I don't know if you bought this pattern yet, but the twirl skirt directions are floating around cyberspace for free. I know I have posted them on here before and so have a couple of others. I didn't save my link though. I'm sure if you just google twirl skirt instructions, you'll find it. I also think it is posted on a sewing forum -- "what's-sew-new" or something like that. If I can find it again, I'll post a link for you.
and my dd's coordinating outfits!
Love 'em. I almost bought this fabric, but just couldn't figure out what to do with it. Glad to see someone came up with something so cute.
do you think this is tooo hot for july? the pink and black tulle look cute. the dark pink shirt made the skirt look more red
Very cute. I don't think the black would be too hot. I think a black tank with a Mickey head icon in rhinestones would be very cute.
Here's what I did with the Mickey swirl fabric. I DON'T sew, so this is as good as it gets!! DD is in the pool with DH so maybe I'll post pics. with her wearing it later. I plan on making matching bows too. We're going in February so jeans won't be too hot!
Oh my word!!! I love this, and will copy it shamelessly. With your permission, of course. I bought this fabric this past spring and just haven't been able to figure out what to do with it. This is perfect though. Both my 7 AND 5 yo really liked it, too. Very nice.
My question is do you think I should put some embellisments on it? Like a ribbon, etc.? I am still a beginner sewer so have not moved on to more advanced things yet but I hope to work towards that.
I like it as is, but I do think some trim right where the bodice is attached to the skirt would be lovely and would help break up the pattern. Like I said though, it is great as is.
For instance, we are going to Hoop de do in Dec. Any ideas on what kind of outfit I can put together for that? Too bad we are not going to the BBQ - THAT outfit was so darn cute!
Thanks ladies!
Lisa
Couldn't anything that works for the Backyard BBQ also work for the HDDR? Truth be told. We haven't been to either, so I really don't know.
I have a question about doing an applique. How do you do this? Do you trace and cut what you want to do, then apply to the material and sew around it?
How do you apply it to the material?
What kind of stitch do you use to sew around the edges?
What is the simplest way to try this and see if a total idiot can do it?
Tink, have you gotten those instructions yet? I can't wait to see what you do. With your flare, I know it will be great regardless.
Look what you all have done to me! I think I can actually sew, my home ec. teacher would have been so proud!!
I think you can sew, too. Nice job.
Hi,
This isn't Disney related, but I was inspired by this thread. It is my first attempt at an applique.
Good job. We used to love Calliou over here, too. You're right about that big ole head though. Maybe I could practice on the Backyardigans. My youngest really likes them right now, and I think they'd be pretty easy, too.
I'm nearly 40 years old and I am thinking about making something similar for myself if I can find the fabric!
I'm over 40, and I'm thinking of making one of these for me, too.
First, I've just tried the applique stitch myself for the first time using a zig zag and it worked just fine.
I think so, too. I actually have this fabric, too. (See, i've told ya'll I have a huge fabric stash. I was going to use it almost exactly the same way. My plans are to make some long cargo type shorts. (blue, with a lime green stripe down the side and yellow piping) I was also wanting to make a camp type shirt out of the Surfin' Mickey print. However, I don't have enough. I have about a yard, so I was thinking of doing just 1 side of the shirt in this print and doing the rest in the same blue as the shorts. I also found a yellow t-shirt in near perfect condition, so I thought I'd applique a Mickey head on it with the Surfin' Mickey fabric. That way the shorts could be worn with either shirt or both and the camp shirt left open. What do you think? Of course, I don't even have a boy, so I don't know why I'd even try this. Maybe I'll ebay it when I'm done. Anyway, this is all the fabrics together. Nothing is even cut out yet. I just folded them to see how the shorts would look if I did it.
Emma fell at the softball park, so she has a boo-boo on her nose and upper lip... and she just got out of the tub, so she's not at her best!
Nice work. I hope your little model is doing better. Cute outfits and adorable models.
That's my next challenge. I just need to get to the fabric store to pick out some good prints...without kids saying "oooh, mommy, look at this!" and "can we go home yet?" (two different kids.)
This sounds like me. The fabric store is my escape. I could spend hours in there. My girls are getting somewhat better. However, I still prefer to go alone.
Well, that's it. I hope this looooong post made sense. I tried to cut out as much as I thought I could. If you made it this far, thanks for sticking with me. Of course, 40 more posts have probably been added since I started writing mine.

I hope to finish the RnRC outfit today, but I am unsure of what is next. It was going to be the boy's outfit I mentioned earlier, but I found those water-absorbing crystals at the store yesterday. I think I am going to make some cooling neck ties. Our church is having a men's fellowship/workday on Saturday, and it is HOT around here. Thought I'd make up a dozen or so of these and let them use them to do their work. Help keep them cool. Of course, I don't think these grown men want to wear them if I make them out of Disney Princess fabric. Hey, does this mean I have an excuse to go to the fabric store yet again.
Have a great day everyone. Keep up the good work.
