coming out of lurkdom(is that a word? :) ) to ask for opinions please...

It's my first trip to WDW, as well as both my girls and I need some advice from you WDW vets. :goodvibes I know I'm asking a biased audience ;) but... we have reservations for CRT breakfast in September. Just thought I'd mention that Lillian Vernon has adorable Princess costumes that are not itchy!! They are also the prettiest one's I've seen! Not the Tulle ones from Disney Store.
Here's DD'S Cinderella from Lillian Vernon

It came with the fingerless gloves and the choker.
I'm eyeing the sleeping beauty costume...soooo pretty!

I have been lurking at this thread for some time, and boy, are you guys awesome!!! There are some really talented people on here and very inspirational! I have worked on a few things in the past year and I am planning on doing some painting on some overalls, Little Einsteins, and on jeans-Mickey and Minnie with fabric ruffles around the bottom. I will have to post them once I get them done. But in the meantime, here are three things I have done. Feed back is much appreciated (Love the positive stuff, but I will take any useful criticism as well! :rotfl: )

http://i225.photobucket.com/albums/dd282/madelinesmomm/DSC00699.jpg I only did the pants and the bow (can't see the bow too well)
http://i225.photobucket.com/albums/dd282/madelinesmomm/DSC00695.jpg Did the pants in this one too
http://i225.photobucket.com/albums/dd282/madelinesmomm/DSC00707.jpg Front of the Halloween dress (notice the spider coming out of the pocket!)
http://i225.photobucket.com/albums/dd282/madelinesmomm/DSC00703.jpg Back of the Halloween dress

Luckily she can still wear all of these! My DD hasn't grown too much in a year!

It would ruin my vacation.

We stayed off site at the Marriot near Sea World. It took about an hour from our door to the gate at the MK. The hotel was FAB but we were never there. We had a ton of trouble with the car rental. Not to mention the $4.38 gallon of gas we had to fill up an SUV with!

I knew we were going to have late nights and early morings so the bag thing was a time saver and my DH could help me out. We took pics as an activity for DD. She was driving me crazy about when are we going. So I channeled her excitement into another area! We made a photo album.

(We also took a pic of all of her costumes.)

I wanted to share some issues I have had with my DD's school. :teacher:

We are greeted by a lady who I see in the office a lot but I don't know her name. She says, "you have been tardy a lot this year." "If you continue to be tardy we will call Social Services":scared1: I don't know how she would know how many times my daughter has been tardy. I haven't discussed this with her before. No one sent a note home with DD. THere are over 850 kids in this mega elementary school.

I think I would have told her to go ahead and call SS. What are they going to do if your 3 minutes late every day? Take your child away from you? I think the Principal would be made to look foolish. For some reason, she was trying to scare you. If it were a teacher saying this, you could go to the Principal. But since this was the Principle, I'd just go to the Superintendant to complain about this woman's lack of professionalism for one.

We have strange issue at Kirstas school. She's supposed to be in at 8:15am, but her bus doesn't her there until 8:30. Tha't's okay with the school, becuase it's a bus issue. One day, I thought we missed the bus becuase it got so late. So I drove her. We got there before the bus, but after 8:15, so they gave her a demerit. They just explained it to me, and I learned my lesson, stupid as I thought it was.

:lmao: I never thought that people wouldn't be able to see Ilana has a dress on to know she's a girl. ;)

Is there a smiley with a foot in the mouth???? Insert it here. I apologize for the error. It was late when I posted and must have been half asleep. Clearly she is an adorable little girl as I see now that I am awake! I apologize!!!!! :goodvibes

I dont know about Aimee but I took pics for my pre-trip report and still had them in photobucket. Otherwise it never would have occured to me :rotfl: BTW my DH thought I was crazy for taking some of the pics I did for our trip:rotfl2:

So, for six people you used 5 suitcases & 2 carryons? That's amazing!! I will definitely use your idea! And yours too Aimee!!
Actually we had 4 suitcases for 5 of us!   The bags really keep everything neat and together and it does pack well when you squeeze the air out of the bags! :woohoo:

I follow an instruction manual I bought on ebay - the bows are pretty easy to make, I can't really explain it, I just look at the instructional pictures. the korkers are easy as well - you take 3/8" grosgrain ribbon, and wrap it around about 18" dowels, secure w/clothespins, put in the oven at 275 degrees for about 12 minutes - let them cool completly and unwrap. Cut them in 2-3" pieces and just lay them on top of one another and use a needle and thread to secure.
i love the minnie dress! too cute and fun...thanks for the info on the korker ribbons...but i think i will copy a child at the day care where i work, her mom just buys the curly ribbons you get for gifts and hot glues them to her barrettes!:woohoo: cute ,easy and many colors to chose from and cheap!!!!!:hippie:

See, I didn't look that closely at the pics, I just looked & thought how cute & went on. I did think you had 3 boys though. I think the outfits are adorable & Ilana is a cutie.

I have learned from past experience that if I put my girls in anything that unless they are also wearing pink or purple or a bow someone will think I have a baby boy. It's sad, but I have even had someone at Wal-Mart comment on my cute 'boy' who was wearing a red dress.

this much!!!!

I have been missing from the boards, due to my knee surgery. We got these from Lisa & I am in LOVE! Sorry for the gazellion pics, but these sets must be showed off in all of their glorious splendor!!!

They have a two piece blue Jasmine outfit. It is cute but it is not a gown. I think your daughters will love the castle so much it will not matter if they are wearing trash bags!! They are going to have a blast!

My DD will sleep in her costumes if I let her. She loves to dress up!

nice jojo set Lisa and the pic are great too but the smile on your daughter makes her eyes just dance, what a cutie pie! Thanx for sharing!:yay:

All of us discustom peeps have some pretty cute kiddos IMO....:thumbsup2
