Anyone have these before? I am having some back pain that is now moving around to my my stomach area. I already have had my gall bladder taken out, so I know it is not that. In my surfing through the internet today, I am thinking that kidney stones may be what I have?? Anyone that has had these stones before, what were your symptoms?

I did about 5 years ago. I remember the pain started in my back and quickly moved to the left side. Within 5 hours it was excruciating and I had to go to the hospital. Within 24 hours (and lots of morphine!) I passed the stone on my own. Good luck!! Believe me, after birthing three kids the kidney stone pain was worse than labor pain so you'll know pretty quick!!

a good friend had one a month agao and these were the symptoms she had: nausea, back pain, and abdominal pain.

Kellimomo3 described the pain perfectly. I passed kidney stones 10 years ago, have 3 kids, and it was definitely worse than childbirth. I had pain in my lower back for about two weeks and then it gradually moved to my abdominal region, left side. I thought that I was having an appenditis attack. The pain was so bad that I could not stay still. Even at the hospital, I could not stay in bed. I kept getting told to get back onto the gurney, but it hurt to bad. The pain was more bearable bending over the gurney and moving from side to side. Good luck, it is not fun.

I've had them once and my sister and mom have had them many times. It usually starts out as back pain and then works its way into your lower abdomen. Mine felt like really bad cramps. I eneded having mine taken out via surgery (they used that little basket thing.) I thought kidney stones were worse than giving birth!

I would recommend drinking lots and lots of water to see if you can get it to move/pass.

Lots of hugs :grouphug: for you because they aren't fun

Thanks everyone so far. My pain has been on the right side. Is having the pain in the right side different (not kidney stones)? So far the pain has been mild. We leave to go camping in the morning. I hope the change in scenery helps me not think about the pain. I am thinking I should call a urologist to be on the safe side.

My pain was on the right side (it all depends on which kidney they originate in.) My back pain started at about 6pm one night. The next morning I got up and went to work. By the time I walked into my office I was doubled over in pain. I would call your dr (hopefully just to be on the safe side.)

I hope you have a wonderful time camping (and that your pain goes away soon!) :goodvibes

UGH Im sorry that is horrible pain!

I had pain that started on my right side in my back. It got progressivly worse and nothing I could do ( changing position, taking a bath, taking ibuprofen) helped.

It was really bad! I finally had dh take me to the ER and they gave me an IV for the pain and eventually I had to have a lithotripsy to blast it.

Good luck! I hope it isnt that :(
