Here are a few outfits I made---or as someone else said many pages back--outfits that I bought at Walmart and "pimped" up. For someone who has no sewing ability beyond buttons, I think they came out ok.

That's one of those skirtalls from Walmart that I've had in my hands every trip for the last two weeks!! :thumbsup2 Good job! I keep telling my girls "wouldn't this make a cute princess custom?" And they keep saying, "yes mom, would you just buy it already, you know you're gonna ask again next time!" :rotfl: And they are right!! But now, that I can see what you have done, I will definitely buy one and pixie it up!

NOW SHE WANTS TO PUT THE DARN THING ON.....:sad2: Ignore the messy hair and bare feet. Stubborn child. Oh and the string in the flower bed(stupid ppl across the way wanted to mow down all my flowers..yes there are flowers in there, they just havent bloomed yet)

LOOK I MADE A TWIRL SKIRT (inadvertadly...but I made one nonetheless:rotfl: ) Disregard rough seam..still need to trim in spots.

When we go down she has a pair of white tennies that I will put some velco dots on to change out the decs according to outfit. They will be made out of fun foam so if she loses one, no big deal. (I'll carry spare Mickey heads since they match everything) The last day is our MGM day so I will precut some black fun foam to make them look like saddle shoes. Now I just have to remember what saddle shoes look like:rotfl:

Enjoy..

Okay, this is just too, too, cute, and too clever. I just love it. It brings a smile to my face. I bet Pluto would love it, too. Are you going to the parade at the Studios? Pluto is in it, and I bet he'd walk right up to your dd and sniff her outfit and such if he saw it. He's at the very end of the parade following Mickey and Minnie's car.

I also love the idea for the shoes. Will make packing much easier and lighter.

All in all I give it a BIG :thumbsup2

As I said my daughter is a cheerleader and thinks everything has to bling:rolleyes: I am pretty sure we (the other cheer moms) used thousands of those little crystals last cheer season for that team. What a mom won’t do for her kids. LOL!

I tell you we do a lot for them. That's for sure. I say that as I'm rubbing my back because we "camped out" in our family room last night since my dh is out of town. I missed my bed last night.

Thanks for the info about the bling. I have to let you in a little secret though. I'm not a cheerleader and have been adding bling to quite a few of my own things this past year. I think it my be my own mid-life crisis. I even put a little bit of bling on my cell phone. I have the Razor phone with the flower tattoos, and I added bling to the middle of each flower. Dh just rolled his eyes. :confused3

With the wonderful instructions from Buffy0214, I made 2 autograph bags tonight - I followed her directions, and I think they came out pretty good

I think they did, too. However, I must say that this trend come become very much like the clothing trend. You know, making a different bag for each park and outfit. Can't you see it. You could do one for your MNSSHP. If you do though, just bring some business cards with you because everyone will want to know how they can get one for their little goblins. Let me know if the kiddos wear them. I love that this is a neat way for them to carry their own stuff.

That is the problem I was having, instead of having a diff pair of shoes for each outfit, one pair will suffice for most of the outfits. I am planning on just putting the hook part on the shoe and the loop part on the attachment. Kinda like the old-fashioned clips for women's dress shoes. This way I will have them all ready made up and ready to just switch out every day. I figure the hook part will hold up better to dirt and more switching out.

So wait - (I'm craft illiterate, too!)

If I buy velcro dots to attach to shoes, those little foamies will stick to them? Oh, wait!! You attached velcro dots to the foamies, don't you???
DUH! I think I just figured it out!!! :lmao:

:scared1: I don't think I'm going to have the room in the suitcases to pack different outfits with matching bags for each dd for the 7 days we will be there!!!! I think one bag is good for now, even though my dd's would probably love to have others!! I have actually been stopped by people in the parks and at the resorts asking where I have gotten dd's clothes (mostly custom overalls I did myself) dh joked that I should bring business cards with me!!!!

**whines....I want the pink Mickey fabric.. Dont know what I would do with it, but I want it.[/QUOTE]

Thanks for the compliments everyone. :rotfl2: SO WHERE OH WHERE IS Teresa and Mini.? HMMM...bug me for an hour then dont even come and look. Yeesh!:lmao:

Sorry, my absolutely adorable little monster was giving me a bit of trouble last night, and I just made it back this morning. Oh, I meant to say that I love the Hidden Mickey on Pluto's collar. Very cute.

