We finally convinced my mom to start doing some eBay selling on her creations, so here's the dresses that she just sent the girls that will be her first design. What do you guys think???


The ribbon on the Mickey head on the front is on a removable snap for washing.

I almost forgot to post the shirt I finished today for DS. I used the pattern idea from several pages back. It was perfect for this shirt. He loves it - got so excited when the fabric came in the mail - what little boy doesn't love mickey *and* race cars?

It's getting hard to keep our trip a secret - I keep making all these clothes that I let them try on, then not actually wear, LOL!
Now to decide what to make next . . .

*Hey, I just had an idea. Tell me if you think this will work. Those who have made these shirts mentioned that the sleeves & collar are tricky to put in. Do you think it would help to intentionally not sew the side seam completely (everything but an inch near the underarm) until after the sleeves are nearly set? Would this work? I haven't made this type of shirt before, but maybe someone who has might be able to shed some light on this. It sounds to me like maybe it just might do the trick. Am I nuts?*

Ladyrob - I love the Snow White outfit and I don't know if it has been suggested, but have you thought about red rick-rack on the skirt? I think some kind of red would make it pop.

I was at JoAnn's (again) tonight and I looked everywhere for that Mickey head blue/orange fabric. No luck. However, I did run across some Classic Pooh wall-hanging panels that were on clearance. I didn't buy them, but I thought they might be good for someone who wanted to applique like LadyRob did (starting from an already created design.) Pooh was kind of large, but Piglet might have been the right size. It also included some bees and butterflies in the Classic Pooh colors/style.

Lady Rob - would you mind PM'ing me the seller of the halter instructions? I've been looking for a pattern with no luck, and this looks just like what I had in mind. I know some have mentioned just adjusting the pillow case dress, but I'm no good without directions...

I was at Joann's today and surprisingly, I found a commercial pattern for this exact style of halter. I'm sure it can be lengthened to your taste and measurements. Check out McCalls 5419. One of their pattern variations is actually * very* similar.

Actually, the pattern directions call for you to sew the sleeve onto the shirt, then you sew the underarm seam and the side seam all at once. Does that make sense? What I usually do, to prevent the puckering or gathering on the sleeve is to set my stitch length to the longest one, then sew a line (patterns call this "stay-stiching") just short of what the seam allowance is (generally 5/8") So I'll do the stay-stitch at 1/2". Then, clip every 1/2" or so up to the stitching. It makes it easier to bend around the curves. Then, when you pin your sleeve to the shirt, it should be easier to manipulate the curve of the sleeve into the straight-ish line of the shirt. I hope I'm making sense, but I'm probably not. This method generally works pretty well for me.

Sorry everyone - we went to the beach to watch the sunset tonight and just got back.

For those who asked, my mom's eBay id is nanascustomcreations. She'll be doing custom sizes for those that order. I just quickly took those pictures of Emily in the dress, since it had just come in, but she wants better pictures to actually put on eBay. You know, hair combed, shoes, etc. I'm so glad that you guys like it, she was so nervous that it wouldn't be liked.

I think it is Adorable, Tink!!!
Fairies and purple are my favorite, and when we get our daughter from China, her room will be green and lavender with fairies.
So, yeah, I love this cute top.

Your the second or third person to suggest some red so that's got to be what's missing. I will try adding the rick rack or an apple applique.

This is the skirt I was talking about last night. Just got it finished (been busy today with other things). I put some material behind the fish on the shirt(on the inside), which I think helped a little, but still seemed to stretch out the shirt a little around the stitches Sorry I haven't made any Disney related outfits yet. DD has all the outfits she needs for our upcoming trip, so I kinda feel like I am wasting my time on an outfit of that nature... does that make sense? When I dress her in mommy-made clothes I want the whole world to see. I don't feel that her Disney outfits she has now are for everyday/run to the store wear.. They are to nice!

I was thinking about putting a crystal on the shirt where the fishy's eye should be, what do you think?

These aren't customs and I didn't make them. I bought them off Ebay, they are somewhat limited. They're by Wish Upon A Star. Gracie may or may not wear these at Disney but she'll also wear them a lot at home.

I love these little dresses but have never been able to win one. I bet Gracie looks adorable in hers.
