Getting ready to do our planning for our August trip and want to do some different things. The last time my DH and I were at Pleasure Island in the evening was about 11 years old. We haven't gone back in the evening on past trips because we have kids (DS's-ages 9 & 7). Has anyone taken their kids to PI in the evening and what did you do-Comedy Warehouse or Adventurers Club or just walk around? Thanks. :)

You'll get lots of responses on this. PI is for adults and it's not really appropriate for young children. Think taking your kids to the neighborhood bar or night club. Some people do take their kids with them to the Comedy Club for the earliest show, but they usually get picked out of the crowd by the cast.

We were there about a year ago with my husband's sister. She had never gone to PI, so she asked with we could all go over there one night. We were staying at SSR and our 11 yr old son went with we three adults. Well, we stayed about 15 minutes and then went back over to the Marketplace. Too much smoke, cursing, drinking, clothing that made me very uncomfortable. PI is just not my cup of tea.

I always see kids in the clubs. Seriously, last time we were at 8 Traxx there were several groups of kids there. I commented to DH about a group of 10-15 year old girls who were out on the dance floor, which seemed completely inappropriate to me. I wouldn't want that to be my little girl. It was creepy!

I agree, you'll get lots of negative responses about this. I'll give you a positive one. :thumbsup2

We took the kids our last trip. They were 7 and 10 at the time. We went early, stopped at 8 Traxx where DD danced (just me and her on the dance floor, the place was dead) and love it. The girl loves to dance. I don't see how it's inapproriate at all.

We went to the Adventurer's Club which we all loved!! Some of the jokes were of the double entendre kind---which went right over my kids' heads. It depends on your tolerance for this kind of thing, but it's nothing worse than your average 8pm sitcom (well, even tamer than that, I would say).

We then went to the first showing of the comedy show. Yes, there were other kids there, and yes, they were picked out by the cast members in a joking way. One got picked for skit, and the most "suggestive" thing I heard all night came out of HIS mouth.

Yes, there are adults drinking and smoking. Just sounds like the average family wedding to me. As for suggestive clothing--yeah, there was one crazy lady there (an older woman, too), and I just distracted my daughter when she was near. Nothing I'd get my panties in a bunch over, though.

When it got around 10, the crowd really started to change and we headed out. But I don't regret going for a second.

I know most people disagree with this...but DH and I took our son (in his stroller, yes I know  ) to PI. We didn't go in any clubs with him, just strolled around for a little while, grabbed something to eat and drink and listened to the band that was outside. He enjoyed the music and the activity. It was just something different to do for an evening. I don't regret taking him, HOWEVER I would probably not do it again because of the bus ride back to POP...it was pretty bad. We stayed at PI until eleven (by then we did not see many young kids there) and then went to DQ until midnight. By that time the bus was full of rowdy, vulgar drunk guys who were very rude to us. I would suggest leaving PI and the West Side early, if you will be taking a bus back to your resort.