Now, do you really want that fabric? A few days ago our Wal-Mart had lots of it. I am happy to pick some up for you. I don't know if they still have any or not, but I will certainly check. Just let me know how much you need.

That goes for any of you. They also had a ton of the big princess trio with them all over the fabric and the Ariel fabric where it looks like she's under the water with her hair flowing up and such. PM me or I'll check the board before I go this afternoon.

I want to see yours! I want to make something for me, but have NO clue what to make!

Last year I didn't get too fancy for myself...but I did put rhinestone Mickey heads on the back pockets of my jeans and at the bottom of the flare legs. I had a matching rhinestone Mickey top that I got from JCPenney's clearance center to top it all off. I will have to wade through my closet and see if I can find it...if not, I'm sure I have pics from vacation somewhere. :thumbsup2

Just want to say again how cute I think everyone's clothing and accessories are!!!! I so wish I could sew. This from a girl who lived with her grandmother all her life and whose grandmother made all of her clothing and could have easily taught me to sew as well. Of course then, I had no desire to learn--but oh the things she could have taught me. :headache: When I started working, she made all of my suits--completely lined--plus blouses, etc.

Anyway, I definitely have the bug--even though my kids are a little old for custom. I think I can still get my youngest DS to wear some things!

For my first project--can someone share some easy instructions for doing appliques. I'd like to do an outfit for the first day of kindergarten.

Thanks Ladies! You are all so talented!!!!:thumbsup2

Ok, and will any fraying fabric do ok? I use mostly 100% cotton, and I know I've seen flannel fray nicely on a rag quilt.

I've only ever tried it twice and both times with 100% cotton fabric. Sorry, I can't help out more.

The only thing I've ever sewn is a pillow in Girl Scouts, I don't have a little girl (or boy for that matter) to make outfits for and yet I follow this thread religiously. Y'all are amazing and the outfits are too cute! I love seeing what everyone has come up with.

I did have one tiny idea so thought I'd post. This may have been what the original poster meant, anyway, but just in case...

The idea of prepping shoes with velcro and then changing decorations to match the outfits is awesome. They sell the velcro in little dot shapes. You could make the black velcro be little Mickeys all over the shoes. Velcro somethng over them to match the outfit or leave them off and just have mickey shoes - and if a decoration falls off it just reveals a hidden mickey. Put the fuzzy part of the velcro on the shoes so they won't pick up every stray piece of lint and string.

Now if someone will just make a pair of those shoes with the velcro and post a picture.....I am great at copying and modifying from a picture once I see what the end product looks like.

I had asked if anyone had ideas for older girls. Any ideas for DD 14? Thanks for the input!

you can do the pillow case dress as a top.. I am making a few for my 7yo... also maybe just doing lots of bling on a t-shirt or shorts.

I've let DD pick out some patterns and we are trying to modify them for Disney. We are thinking if we modify the bottom since it didn't turn out like the picture on the pattern, we would like it better.

I just did a shirt for Cruella but I don't like the way it turned out. Reminds me too much of "how much is that doggy in the window". It was black with white polka/dots on top & then white with black polka/dots on bottom with doggy print ribbon as a tie in the back. I need to get more doggy paw print ribbon for the bottom & I did find an iron on for Cruella so I'm thinking if we add that it will give it more Disney flair.

Maybe I'll post it later even though it doesn't really scream Disney to me at the moment. Plus, it's too big for her in the neckline right now (I'm still a novice at this sewing stuff!).

post a picture, we may be able to help you modify.

Thanks for the info. You don't think a pillowcase dress will look too young? Maybe I could find some great material and make it look trendy? Any suggestions?

When you do frayed applique, it works best to cut your applique on the bias (diagonal to the grain) and then wash your applique in the washer in a garment bag prior to sewing it on your item. This way, the applique frays evenly and doesn't vary with the crossgrain vs. the vertical grain and it keeps loose strings from constantly coming loose. It gives you a great frayed look, yet keeps the fray controlled and not ratty looking. I buy a lot of Baby Nay and Naartjie boutique clothing for my baby girl. These companies do a lot of "frayed" hemlines and appliques. Looking closely at them, you can tell all of the frayed detaling is always cut on the bias.
