:cheer2: Congrats AMY!!!
One more after this one and you'll have caught up with me! Next year I'll have one graduating from High School and one from Kindergarten plus all the others in between and after. :scared1:

So here's a shirt I made for DD. She's 17 and gave me as much attitude about having to do a picture than my 5 yo does. The wind was blowing and puffed it out more than it already is and she was freaking out about how fat she looked. She'll really be mad if she finds out I posted them! I didn't use any pattern, just some phone calls to Dena and voila! She's already out the door in it for a big friday night on the town. She likes simple stuff like this so everyone who has teens, there is hope as far as getting them into customs. I'm making her and DD5 matching Jacks soon.

That is awesome! I would wear that maybe with the right fabric. I actually made a similar one without a pattern out of pink skull fabric for my dd7!

Well, if your daughter does find out that you posted her pics, you can tell her a DISser said that she's beautiful and not fat at all!!!!
I know about teens!! My sons are both grown, but I have a 13 yo daughter.
Great job on the shirring. The shirt is so pretty.

What pattern did you use for the top for your daughter? i might be able to do a 'Mommy and Me" coordinating outfit!!! I really like it!!

Thanks! I didn't use a pattern. We just took lots of measurements and went from there. The next one will be way easier since I got to learn from my mistakes! This one really has more fabric in it than I needed. In a nutshell I measured her chest, then 1" above clevage to the length that she wanted it to be and started sewing starting with hems and then the side seams, did the shirring next, and put it on her to pin in the straps. She chose the width of her straps. The next one I'm reducing by at least 10" in width so it's not as puffy after the shirring. This started at 68" around so it's a lot of fabric. I can get more detailed if you need me to be but if I post her measurements after I posted her pic she'll really be mad! :rotfl:

Okay Jessica or anybody out there that can help - Jessica made these wonderful pants for dd, but now I want to try to make a top to match. What is the name of the navy blue and red fabrics? Where do I get them? I've checked Walmart and Joann's (that's all I have up here), and I figure I need to order online but I don't know how to search? Anybody?

I am almost certain both of those dots (red and blue/black) are on the quilt wall at Joann's, in the gingham section!

Has anyone else seen this on Disneyshopping? How cute is that!!

I know we were talking about creating tutus before. I saw this and fell in love with it!

I ordered it already the other day when it was 20% off. Someone said they have these in the stores too, is that correct? I ordered a large but I'm afraid I will need to exchange it for a smaller size. I can do that at the stores now right?

My daughter got very excited when she saw this! She said, "This is what I want you to make." I said, "I don't know how to do that" and she says, "But mom, you can do anything."

No pressure here, now can someone tell me how I can figure out this "shirring" stuff because it looks really hard.

Here are my latest outfits, shoes, shirts, whatever...LOL

I really tried to make the shoes, like someone else did, but I'm not happy with them...

They have it at the Disney stores too. We were just there tonight...they even have these little go-go style gold boots to match. The skirt is not very full though in person, I was expecting something that didn't lay so flat.

Lisa,
What do you mean those shoes didn't turn out good :confused3 , they are so cute! I like the Ariel skirt set too. I only got each kid 2 or 3 custom things to wear since I spent way too much at Disney Store and Gymboree already. I like having well dressed kids, too bad I can't sew  .

It wasn't hard at all and I was frightened! The elastic thread is at WalMart by the regular elastic in a package on a spool. Put the elastic thread in the bobbin. I wound mine by hand and pulled it tight as I wound. I just used white thread on top, spaced my lines 1/2" apart and started sewing. I pulled more on the fabric than I normally do to make sure that once I ran the lines they'd snap back a little tighter. After the first two lines I was shocked that it was working! My DD's was shirred a total of 10". Hope this helps!

The Minnie bag that I made is not very hard and I will be happy to share. It made be difficult to explain but I will try my best.
Basically you just need 2 pieces of main outside fabric whatever size you want the bag to be and 2 pieces of lining fabric for the inside, the pieces will need to be about 2 inches wider and taller then you want the finished bag to be to allow for the sides and bottom. I also line the outside fabric with stablizer to make it stiffer, you can choose the level of stiffness. You can make the straps by seaming a strip of fabric together or sometimes I'll just use grosgrain ribbon which makes it much easier.

For the Minnie bag, I seamed the 2 different fabrics together to make the finished outside fabric. I then seamed one long side of the bag and then sewed down the ribbon across. Next seam the other side and the bottom. To finish the bottom pull the corner to make a triangle lining up the side and bottom seam, this will decide how wide the bag is, repeat on the other side. This is difficult to explain, if you don't understand I will try and post pictures of it in the making. Then put on the straps. They will be facing down on the right side of the fabric.

Do the same thing with the lining fabric but don't sew up the bottom all the way. Leave some space in the middle so you can turn the bag after you sew the lining to the outside.
Now put what will be the outside of the bag right side out into the lining of the bag which is wrong side out, so the rights sides are together and the straps are inbetween. Seam the top of the outside and lining together and then turn the bag the correct way thru the hole in the lining. Then sew up the hole. I topstich the top down again.
If you want a ribbon closure do this just like the straps.
I hope you can understand this. I don't know if I have posted enough to receive PMs but feel free if you need further explanation.

I'm sorry your Sept trip got cancelled
